I’ve been a fan of the Invisible Illumination Instant Glow beauty serum which I use either alone (for the lightest possible coverage with a nice glow) or mixed with another foundation. But, because I need to mix two shades in that product I thought I’d try this CC cream instead. I like it.
I’m around NC20 in Mac and my skin is smooth, combination – both easily dehydrated and tending towards shine. I’m 48 so I have some fine lines but nothing major. I got shade “fair”, which is the middle one. The shade range of Lumen is not inclusive (darkest shade is only about medium from a global pow).
I don’t know why Lumene calls this product a CC cream or what the difference is supposed to be, but this is a nice, light-medium coverage foundation that doesn’t cost the earth. I made the mistake the first time, thinking it would be more like a tinted moisturiser, of applying too much and of course it looked a bit cakey. Actually I need to apply very little to get a beautiful result. It’s easy to get too much out of the tube, and you cannot put it back in, so be careful. A little does go a long way with this product. I find it looks very natural, almost like I’ve nothing on, but I look polished. It doesn’t hide all “imperfections” and neither is it meant to. I add a little bit of concealer under my eyes and around the nose, a little loose powder on top, and I’m good to go. I imagine some people might not want to powder at all, but I prefer it. I don’t touch up my foundation at all during the day, just blot and add a little powder at some point. I look fine. I guess it perhaps fades a bit but if so, it looks fine and doesn’t sink into my pores or fine lines.
Good product. I will buy this again.
P.S. About the SPF. The SPF20 is useless, firstly because it’s really too low and secondly because there’s no way anyone would apply this product in sufficient quantity to get the stated SPF, it would look horrible. So forget about the SPF and just use a separate product. I should clarify that I don’t use foundation and sunscreen together. I only use this foundation in the heart of winter when I don’t use SPF, or in the evenings. During spring until autumn, I use a tinted SPF50 instead of foundation. So I don’t know how this product plays with sunscreen underneath.
