This foundation is everything I need it to be. It is matte and therefore you definitely need to moisturize properly before applying and a good primer will give optimal results. With that said, I use this foundation daily and I always get lots of compliments. The coverage is a medium but is buildable to full when needed. The result is a very natural look which holds up for hours without any signs for letting up. I have not tried this out in the winter, but hopefully, it won’t be too dry.

Because this is matte it does go on dry…..it was a little too heavy for me…

I picked up a few colour samples of this at Sephora in Broadway as this product is hard to get in-store in Sydney, at Westfield Bondi Junction also have a stand. I work in a warehouse- hot, humid, sticky, yucky and also sometimes outside in the sun/heat. I have extremely oily skin – esp my nose which is like a Texas oil well – but this makeup stayed on for my 8 hour work shift and then some. It does set in quite a powdery finish (which is why I did 4 stars) – so if you are looking for a bit of healthy dewy glow you probably won’t get that with this product – but being an oil producing champion I found this matte finish was exactly what I needed for a full coverage look. It takes a little while to fully dry on the skin – maybe 15 minutes, but it did not go patchy or break up on my skin and no irritations. My nose did need touching up a few times- but that is normal for me with any foundation. I use a Napoleon powder over the top to set my foundations and sometimes a Clinique concealer for under-eye darkness, both of these seemed to work fine with this product. I have tried soooo many foundations, as my wonderful Elizabeth Arden Flawless finish 24h foundation discontinued my colour I have been forced to change brands….. I tried so many other foundations – from Maybelline (which broke up), MAC (which caused my eyes to water and skin to itch), Max Factor (which broke up), Lancome (skin irritations) and the list goes on – but it seems that my search may be over as I will be purchasing a bottle of Matte Velvet skin on-line tonight. I def recommend trying a sample of this product.

I have dry skin. This did not to keep my s skin hydrated. It felt like a coating of plastic was covering my face. It set matte. Great color choices but after a week my skin felt extra dried out.

This is ok. I apply it with a beauty blender over hourglass mineral veil primer and it lasts all day, no creasing, no oiliness. It is quite drying though. I usually wear it for 10-12 hours each day in a hot humid climate and it does last but looks dry and feels uncomfortable by the end of the day The colour y225 Matches ok, a little bit too yellow but I can make it work, the best shade I can find from the range.

This one is going back.
I wasn’t a fan of the original version, but I figured I’d try this new one based on reviews….nope, it still doesn’t work for my skin.
I have combination skin, a bit dehydrated now in the wintertime, and this foundation just won’t apply smoothly and evenly. It highlights flaky patches I didn’t know I had (none of my other foundations do that), and it basically fades off portions of my face as the hours go by, without me touching it. Blotting also removes some of it. Again, I don’t have this problem with any of the other foundations I’m using (ELDW, Smashbox Studio Skin, Revlon Candid).
In fact, applying it is challenging, as it doesn’t spread easily, and it streaks as I spread it around. I’ve tried it with both a damp BB and a brush, the BB is marginally better than the brush but still not great.
Coverage is medium I’d say, but I don’t have much to cover other than reddish skin.
I don’t get oily with it, so I’m not even sure why it fades off my face?
What I do like about it is the scent upon application (a chemical-flowery one that goes away within 10 minutes or so), the tube (I love tube foundations), and the shade range (I’m sure there is something for everybody).
But these pluses are just not enough to justify the price.
I will return and get my staple instead, ELDW.

I absolutely love this product, my holy grail foundation at the moment. When this foundation is applied with a beauty blender and set with CT foundation powder, it looks like my real skin for the entire day. When I come home, my skin’s a little oily but the foundation doesn’t separate and look spotty. I love it!

I wasn’t sure if this would live up to MUFE’s original Mat Velvet+ foundation, but honestly, the two foundations are quite different and shouldn’t be compared. This foundation feels and looks much thinner on the skin and is much more buildable than the original. The first layer is about medium-coverage (when I apply with a sponge0 but it can easily be layered for more coverage.
The finish is demi-matte / natural and looks amazing on my oily skin. Also, I’m AMAZED by the color range!! I have no less than three matches, which is really rare for my yellow/olive NC25 skin. (Most other makeup brands don’t make a shade that is both yellow and light). I decided my best match was 255, but I can also wear 245 easily. They look identical on my skin.
Also, shout out to the packaging! The squeeze tube with the small nozzle is super travel-friendly and will make sure that not a bit of product goes to waste.

After my failed attempt with Kat Von D’s Lock-It, I had given up on a full-coverage foundation in my shade. While aimlessly browsing Sephora, I came across this new (or, rather, revised[?]) foundation and noticed it came in the same shade as my current foundation (Ultra HD, also by MUFE–a great colour match but lacking in the coverage department)! After testing out a sample, I did something I have never done before: I bought this from the brand’s website at FULL PRICE, AND payed for shipping. I can’t recall the last time I payed full price for anything, much less makeup.
What made me do such a crazy, out of character thing? Let me count the reasons. First, a little really goes a long way. Using a damp generic ~beauty sponge~, just a tiny drop on each major area is sufficient to cover my significant hyperpigmented scars almost completely (I can never get concealer to look right, so this is important). It’s a thick formula which takes the dampness of the sponge well, so you can place it first on the areas in need of coverage and blend it out from there. The finish is matte as advertised, yet avoids looking unnatural and does not dry me out. I don’t feel the need to use a primer with this baby (though if you’re v oily it still might be a good idea). I usually set it with powder from Meow Cosmetics (another holy grail), and unlike some other foundation formulas which cause gross separation when topped with powder, the two products get along very nicely and meld into each-other.
The performance is what made me ultimately decide to spring for this. It endures some serious *cough* amorous activity *cough* and I am actually not horrified by the sight of my face afterwards! I imagine athletic people would enjoy it for the same reasons.
The packaging is another thing I love about this. It’s a slim squeeze tube, which I vastly prefer for both sanitary and safety reasons (glass bottles, prone to spillage and breakage, seem primitive in comparison). It’s just plain elegant and isn’t a space hog (unlike the HD packaging, which is way too much plastic). Frankly, I wish they sold this in a half-size, even if it meant paying more per ounce, just because you only need to use so little I doubt I’ll get though this any time soon.
In conclusion: God bless this foundation.
