It appears as though I’ve spent a lot of my life searching for the perfect structure color match as well as formula. I have a LOT of horror stories. I made use of to put on the Px Custom Blend structure prior to they left the stores. As I mentioned in my CB powder evaluation, the first round of CB structure was simply okay, not perfect. However, the 2nd round of CB structure matched flawlessly! The main problem was that the wear not excellent. That problem was partly as a result of the Clinique Significantly Different cream I was using under it (likewise reviewed in one more testimonial). Additionally, back then there were no setup sprays.
Fast ahead to this week: I grabbed Px Digital Skin Super-Natural Finish structure (VS SNF) in 11 Real Antelope at a swipe of a price from Nordstrom Shelf to see if it would function. I did not wish to invest 40.00 on a structure from the Px website just to discover it was not a suit as I had actually heard they changed the formula and the colors. The Px Conversation box said they did not alter either, yet that understands?
EDIT: I did contrast it to an old Px Oil-Free Exact Shade make-up I still had in Antelope and VS SNF is a bit warmer, yet this shade is better for me. As others have claimed both right here as well as on the Px website, the VS SNF insurance coverage is very sheer. Most of the issues compare it to Virtual Matte, which is discontinued. These two are not the very same formula. Also grievances concerning it being splotchy: I constantly discuss my make-up with a moist sponge prior to it dries to blend. Px Conversation mentioned the only transfer-resistant foundation they provide is the Flawless Skin. Not being a large fan of full protection, sheer is no problem for me as well as is a lot more forgiving if the color match is not exact. I favor to shake a no-makeup-makeup take a look at work anyhow. My favorite for this look utilized to be NARS powder foundation SPF 12 in Jamaica (terminated). I preferred the old formula over the more recent All Day Luminous powder SPF 24 as the oldie did not crumble (I believe the new one is being discontinued too). My long-ago fave for light coverage was Px Instant Face Face in Degree 5, a powder structure that saw me through graduate college (redeemed 3X). Depressing to see it go as it was ideal for me in every method.
Why Px VS SNF? Estee Lauder Double Put On Stay-in-Place (EL DW SP) does not benefit me– it is too hefty, also completely dry, and as well matte. And also, I have actually never located the proper color. The closest suits for me in EL DW SP are either as well red-orange (5N2) or too dark (5W2). Same troubles with Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra 24H (460W Suede) and Fenty Pro Filt’r Hydrating foundation (420 ): both are as well dark. Is it my imagination or do these two completely dry down darker? I also like a little brilliance, or at the very least not a dry, matte coating. Maybe the problem is with the make-up artists/associates in the shops who can not seem to match me? I have deep skin with olive and also yellow touches, which is the reason I turned to acquiring Px CB several years ago, out of disappointment. I likewise make use of Px All Skins Mineral powder makeup in Level 5 Cozy (pretty good match). I don’t believe it must be this hard! But, I digress …
Anyhow, often I do desire a little bit much more insurance coverage. I took care of the Px Online Skin ‘as well sheer’ problem by mixing in a little Urban Decay Velvetizer powder (the travel size is likewise for sale at Nordstrom Shelf), or a little L’Oreal Paris Hydra Perfecte powder (my shade is Deep, yet that color is terminated and difficult to find) before application. Both powders are really finely crushed as well as the blends functioned completely to give the structure a lot more coverage, even more lasting power, as well as did not transform the color or the surface. I like Px VS SNF very much as well as it is a respectable off-the-shelf suit for my complexion. Keep in mind: no pump on this infant. Antelope is the color I used to buy before I went the CB route. I have delicate, combo skin and also Px make-up has actually never brought about burst out– I used much of their formulas back then. Ladies, if you thought about acquiring this structure from Px but were rate immune, rush over to Nordstrom Shelf online as well as get yours before it is gone. Excellent cost at about 50% off. I will update this testimonial after more comprehensive wear tests with as well as without guide, establishing spray, in the rain, and as it obtains warmer. Will see if it transforms orange as some Px customers claim.

