I’m too health anxious about ingredients on the body products as body is obviously a much larger area than face. Thus I always go with super simple formulas like just a natural oil, mixing multiple natural oils, cocoa butter/shea butter, etc Also I avoid fragrance in all kinds of skin care products except for hair. And I avoid jar packaging as it’s not hygienic enough. So I will personally not purchase this but I understand these are not dealbreakers for everyone and my review if I were to avoid my dealbreakers…
The shea butter amount is very high and shea butter alone hydrates the skin well. As this cream did too. I got a bunch of samples and used them on my legs, feet, hands, and arms. These are all normal to slightly dry areas for me and the cream hydrated all of them well. In addition to shea butter it has some oils, one of which is apricot oil and it’s always good to see in skin care products. The texture is on the thick side but with the body’s heat it melts and absorbs quickly. I saw in another review “nutty smell,” I completely agree. The scent reminded me of hazelnut scent.

L’Occitane’s Ultra Rich Body Cream is a very hydrating body cream, with 25% Shea Butter. The Shea Butter makes it very hydrating on the skin, and gives the product a gentle scent. To me, the scent is a slightly nutty, clean scent – a fresh from the shower scent. It is a good scent to use if you use other scented products such as perfume and don’t want to clash. I find this to be very hydrating, it is great to use during winter when my skin is a bit drier. It leaves my skin feeling hydrated and very soft. I like that the cream absorbs quickly, meaning it doesn’t feel heavy or greasy on my skin. This is good for sensitive skin too as it is quite natural and not heavily fragrances. I really enjoy this product and would recommend it to anyone – it really is a great, basic product to have on hand. It comes in a large size tub, so it’s not the most convenient product to have if you are traveling, but it is excellent for home use.

This stuff is AMAZING. I got a sample of it and knew I had to have it. My hands are extremely dry to the point of cracking, and can appear quite wrinkly from dryness and tanning. That wreaks havoc on my hands. I use the one minute hand scrub, then put this stuff on and my hands look brand new! I can’t even put it into words. It’s not greasy and keeps them soft forever. It works great all over the body, too. It’s very pricey, but totally worth it. I’ll be buying again every time I run out!

Received this as a gift, although I never would purchase it for myself because of the price. It’s very moisturizing and excellent for winter, but I don’t care for the smell. It smells like baby lotion, which for me is kind of nauseating.

Moisturizing but not enough for winter. It did not last the whole day. Scent was subtle, linger a bit to much.

I have really dry skin with wet patches mostly on my forehead, so I really need a very moisturizing cream. This one, however, doesn’t moisturize so well keeping in mind that it is on the expensive side, and it didn’t live up to my expectations.
moreover, it left my skin red and feeling really tight.
I do not recommend this for dry and sensitive skin.

I’m about to go out and buy another tub of this ridiculously expensive body cream. Why you make be asking yourself? Very simple – it works for eczema. Specifically for my toddler son. We already have a huge collection of prescribed eczema creams from various pediatricians and dermatologist. The other emollient creams make him cry out because they ‘burn’. This is the first product that doesn’t make him next to Dermalex. **For those that don’t know, Dermalex is a British eczema cream. At almost £20 a tube (about $35 USD) it’s actually cheaper to buy this than Dermalex and I get triple the amount of cream.
I have eczema too, but not to the extent my toddler has. I also use this on my legs after I shave, but sparingly. It has a scent, but it’s not to overpowering.
Expensive – yes. Great for eczema – yes. Will I buy again – you bet.

L’Occitane does shea and body products very well. This body cream is exactly what it says – ultra rich body cream. But ultra rich without being sticky, greasy, cluggy. If you have a dry, dehydrated patch of skin, this goes over it so comfortably, a nice thick (but hydrating) consistency and leaves your skin feeling so soft.
Yes it’s fragranced, and yes it’s too heavy to use in summer or if you live in humid climates. But in winter, when you want more heaviness in your body products, this one is a HG.

First product I think I will put on automatic replenish. I have psoriasis and eczema and I have all kinds of prescriptions that are strong and scary. Tried this, use it every evening after my shower. It sinks in immediately, leaves my skin soft and feeling very comfortable. And it is clearing up the dry patches handily. I use the shea butter on the really tough spots in addition. I do like La Mer body cream too, but his is cheaper so I don’t mind using as much as I want and I just love it. Yay!

L’Occitane is well known for their shea products and the reasons for it are justified. Their shea hand cream and body cream are creamy and super moisturizing; the only thing you can beat them on is pricing as L’Occitane is not cheap. But if you feel like splurging and want a quality cream, this is it.
I must say it does take some massaging of the skin to get it to absorb as it is rather thick in consistency. The scent can make or break it I suppose but I for one love the clean powdery smell of the cream…it’s really not that overpowering compared to, say, fragrance laden products you find at B&BW at the mall.
Packaging for the body cream is pretty solid; it is all heavy duty plastic so there is no worry of dropping the container and shattering it (as you would for the equally delectable Almond Milk Concentrate body cream/lotion).
