The one I have doesn’t have the word “Gold” in it’s name. It’s written on it’s packaging: BareMinerals You’re Brilliant, all-over face color & brush duo..It’s written on the back of it: “Collection includes: Chic Radiance All-Over Face Color (a sheer wash of sunkissed sugar glow) and Mini Flawless Application Brush
BareMinerals products aren’t sold in my country.I asked a friend who lives in Canada to buy and bring me a foundation(Bareskin Pure Brightening Serum Foundation) and a setting powder.she told me she had seen a radiant setting powder in a big sale for only 5 CND and I said that I want it.
when I received it,I was shocked to see it’s color.I have fair skin with slightly olive, golden undertone (Mac C1,Armani Luminous skin 4.5, Gobbi in Nars foundations) and I don’t think that I can use this all over my face as It’s supposed to be used.I have WetnWild Bronzer Reserve Your Cabana and I sometimes(rarely) apply it all over my face and use it as a radiant, setting powder but this one is too dark, and too red, orange (at least on my light skin) to be used as a setting powder but I quickly noticed that it can work as a very nice bronzer with a satin-like finished (it’s not truely shimmery so I believe satin like is a better word to describe it),it’s color is very close to Bourjois Delice de Poudre Bronzing Powder in shade 51 which is my go to bronzer (just that one is almost matte)
I LOVE it’s packaging. It’s little(contains 0.85 gram powder),easy to carry in a makeup bag and I like that it has a sifter which we can put into open or close position by turning it right or left,it’s a bit less messy than most loose powders.as mentioned before the powder is not glittery or even too shimmery,it doesn’t look powdery, dry or patchy, doesn’t sit on top of skin and doesn’t exagérate pores.just make sure to tap away the excess and add more layers of it one after the other because it can look uneven if you apply too much in one time,I hope I find a way to open it up when I finished with it and fill it with another powder,it’s brush is really tiny, soft, more dense than what I had thought and I like it as I can carry it in a purse and use it for some touchups(forexample brushing away mascara flakes)
Even though it’s not what I was looking for,I’m glad to have it as most bronzers are too dark and harsh for me.I wish it had more golden, less red undertone so that I could use it as an all over face color..I might repurchase only if it was available in my country and I could find it again with a great discount

The sales pitch during the winter holiday 2010 said:
“We’ve infused our Mineral Veil finishing powder with real gold powder to indulge your bare skin with the warm radiant glow of pure gold. This limited-edition Brightening Gold Mineral Veil imparts a subtle, sheer pearlescent glow to your skin, while gently absorbing oil and minimizing the look of fine lines and pores for a fresh, flawless look all day. Cased in a gold custom-color mirrored compact, it’s the perfect travel partner for fast, on-the-go touchups. Also includes custom gold-finished Buff & Go Brush.”

I bought this on deep sale when it was being discontinued, from the Bare Escentuals website. I wasn’t particularly interested in the powder, i just wanted the case and brush so i could take my bareMinerals foundation with me. Of course, once it arrived i had to try out the powder… It is a warm tinted Mineral Veil with the faintest of shimmer, not quite as airy in consistency as ordinary Mineral Veil (i love that stuff!).

I am not into the current bronzer craze, although i do own a couple bronzers. And i remember the contouring craze back in the 70s when brown-ish powders and creams were used to give the face more apparent bone structure, something i did do. Because Brightening Gold is a somewhat deeper color than my Original Foundation in Fairly Light, although not as dark as most bronzers, i dust it on where one might normally use contouring powder or bronzer: on my temples, brow ridge, and the underside of my cheekbones.
.
I probably wouldn’t buy the powder again. There is absolutely nothing wrong with it, it’s nice stuff. But, while it is very nice, it is neither something very special or unusual nor is it an essential for me.

I usually don’t splurge on products like this, but I bought at as a Christmas gift for myself. I saw the tester at Ulta, and immediately coveted the pretty gold compact and brush! Then I tried some of the product on my hand–it is so fine and silky–and I was hooked! I was only worried about 2 things: that the powder might be too shimmery, and that the compact might not be refillable. Well, the powder is hardly shimmery at all; it just poofs a ‘veil’ of perfection over your skin–looks lovely and feels good. I’ve been using this as my finishing powder nearly every day. I haven’t used the brush yet, I guess I’m saving it for some time when I want something more glam than the usual in my purse. The tester brush was super soft, though, so I’m sure mine will be fine. As a thrifty person, I’m looking forward to reusing the compact when the powder is gone. This is a truly lovely set in every way, and definitely worth the money!
