I’ve been buying this for a few years now to replace concealer in my routine. I tried using the NYX drops as a dupe, but the cover fx drops look much less cake-y. However, when I went to sephora to restock, I noticed the bottles changed quite a bit. The old drops had 15ml of product, the new ones have 7.5ml. They halved it but didn’t halve the price. I can’t justify buying these anymore.

I kept thinking, I bought a bad bottle of COVER FX drops. It’s been said, to add 1-4 drops to foundation depending on what coverage you’d like. I got maybe 2 dropper uses on separate occasions until the liquid turned into thick foundation inside the bottle. After that, I’ve swiped the thick goo off the dropper to mix into my regular foundation.
I shook the bottle thinking I had to mix the ingredients, but it’s like I got less than half a bottles worth of this stuff. I hear and feel nothing from within the black bottle. The GOO, clinging to the walls of the bottle, a lot of it around the inner lip.
It isn’t cheap, and I got it on sale from Sephora. I thought I was getting something pretty cool to add to my foundation arsenal. The idea of what it could do, was Promising… Only, to be Disappointed ! I have light sunspots and no, it didn’t cover up. Three drops made my foundation matte and my skin dry looking, even with moisturizer.

I can’t say that I’m surprised to see a mix of ratings for this–it seems like it requires a lot of work for a concept that’s pretty simple. These are pigment drops that can be added to just about anything for foundation-like coverage. I think the success or failure of this depends entirely on how well the Cover FX drops work with whatever “base” they’re blended with.
I use this to just even out my skin tone a little. Usually my skin is reasonably well behaved (oily, with a touch of dehydration), so I’m only looking for a bit of sheer coverage. It works well with LRP Anthelios AOX (my HG sunscreen) when I use 2 pumps AOX and 1 drop Cover FX–it’s enough to cover my entire face. I like that it gives just a hint of color with that ratio.
That said, it’s easy for this to go wrong too. Use too much and it’s hard to blend. Use it with something that it’s not compatible with (like my moisturizer) and it can be a streaky mess. When you use this with the “right” product, it’s fantastic, but it does take a fair amount of trial and error to get it right, and it may not work with your HG products.
Overall, this won’t replace my foundation entirely (I’ll still use a real foundation for special occasions), but this works well with my everyday sunscreen. For that reason, I give it a solid 4/5, but I can easily see how it won’t work for everyone.

I had such hopes for this!
It sounds great. Add colour and coverage to anything!
Sadly it is a pigment in dry oil and cannot be mixed into just anything because of the oil.
It doesn’t like water based products and is drying and these run darker than traditional shades with cover fx so p20 in the foundation is lighter than these drops.
The price is high and the bottle is glass and smashes easily.
And on that note about the bottle- air messes this formula up and it will turn thick and goopy.. it’s meant to be a thin liquid not thick but after you open it twice the air ruins it! So unfortunate.
I got three others and they were all the same even after they said they fixed the issue
I wouldn’t rebuy this.
This settles into the pores like little dots and will sit on your skin because it can’t melt in due to the oil it’s in.

This did not work with any of the sunscreen/moisturizers I use. Any more than one drop, it settles in the pores like little skin colored dots all over your face. One drop gave ok coverage, but still settled into pores a little. I really had to blend it away. Didn’t finish the product.

I’m sad. I do love this product and the idea, but I got home and opened the bottle and it was a thick goopy mess, I returned and exchanged at Sephora and…… The same thing is wrong with the new bottle, but I don’t understand how….. She checked it before I left and it was fine. So…. I’m just gonna keep it and hope I can find a way to return it back to its liquid state… But that packaging really needs improvement to keep the product stable. I did use it and it worked well mixed in with other products, just a pain and messy with the thicker consistency.

This is a nice idea but it does change the texture of everything I mix it with, the drops leave quite a dewy finish and I’m very oily so I prefer matte. I have struggled to find matte foundation that doesn’t look caked on
My skin, the idea was to blend these with my primers for a tinted oil blotting effect. They seem to make all my matte primers more greasy ?? I have also mixed them with thicker foundations and they thin out the consistency. So the claim that they only add pigment seems untrue to me. I feel I could get the same results by just mixing a any old fluid foundation

I love this product. I add it to my tarte rainforest foundation for extra coverage. I also mix this with argon oil and I get a nice Dewey glow. It didn’t break me out. The only bad part is that this foundation can transfer but setting powder + setting spray helps. I would definitely repurchase.

This product is so easy to use! I was matched to and bought N40. It’s the perfect shade! Today I used it with my Fenty primer and my face looks flawless. I love the flexibility of adding this to whatever lotion or face cream I need to use that day. I don’t like wearing foundation on the weekend but still want an even complexion so this makes it super simple to create my own tinted moisturizer. I only need 1 drop to give me that even, clean, fresh look. I will buy this again for sure