No more discontinued: Prescriptives is back from the dead and marketed just on their website (not at cosmetic counters.) It was a hugely preferred brand in the 80’s and also 90’s and the commercial grey packaging was unique. Nevertheless, EL ceased the line yet brought it back in 2010 as online only. The line was known for skin-care like make-up and also the foundation was among one of the most popular along with its powder. I was a huge follower of the structure and also powder, and lip products. Of the eye as well as cheek, not a lot; they appeared (like many EL eye items) to irritate and oxidize in the frying pan.
So how is the structure? It’s practically as I bear in mind and as I used it, I was thrilled to really feel the very same “skin care like” comforting feeling. The color, a blue red “Real Lotion” was a very good match for my trendy tone, med reasonable skin. It blended in with tool insurance coverage and the advertised “All-natural Feeling” is what I experienced. I love the feel of this on my skin. It was my HG foundation years earlier and it still rocks! I have actually not had luck searching for anything I such as so well as this foundation in years and boy, am I grateful it is back.
I would certainly state it has tool wear; by the end of a long day I really did not see any on my skin. But my skin felt great. I bought a back-up bottle on sale at Nordstrom Shelf. Blast from the past however wow, so welcome.

I enjoy this foundation. It’s medium insurance coverage that’s buildable and also is beautiful on my skin. Really all-natural surface. I’ve tried Tarte, IT, Clinique, MAC, ELDW and also plenty of medication store brands like L’Oréal True Matcch and Burt’s Bees as well as Rimmel. I keep returning to this although it’s 40 dollars a bottle. Likewise the shade range is unrivaled. HG foundation for me.

It seems as though I’ve spent most of my life trying to find the perfect foundation shade match and formula. I have a LOT of horror stories. I used to wear the Px Custom Blend foundation before they left the stores. As I stated in my CB powder review, the first round of CB foundation was just okay, not perfect. However, the second round of CB foundation matched perfectly! The main problem was that the wear not great. That issue was partially due to the Clinique Dramatically Different moisturizer I was wearing under it (also discussed in another review). Also, back in the day there were no setting sprays.
Fast forward to this week: I picked up Px Virtual Skin Super-Natural Finish foundation (VS SNF) in 11 Real Antelope at a steal of a price from Nordstrom Rack to see if it would work. I did not want to spend 40.00 on a foundation from the Px site only to find it was not a match as I had heard they changed the formula and the colors. The Px Chat box said they did not change either, but who knows?
EDIT: I did compare it to an old Px Oil-Free Exact Color makeup I still had in Antelope and VS SNF is a bit warmer, but this shade is better for me. As others have said both here and on the Px website, the VS SNF coverage is very sheer. Most of the complaints compare it to Virtual Matte, which is discontinued. These two are not the same formula. Also complaints about it being splotchy: I always go over my makeup with a damp sponge before it dries to blend. Px Chat stated the only transfer-resistant foundation they offer is the Flawless Skin. Not being a big fan of full coverage, sheer is no problem for me and is more forgiving if the shade match is not exact. I prefer to rock a no-makeup-makeup look at work anyway. My favorite for this look used to be NARS powder foundation SPF 12 in Jamaica (discontinued). I preferred the old formula over the newer All Day Luminous powder SPF 24 as the oldie did not crumble (I think the new one is being discontinued too). My long-ago favorite for light coverage was Px Instant Face Face in Level 5, a powder foundation that saw me through grad school (repurchased 3X). Sad to see it go as it was perfect for me in every way.
Why Px VS SNF? Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place (EL DW SP) does not work for me — it is too heavy, too dry, and too matte. Plus, I have never found the correct shade. The closest matches for me in EL DW SP are either too red-orange (5N2) or too dark (5W2). Same problems with Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra 24H (460W Suede) and Fenty Pro Filt’r Hydrating foundation (420): both are too dark. Is it my imagination or do these two dry down darker? I also like a little radiance, or at least not a dry, matte finish. Maybe the problem is with the makeup artists/associates in the stores who cannot seem to match me? I have deep skin with olive and yellow undertones, which is the reason I resorted to buying Px CB many years ago, out of frustration. I also use Px All Skins Mineral powder makeup in Level 5 Warm (pretty good match). I don’t think it should be this hard! But, I digress…
Anyway, sometimes I do want a bit more coverage. I fixed the Px Virtual Skin ‘too sheer’ problem by mixing in a little Urban Decay Velvetizer powder (the travel size is also on sale at Nordstrom Rack), or a bit of L’Oreal Paris Hydra Perfecte powder (my shade is Deep, but that shade is discontinued and hard to find) before application. Both powders are very finely milled and the mixes worked perfectly to give the foundation more coverage, more lasting power, and did not change the shade or the finish. I like Px VS SNF very much and it is a pretty good off-the-shelf match for my skin tone. Note: no pump on this baby. Antelope is the shade I used to buy before I went the CB route. I have sensitive, combo skin and Px makeup has never led to break outs — I used many of their formulas back in the day. Ladies, if you considered buying this foundation from Px but were price resistant, hustle over to Nordstrom Rack online and get yours before it is gone. Great price at about 50% off. I will update this review after more extensive wear tests with and without primer, setting spray, in the rain, and as it gets warmer. Will see if it turns orange as some Px reviewers say.

