The small jar (only 4 grams, which is ok for me, because I can’t remember when I last used up a jar of loose powder.) of Miracle Veil Radiant Loose Powder caught my eye at my local pharmacy, so I swatched it on my hand. Since I didn’t like the tiny sparkly particles showing up under the halogen lights it was a pass.
Right after I went to Sephora to check out the Hourglass Ambient and Veil powders. Swatching the Veil it looked just as sparkly as the Max Factor powder. Even though I have very little experience with Max Factor products, at 1/3 of the price of Hourglass I decided to pick it up on my way home.
I used it once or twice and thought it was ok. It looked less powdery than most powders I had tried. Then after a bout of flu when I hadn’t even washed my face, I faced the damage done in my bathroom mirror, put on a bit of Urban Decay One and Done and in my head said: that face does NOT need powdering!
But instead of using a powder brush I applied Miracle Veil with a duo fiber one and somehow I looked better than before. 30 minutes later I looked even better! The sparkles don’t show as sparkles at all. And every subsequent use it performed just as well – my skin looked better than before I put it on.
It’s a flesh-toned (think the “universal” band aid colour. Nothing to get excited about…), talc free powder that comes in you usual sifter type jar. I’m not sure the colour will show up on anyone, but it’s undetectable on my NC20/C2 skin. But then I don’t go overboard with it. My skin is dry/combo so no powder will look good caked onto it. If I’m in a rush I use a spray over it, but mostly it only takes fifteen minutes for any powderiness go away.
We’ll see if I buy it again when my jar is finished ot if I cave in and get the Hourglass version that I’m pretty sure Max Factor were aiming to dupe here.
