I warmly recommend this, if you feel your skin can use some slow exfoliating (which is what AHA basically does).
It also has unbelievable affect on old whiteheads.
I’ve had my share of disappointments from expensive products claiming “micro this, scientific that” with only minor results. Exfoliation is more proven, I’m just sorry I didn’t bother to take before/after pics, since I wasn’t expecting this.
Just two words of caution:
(1) The new skin layer is sun-sensitive, as you can expect, so I wouldn’t use it during our Australian summer. And regardless of AHA, never ever forgot your sunscreen.
(2) It took me about 4 weeks to really notice the effect, so it’s not ideal for someone seeking last-minute beauty tips, say, for a big event next week.

I had gone to get my eyebrows threaded I had a breakout around forehead area shortly after. I had tried everything to get rid of the scars from the breakout and nothing worked except for this amazing lotion. Have been using it for about a week and have already obtained amazing results. If you have acne scars, this is most definitely do the trick.

I’m not sure what I am not doing with the 94% of others who chose to repurchase. I bought this based on seeing stellar reviews but regret to say that I’m a part of the minority who have had their face ruined by this lotion. My skin has been known to being resilient to products so it has surprised me that within the first week of using, I started to get huge cystic pimples that I’ve not had since my teen days. Being stubborn, I stuck out with this until the end and for the past 4 months, have endured a battle of acne that left my face scarred and ruined. So badly that my mum even mentioned how bad my chin looked. I would never ever buy or use Neostrata even if this was given to me for free!

Neostrata really makes quality products!
I had been using Lancome products for a while and thought my skin was looking pretty good, but decided I needed a bit more exfoliation so I dug this up. I had forgotten how much I adore this product! I woke up to smoother, brighter, more refined skin the very next day. I have continued to use this product and haven’t been breaking out at all, plus my skin just looks so much brighter and more even, even my acne scars look lighter! I’m not even sure I’ll go back to my Lancome products as the results with Neostrata are so much better!
Skin can sting a little on application if you are new or sensitive to AHA’s. It did the first few times for me, but it doesn’t anymore.
I only use this once a day, usually in the morning, and then I use Neostrata renewal cream at night (also recommend). It works ok under makeup, but I think my makeup looks better and stays on longer without it underneath. I tend to find my skin looks oilier quicker with this on, but as I want to use my renewal cream at night, I don’t have much choice.
The price is good in my opinion! I have spent a lot more for rubbish products from brands who seem to put more money into marketing than the product itself. Plus this bottle is huge so it will last ages, thus actually working out very cheap! Neostrata is often recommended by dermatologists and sold in their offices (my derm didn’t sell Neostrata at all, but still highly recommended it).
It can be normal to have an initial purge with AHA products I find. I didn’t this time round, but the first time I used it I did. Try to stick with it for a few weeks if you can.
If you struggle with break outs, uneven skin tone, acne marks and/or large pores, get this! Neostrata would have to be the one brand I trust to produce quality products which actually deliver on results and believe me, I have tried EVERY brand there is!

Gentle exfoliant that is also moisturizing on the skin.

I was recommended this product by my dermatologist to try to resolve my mild yet persistent hormonal acne issues without resorting to medication. The only other product to balance my skin out was the alpha beta peels from dr dennis gross but they are too expensive for me to use as a long-term solution. This product works as a chemical exfoliant and a light moisturiser in one. I use a very gentle cleanser in the morning to remove oils and my night cream and then apply this and pop my makeup on over the top. The results are wonderful, my skin went from combination to normal- I finally have clear skin! Which also means I spend less time and money on covering up and treating blemishes. The only thing to be careful of is that chemical exfoliants like this can leave your skin a bit more sensitive to UV rays so make sure you use appropriate sun protection.

I would absolutely buy this moisturizer again. I have sensitive dry skin and have tried so many products. This one works the best. Highly recommend.

This line cleared my adult acne. For 4 years, I experimented with product after product – high-end, drug store, organic, all natural. Nothing worked (granted, oral Clindamycin did) and most products seemed to exacerbate my acne. Neostrata products are my miracles in a bottle. I use the antibacterial cleanser first and then apply a mixture of the Smoothing Lotion and Neostrata Bionic Lotion. Both my boyfriend and I are addicted to this line.
There is nothing fancy about this product – no fragrance, no pretty packaging. It has a runny consistency and needs to be massaged into skin. It’s a mild exfoliator and can sting. I use it on a daily basis and it actually decreased my redness and sensitivity.
I should also note that I used the Bionic Lotion for two months before incorporating the Smoothing Lotion into my skincare routine.
Also, there is a huge difference between the Neostrata and Exuviance lines. I dislike every Exuviance product I bought or sampled. Obviously, I love Neostrata.

I’m starting to really like this product.
I have acne-prone skin, but it’s mostly clear (I did 2 rounds of accutane a few years ago) – my main problems is large pores and some minor acne scars.
So I wanted to try this lotion to refine my skin structure and to help keep my pores clean and clear. I’ve been using this almost a month and am finally liking the results. The first week this product was nice, but then I started breaking out (just a little on my nose and cheeks, but enough to annoy me ;-)). I decided to stick with it and now, after 3 weeks of use, the breakout has cleared up and my skin looks nice.
Will continue to use – also for the anti-aging benefits.
I only use this at night though, because when I wake up in the morning my skin is very oily and shiny.
Update: I switched to Neostrata Oily Skin Solution and Neostrata Smoothing Cream 10AHA (I use either one of them, not both at the same time!) for nighttime use, because I felt the Smoothing Lotion was too greasy. I’m very happy with the results from the Skin Solution and the Smoothing Cream and would recommend them over the lotion.