I love this foundation. It’s medium coverage that’s buildable and is gorgeous on my skin. Very natural finish. I’ve tried Tarte, IT, Clinique, MAC, ELDW and countless drug store brands like L’Oréal True Matcch and Burt’s Bees and Rimmel. I keep coming back to this even though it’s 40 bucks a bottle. Also the color range is unparalleled. HG foundation for me.

Hi, more a question than a review. I was “prescribed” prescriptives foundation in Red Petal (All Skins Basic) when I was 16) (38 now) for my prom and used it religiously thereafter – i believe either the formulation or color were discontinued and throughout my 20s i continued to order either it or a similar color/formulation on ebay (and/or ordered similar colors/coverages from to light and medium-heavy and mixed them together). The last color i applied was camellia – slightly too light/yellow but the texture was what I knew and loved. Anyway, i’ve been trying to use Dior blends for two years now and when i ran out, applied my last remaining Rx and remembered why i loved it so much. I’ve basically been making my own custom blends for years, but the raw materials are no longer available. what luck have people had with the “make your own” foundation? esp. for fair skin reds?? Close to $80 is a lot to shell out on a hope and a prayer.

I have worn Prescriptives Virtual Matte foundation for at least 15 years and loved it, until my last 2 bottles. It has been reformulated so it now streaks, cakes, and has lost the dewy look it once had. I am at the end of a bottle and looking for a new brand, this time I will buy one that is totally organic and 100% chemical free. I don’t know why companies think they can reformulate their products without advising their long-time customers of their decisions. Was this done to save money, use less expensive ingredients, to add more chemicals or for other reasons? I don’t know because they didn’t say but they lost a customer. I would have continued to buy the old formulation but I do not like this new one at all and I won’t buy it again. At $40 a bottle this is not a cheap product.

I have sworn by Prescriptives Virtual Skin for nearly 15 years. I always received compliments on my skin; even though Virtual Skin was covering up any flaws on my skin, it still looked so natural and not like I was wearing makeup. However, when they reformulated a few years ago, the product is nothing like it used to be. It streaks, doesn’t blend well, doesn’t set well and doesn’t last well. They also eliminated some colors and the color that used to be a perfect match for me is now darker and looks too dark on my skin. So sad that the product is not what it used to be and I am still on the quest for a new HG foundation (have tried way too many at this point and none are living up to the old Virtual Skin).

I have fair skin (I’m between shades 10 and 12 in Marc Jacobs foundation concentrate). I used to buy Prescriptives when they still had counters at the Mall and loved their foundation. I stumbled across Prescriptives online in my search for a new foundation and ordered this in the lightest warm shade.
This foundation was a strange color on me. It was far too dark and didn’t look like skin, it had a strange greenish/ muddy cast. The finish was very tacky and greasy looking. Somehow it also accentuated every pore on my face and brought out old acne scars I didn’t even know I had.
I was disappointed, I paid $42 for this foundation. I think for that price it should be better quality. This cosmetic line is nothing like I remember.

