VisionAiry gel lipsticks are new, just launched. I am not sure if they, together with the ModernMatte, will replace the current Perfect and Rouge rouge formulas. I have one Rouge rouge and love the formula, so I had to try these, so I bought the VisionAiry lipstick in 223 Shizuka Red. It is described as cranberry on the Shiseido website and medium-dark copper on Temptalia. On me it looks like a warm red with some copper but it doesn’t look brown. It’s quite an intense colour but the shade looks flattering on me (nc20-ish, yellow-based skin tone with some surface redness in the face, green eyes, brown hair). I was worried it might make my teeth look yellow but it doesn’t at all. I really like it. As someone who doesn’t feel very comfortable in bright, straight-up red lipstick, this is impactful yet I feel like am wearing it rather than it wearing me. I probably won’t use it much every day, but definitely if I want to go for a strong lip.
A note about the formula: it is really strange, different from any other lipstick I’ve tried. It feels “wet” going on, but it then sets into a matte but not flat finish. It goes on totally opaque and strong in one wipe, in fact I blot some off on a tissue to town down the finish a bit. It’s still opaque after the blotting. It also feels comfortable on my lips, which do tend to dry out easily. I haven’t yet really tested it for longevity, having worn it only at home, but based on this i’m impressed and would totally buy another shade or two.
