I love this sooo much better than the Light Reflecting Loose Setting Powder( broke me out ) I have used Soft Velvet Loose Powder for a year now without any complaints. This product hasn’t broken me out, works wonderfully on my normal skin. I have a simple routine of BB cream, concealer and finish off with this powder. It lasts the whole day and stays put. It looks so natural on me without the cakey look. Worth the $$$ as it has lasted me for a whole year. Given I don’t use it everyday. Just bought my 2’nd tub and I am still loving this. It is so sheer, finely milled and light with the right amount of coverage. I am a NC 40 and was matched with the color Mountain. Please NARS don’t change a thing about this product.

I had been on the hunt for a loose setting powder that wouldn’t make my combination skin look too dry, too cakey, and not emphasize my large pores and fine lines, especially around my eyes. I also didn’t want to pay a lot of money. This has been a very tall and not so successful order, until I came across this powder.
I was apprehensive because this powder is not translucent, you need to pick the shade for your skintone. I chose Flesh and it is a perfect match and actually blends into my skin better than the white, translucent, no color powders. I don’t find the packaging to be overly messy as I have with other loose powders.
This powder is blurring to my pores, doesn’t settle in the lines around my eyes and doesn’t cause my skin to look over powdered, cakey or dry, but lasts all day and keeps my makeup in place.
I apply with a damp beauty blender and it works well. I feel like I tried every reasonably priced loose powder on the market, and this one is the winner.

I wear the Sheer Glow Foundation in Cadiz and this Loose Velvet Powder in Mountain. I love the that it stops the oiliness without taking away from the look of the foundation. It doesn’t look powdery and there’s no fragrance.

My skin is crazy oily, and I think I’ve found my HG setting powder.
This is the first cosmetic I’ve ever bought that’s not only done what it said it would do, but actually EXCEEDED the claims it made.
I put this on in the morning, and I don’t need to touch up until maybe 8-9 hours later. Considering most foundations melt off of my face within 5 hours, that’s a damn near miracle. I kind of stipple this stuff on with a fluffy powder brush, and it not only blurs out my pores, but also creates this beautiful, soft, glowing effect on my skin. It’s literally insanity. IT WORKS!
I had all but given up on Nars sheer glow – I adore the foundation but the longevity with my oily skin was just pitiful. So I tried it with this powder, and it now lasts me ALL DAY. I went from being shiny within 3-4 hours, to being slightly shiny after 10 hours. Don’t get me wrong, by the end of the work day, if I don’t touch up with a bit of powder at lunch time, I’m definitely shiny. But a) it’s not that bad at all, and b) the way the oil comes through with this isn’t a gross oily shine, it’s more of a glowy pleasant shine. It has enabled me to use my sheer glow again, and I’m so happy!
Also, the packaging is excellent. It’s NARS style classy, but also very functional. The loose powder sifter thing isn’t spazz and doesn’t dispense stupid amounts of powder at once. It also doesn’t spill everywhere. It isn’t too hard to get powder out, but it also isn’t too easy, it’s just right (calm down Goldilocks).
Long story short – my oily sisters, your time has come. Praise be to NARS!

This is a new range of face powders that come in colors for different complexions. I purchased this in the color Flesh. The powder is a soft focus powder that is supposed to control oil but contains hyaluronic acid to not be drying. I really like this as a finishing powder for longer wear of foundation during the day. I have also worn it over a tinted moisturizer as it does have a blurring effect over pores and imperfections and a tiny amount of color payoff. It is very comfortable to wear. The packaging is great in that tons of powder doesn’t come out of the holes leaving you with a mess every time you go to use it. Highly recommend.
