   Honestly this isn’t good as the regular Amlactin.

   I had really high hopes for this product, because I’m a real big fan of ceramides, but this product honestly wasn’t good.

   First of all, it doesn’t seem to exfoliate as well as the regular Amlactin. And even with the addition of ceramides, it doesn’t seem to provide any additional moisture.

   Also, this product smells worse. Normal Alactin has that slight amonia smell. This product smells a bit different, and whatever it is, it somehow smells worse.

   Honestly I’m just gonna buy original Amlactin from now on. Works better and smells better.

   This stuff works amazingly well. When I had scaly skin in the middle of winter, this cleared it up in a few days. It really works. But it smells like rancid sunscreen and I just find it extremely unpleasant. This will keep me from buying it again.

   UPDATE: I ended up in the hospital with pneumonia this past winter, and my skin totally dried out. I was so sick I couldn’t really manage too much in the way of skin care, so my face really suffered. After I recovered, my facial skin was dry and had scaly patches that seemed to get worse. I tried argan oil, coconut oil, rose hip oil, vitamin E oil, Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Cream, Face masks, and even Vaseline. Nothing really worked – my skin felt good until the ingredients soaked in, and the next morning my skin was as dry and scaly as ever. I saw my Amlactin Cerapeutic in my cabinet. It is Alpha Hydroxy Acid with Ceramides. I started using this on my face at night followed by Vaseline. I put it on in the morning for an hour or two until I washed my face. In a week, my skin was back to normal.

   This is designed for hands and body, but you can definitely use it on your face. Just be careful because of the AHA – you need a sunscreen. BTW, the smell doesn’t bother me as much as it initially did — probably because the results are so good.

   My skin used to be oily and not easily burned by the sun.Now,on the other side of 70, my face is dry and red at times and my lower neck and chest bumpy . But I still look young enough for people to comment when they find out how old I am.
   I thought this lotion might give my face a slightly more supple condition. After applying it morning and evening for a week with negligible effect it started to look and feel like a sunburn last night.
   I haven’t been in the sun so I guess that means that once the burning clears up I’d better apply it less often, it’s powerful stuff!
   Or maybe I will use it on my legs and arms as well. It isn’t cheap, around $17 for a 7.9 oz bottle at CVS.

   I love this stuff! A product that actually works and works quickly. You have to get past the scent, which is like sour milk. It will disappear after a minute or so. This lotion feels like it is going deep into the layers of skin and just makes your skin smoother and softer than any other lotion you would use- even a body butter.
   I used this daily on my feet and it has helped tremendously with my callouses.
   Also a tip- use it on your bum- it will be as soft as a baby’s.
   Taking off a lippie for the scent and it is rather expensive and you can run through it quickly.

   Update: I ran through this quickly. They need to make this in a larger size. It IS too pricey. Have to drop my rating. Didn’t even last a month.

   I had trouble finding this so ordered from Amazon. I have been struggling with dry flaky legs for months. Tried all kinds of lotions and had been using Paula’s choice AHA body lotion then another hydrating lotion like Gold Bond over it. Still dry legs.

   One – two applications of this and I saw a difference. Skin actually felt comfortable and arms felt silkier. Legs will take longer but they are really dry.Yes, it’s pricey but all of the Amlactin products are on the pricey side. I will pay this for results, and I have not had to layer this with another lotion or oil. Oh and mine came in an approx 8 oz pump so can’t complain about squeezing a tube.

   I’m on a very low buy/no buy at the moment but by recommendation of the board, needed an AHA product that could chemically exfoliate the nasty flakes on my nose and dry patch on my cheeks asap. Seeing as I don’t have KP or very dry skin on my body, I figured that the trial/travel size of this stuff would be more than enough for my face. It’s a higher percentage (12%) but I use only once at night and apply only a thin layer.

   The packaging is horrid and it wants to squeeze out more than you want to use, but I only use a small pea sized amount for the entire face and neck. For under 4 bucks and with the results I got almost instantly, I’m not complaining about packaging!

   The day after my first application, my flakies were much better. After three nights, they’re gone! My skin feels a lot smoother and my makeup sits a lot better than better. I am thinking of buying the huge body lotion size just to use on the rest of my body and maintain really soft skin!

   I saw this new version from AmLactin only in a trial size (2 oz.) at my local CVS. I haven’t seen it anywhere else, and the store did not have it in full size. I’m a devotee of the AmLactin 12%. This does not indicate the % of lactic acid. It seems very similar to the 12%, but w/ some ceramides that are pretty far down the ing list, and other ings. No added fragrance; smells just like the 12%. Sank in immediately, skin felt soft, smooth, moisturized and it killed the itchies as well as the KP. I’ll look for this in full size to buy again. Good stuff, great all over.

   The ings are: Water, Ammonium Lactate, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, Potassium lactate, MO, Petrolatum, Steareth-21, Dimethicone, Glyceryl Steareth SE, Steareth-2, Stearyl Alcohol, Xanthan Gum, Tocopheryl Acetate, Methylparaben, Disodium EDTA, propylparaben, Sodium Lauroyl Lactylate, Ceramide NP, Ceramide AP, phytophingosine, cholesterol, carbomer, ceramide EOP.

   10/19/16 update: I am reducing my rating from 5 to 3 lippies. I ran out of my regular AmLactin and bought this in full size. I discovered that over time, it’s effectiveness in reducing KP is much less than the regular AmLactin. In fact, I find that this is better for super dry areas, like elbows, feet, etc. In KP prone areas that are not terribly dry, like upper arms and thighs, my KP made a big a comeback using this. It seems the ceramides are actually clogging my hair follicles a bit. So I will not re-purchase, and for my next big bottle, I will be back to my regular good ol’ AmLactin.

   11/29/17 update: Ha, I am upping the rating back up to 4 lippies. Had gone back to my regular Amlactin for a while, then was using Eucerin Professional for a while, then ran out and couldn’t find anything other than this in my local DS. While it’s still not as good as the regular Amlactin for KP, the difference between this and the Eucerin for treating KP made me realize that the Amlactin Cerapeutic is, while not as HG as the original Amlactin, still miles better than most of the other stuff out there. I had dead skin just sloughing off my legs and arms after using this just once after using the Eucerin for a month, and some dry skin itchiness I had developed w/ the Eucerin just disappeared. And not that the Eucerin is bad. It’s really, really good stuff. Which just goes to show you how amazing both Amlactin versions are! So, bottom line, for truly rough, dry, KP-prone skin that needs the big guns, Amlactin is the bomb, and this deserves 4 stars, not 3. PS: I’ve never been bothered by what some describe as a sour milk smell. I only smell a very faint vinegariness from both the regular and the Cerapeutic, but it completely disappears in a minute or two. Not an issue for me at all. I’ll take that any day over lotion that smells nice but doesn’t do diddly, or makes things worse. I need RESULTS. However, if it bothers you, you could always add a tiny drop of your favorite scent or essential oil (make sure you use something that does not irritate you and is not phototoxic).
