   The skin lotion has changed. Previously batch codes with 4 digits were hypo allergenic with no distinguishable fragrance, now all batch codes with 5 digits smell strongly of fragrance causing severe headaches. Quality control non-existent. Was a loyal customer for several years, now will never buy again.

   Where were you all my life, dear allergenics! there is a reason this lotion has a flawless 5.0 rating. this is what melody’s dreams are made of.
   consistency: not thick like most lotions! think, Mountain Ocean’s coconut lotion or Jergen’s cherry almond in consistency (though a little more runnier than jergen’s).
   sinks in: YES!
   moisture: not even a question, my skin is delighted with this lotion, even more than with Mi Vogas (though I still love the scent and packaging and ingredients of mi voga’s too)
   ingredients: flawless, just flawless (it’s so rare of a lotion to be completely excellent in ingredients, as even my mi voga has three ingredients i’m not insanely bonkers about lol)
   price: $10

   the one con of this is that it is only made in canada i believe, (and i live in hawaii), so i always have to pay for shipping, but next order around, i’m ordering three bottles to leave around the house so as to save! absolute love for this lotion, i could never see my life without it.

   This is a great natural alternative to the likes of E45 lotion. In fact it’s really a much better product than E45, not just beacuse of the absence of petrochemicals, parabens and other nasties, but also in terms of performance. Moisturises very well without leaving any sticky or greasy feel and relieves any itching or irritation. Only complaint is the slightly off putting smell (product is unscented), although this disappears almost immediately. Not only will I repurchase, I’ll always have a bottle of this on hand.

   Looks like custard, but isn’t, nor should it be used as such. However, if you have sensitive skin, feel free to slather it on your person with joyous abandon. It’s benign and soothing to the skin (high aloe vera content, licorice extract), with nourishing, protective ingredients (beeswax, borage oil, etc) that make for a great winter moisturiser. I daresay the consistency is sufficiently light for summer or those mythical warmer countries too (the anti-inflammatory formula would be good as an after-sun) but I don’t know yet. Once applied it takes a little while to sink in and remains a tad sticky until this happens – if I could rate it 4.5 lippies for this, I would – but the positives outweigh this minor gripe.

   For background’s sake, my skin is slightly dry overall and extremely sensitive (intolerant, irritable, other unpleasant character traits), with mild localised acne (chin and jaw area) caused by lithium use. I have fairly docile eczema on my body, primarily hands and other common hotspots. So far, my experience with this lotion is a happy story on all fronts. It’s gloriously multi-purpose as doesn’t contain any of my personal pore-cloggers, so I use it for both body and face when necessary. I’ve found it works very efficiently on a flaky complexion ravaged by climate and acne treatments. It’s served me well, too, as an everyday facial moisturiser whilst travelling. It’s a bit rich to adopt permanently for my face, but worth considering. Performance from the neck down is even more impressive – skin retains a good level of moisture, is smoother, more supple and prettier in an unclothed state; knuckles look much less raw and haggard; irritation from hot showers/ over-zealous exfoliation/ the wrong products is almost instantly calmed.

   The packaging is at best ironically retro and at worst something of an eyesore, but I’ve become quite fond of it. Think clinical, think red, white and blue, think patriotic minimalist chic.The spout is perfectly functional as far as body moisturisers go, but for facial use it’s on the generous side. I recommend decanting some of the product into a more suitable and/or aesthetically pleasing container, preferably one left over from your last lotion or potion.

   Admittedly if you have resilient skin, this is not the most elegant or bargainous option. Unless you happen not to like perfumed lotions, in which case, go forth and try it. For sensitive types, it comes highly recommended – from the rooftops, in fact. I like having a more indulgent body cream reserved for special occasions, but prefer something economical and straight-forwardly effective for daily use. This inexpensive ambrosia is the best candidate I’ve met so far. £5.95/200ml, from Boots, Holland & Barrett and independent health-food shops UK-wide.

   I admit – I am a lotion w***e. Fickle, but with standards for comparison. And this one is, IME, superb. As a bonus, it’s also an excellent facial moisturiser.

   It’s unfragranced, cruelty-free, and sensitive-friendly (including being nice to more serious forms of dermatitis). Paraben-free, contains lots of aloe vera, with borage seed oil, meadowfoam seed oil, liquorice root extract, and allantoin.

   I’ve now been using Allergenics’ cream for a while, and deriving much happiness from it. That led me to try out the lotion. It’s as satisfying. Nice and fluid but highly moisturizing; in texture, not unlike E45, Eucerin, or Nivea lotions. Doesn’t irritate skin, but makes skin feel pleasant and papered. Even this quite delicate and fussy skin.

   Available in many pharmacies and health-food places in the UK and Ireland, and also online. Costs about EUR 8.00 for 200 ml.
