Translucence loose powder is different than typical translucent loose setting powders. This actually offers sheer-to-light coverage! Imagine the mattifying, blurring effect of a High Definition silica powder and add to that equal parts powder foundation – that is what you get with Translucence. It gives my skin an airbrushed effect and helps to conceal discolorations my foundation and concealer didn’t cover. The texture is very smooth and applies easily with a large fluffy brush. This powder can be worn alone over moisturizer or sunscreen for a sheer, matte and smooth effect – it will help remove sunscreen white cast – or over foundation for extra “perfecting”. The perfected finish seems to last throughout the day. I do get shiny, but my skin still looks perfectly even.
Translucence comes in five shades: 100 – 500, which are levels that are “supposed” to coordinate with their foundation numbering system. If you wear 140 Ivoire, then shade 100 is a match. 340 Bisque? Shade 300. But I find the shades run dark, so definitely stop by a Lancome counter and test the colors out yourself. For example, shade 100 runs darker than the lightest Lancome foundations (such as shade 100 Ivoire in Teint Idole Ultra 24H). It seems to match closer lightest 200-level shades. I am a match to 210 Buff and 100 is perfect, 200 is way too dark.
The biggest flaw I found with Translucence is also one of its best qualities: The coverage. On certain days, Translucence can make my foundation look too heavy and cakey, especially if my skin is acting dehydrated. Then on other days when my skin is hydrated or when I’m not wearing full coverage foundations, the extra coverage looks beautiful.
I give Translucence a 4 rating because it does make skin look flawlessly beautiful and it’s a unique product in a market full of transparent no-coverage setting powders. It loses a score for being a little finicky and prone to looking cakey – moreso than normal loose powders, and because the lightest shade is too dark for the palest skin tones (100-110 shades in Lancome foundations). Update: I’ve actually used this powder up and repurchased!

Gorgeous, high-end packaging and the powder is so fine. I use it as a setter and a debris catcher under my eyes when I’m applying my Eye Shadow.

I just picked this up for the summer because I wanted something light and sheer to set my bb cream or tinted moisturizer. This loose setting powder comes in a few basic shades that offer a very sheer, translucent, and natural coverage. Even in the brightest sunlight, it looks like I’m not wearing any makeup. There is no longer a line between the end of my chin and my neck from my pressed powder:) My skin just looks natural and glowy with an even perfectly finished complexion.
