A little too thick looking on my skin
truthfulMeerkat1
I bought this foundation because I love their concealer. I tried to shade match at ULTA and thought I was a T2W HONEY HONEY but it turns out I am a T1N HONEY HONEY. I was very surprised how yellow the W pulled on me (though maybe I’m not as warm as I thought or it’s due to the recent lack of sunlight). I ordered it only via Black Friday sale and it came really quick. The foundation was really runny when I tried to apply it the first time, I had to shake it very hard to mix it and it came out creamier. I don’t mind the shaking since the Nars rep as Sephora told me I’m suppose to do that with the Nars Radiance foundation.
I think the coverage is medium with one pump. I’ve worn this for two days and I think it holds my shine as good as the others (I don’t bake or heavily set my face). I also use a offbrand beauty blender to apply the product.

Unlike many others, I actually discovered this product through my Selfridges app in the ‘New in for you’ section. I was really intrigued as I hadn’t heard of the brand before and decided to try it. I have combination (leaning towards oily in the summer) skin, however because this has been marketed as a matte foundation, I made sure I hydrated well underneath.
I’ve tried this foundation on 4 separate occasions with small tweaks in how I applied: once with a mattifying primer underneath (desert central), twice mixing in Charlotte Tilbury’s Hollywood Filter mixed in to make the foundation glide easier (greasy and cakey), once just with the Guerlain Meteorites primer underneath. On all 4 occasions, while the foundation applied somewhat nicely, it always had a greasy (and thick) look to it. A few hours in, and it just looked cakey, despite only using a 1.5 pumps (and not even finishing that). I also applied with a beautyblender each time, just because this is the way I apply all my foundations.
Pros:
– It’s medium to full coverage (if you like that sort of thing).
– It’s actually quite thick, so you really don’t need a lot.
– No fragrance!!
– It’s long lasting.
Cons:
– It looks cakey, after a few hours, no matter what you do or how lightly you apply it.
– I’m not keen on the overall finish. I know from using other foundations what a good finish looks like, and this just looks like you applied foundation on your face. It kind of just sits there.
– Don’t apply over mattifying primer and don’t apply too much powder over it! You’ll look like you came straight out of the 90s.
– Not sure about the shade match. I initially bought Brown Sugar T4W (too reddish) and then T4N (still leaning red, but slightly better).
– Transfer!!!! 🙁
In summary, I have other foundations that work really well without all the fuss. And they make my skin look gorgeous. Some I have to mix (Dior Backstage), some I don’t (NARS, Smashbox, Fenty, Cover FX), but either way, there are better options out there. I gave it 3 lippies because it isn’t a terrible foundation and others may have better luck with it.
For reference I am Dark 3 in NARS Sheer Glow, Deep Spice in Estee Lauder Doublewear, 450 or 445 in Fenty Beauty, N110 in Cover FX Power Play, 06W in Guerlain Lingerie de Peau, 4.25 (or 4.3) in Smashbox Studio Skin.