The first thing I want to say is that while this is not available in stores, you can still purchase it online. Shipping is free as are returns. Sales or gwp are frequent.
I have been using foundation since I was a young teen which was many years ago. For a long time I used Estee Lauder demi matte which was wonderful though I did need to powder my nose mid day with it. (I am wearing it in the 1981 pic in my profile) Alas, that product was discontinued , and I moved on- to Prescriptives Virtual Skin which I am wearing in Real Ivory in my profile pic.
The coverage on this is light to mediumt. The finish is natural. The best thing is that it totally lives up to its name. This looks like your skin – the very best version of your skin. Most people will not think you are wearing foundation. I have had people remark about my amazing skin and told them, ” I don’t have amazing skin. I have amazing makeup.”
In recent years I began trying other foundations just to see if I could do better. My skin is aging and I think it is good to rethink your look every 5-10 years. None compared to this, and I tried – CoverFX, Lancome, Estee Lauder, Clinique, Nars, Becca, Hourglass, Chanel, the list goes on. Seriously, if you can match it to my skin, I probably tried it!
I would recommend this to everyone except those seeking full coverage and especially to those with sensitive /prone to breakouts skin like mine.

I wonder if they have changed the formula for the better. This used to be my favorite foundation being it withstood my cardio and strength training sessions, and resisted humidity. The color match was awesome too! It was medium coverage on me, and left me flawless. But they “improved” the formula. After that, it dissolved in white streaks when I sweat. I couldn’t even reserve it for occasions, as I did not dare get caught in a downpour. Since then I have been using EL DW. Will never repurchase.

I’d previously used this foundation in my teens and early 20s and LOVED it. That was until I discovered CHANEL’s Teint Fluide Universel (in shade “Clair”) and it became my HG foundation. Sadly, Teint Fluide Universel has since been discontinued and I haven’t (as yet) found anything that comes close.
When I used this foundation previously, I had been color matched at a local department store. (Yep, I started using Prescriptives when they still had their own counters in stores!) The rep who matched me recommended the shade Real Cream 02 . This worked for me (or did it?) for years, until I switched to Chanel foundations. Once the Chanel foundation was discontinued, I spent the last couple of years switching back and forth between drug store foundations, but never finding something that really fit me.
2 weeks ago I was browsing online and decided to see if Prescriptives’ Virtual Skin still existed. It did, and I promptly ordered a bottle in Real Cream 02. When it arrived, it clearly wasn’t the foundation for me. I don’t know if my skin’s tone has changed over the years, or if I wasn’t matched correctly when I first got color matched at the Prescriptives counter. Real Cream had far too much yellow undertone and was too dark for me. I looked majorly jaundiced wearing it. The other thing I really didn’t like about it was that it didn’t allow me to build decent coverage. I guess back when I started using it that light/medium coverage was fine, but now that I’m older I feel like I need a little more! I returned the Real Cream 02 shade to Prescriptives, went online and took their color match quiz. According to their color match quiz, my skin has COOL undertones and the site recommended that I choose Real Rose 23 or Real Camelia 22. I chose the Real Rose shade and waited for my order to arrive. When I received my second order, the Real Rose 23 shade was TOO DARK for my skin. WTF? It also did NOTHING to cover all those little imperfections on my face like the CHANELTeint Fluide Universel could do perfectly. Sadly, I had to send my second shipment back to Prescriptives. I thought about trying to order another foundation from them, but I was really bummed out after two different orders didn’t work for me. When Prescriptives was in stores, I loved using their products and was a loyal customer. Heck, my MakeupAlley user name is a nod to one of their perfumes – Calyx – one of my all time favorites. I might try their foundations again one day, but for now my search for a HG replacement for the CHANEL Teint Fluide Universel continues.
