A beautiful neutral-toned red that I’m loving right about now. I use this first to line my outer lip and then fill in – which it does effortlessly, as it’s very pigmented. Gives a velvet matte finish and is buildable – if you want to increase the intensity you absolutely can, yet despite being matte it’s not drying, if anything I find it nicely emollient (thanks to Vit E in the formulation). The only downside to it being a lip pencil is it won’t last as long as a liquid lippie, but as long as I remember to blot lightly after applying and allow to fully dry for a few minutes, I’m able to get a good 6 hours + from this, depending upon eating/drinking habits. Food, especially something oily will result in transfer no matter what, which is why I always keep it in my bag with me for touch ups wherever I go.
Controlled and precise definition that I find hard to achieve with conventional lipsticks (normally end up using a Q Tip to remove excess) means I really don’t mind shelling out $27 for this and will definitely be repurchasing.

I got this as a sample, and have replaced it many times. It is my go-to red. As an albino, I’ve had trouble with reds being too blue or too orange-y (warm). This one is perfect, and lasts. Just make sure your lips are exfoliated and hydrated.

This is an OK deep red with earthy undertones that I was very excited to try because it looks gorgeous on evert photo I’ve seen. That said I’m simply too spoilt by Lisa Eldridge lipsticks to appreciate Cruella which is mainly Velvet Jazz with some Velvet Ribbon thrown in and inferior formulation. I like it but it’s not love.

My favorite matte red. It looks perfect with my skintone and it’s so nice when it’s applied. I always get compliments whenever I use it to go out.

Ahh Nars Velvet Matte I love you all. Cruella is a beautiful color of rich red. I’m NC 42 and it looks crazy good! Feels great and lasts for hours.

It’s my go to date night or black dress accompaniment. The shade instantly elevates your look. I tend to use it without a lip liner and just apply lip balm 20 minutes before applying the lipstick as I generally have dry lips. I recommend blotting the first application layer and re applying for budge free diva lips. It’s my absolute favourite red lipstick, especially because of the size and formula. It does not become cakey or dry at any point though I suggest re applying if necessary as nome drinks ruin the perfect pout. I have almost finished the first pencil and am tempted to purchase more shades in the same formula as it’s the only “matte” lipstick that I find 100% comfortable.

This pencil is a beautiful scarlet that I have yet to find match for that is as stunning. The consistency is amazing and the staying power is so great. I was surprised to find that even though this is a matte, it isn’t overly drying. My favourite way to wear this is by first applying a matte lip balm (Nuxe’s Reve de miel) so that I can wear it for even longer with no dryness whatsoever. I also love that this is so build-able; I can put on the tiniest amount for a berry lip or keep layering to get a stark, red lip.

I have a red lipstick problem. I think that once I finally find that perfect red lipstick, my life will be complete. Mindfulness, schmindfulness. The right red lipstick will lead me to enlightenment. Accordingly, I have THREE of these lip pencils in various shade of red. Cruella was my last one because that is what they used on Emma Stone in La La Land, so why not me? I’ll tell you why not. They dry the hell out of my lips. I put Paw Paw oinment on first, an emollient lip liner, nothing helps. these pencils dry my lips like the dessert. Sadly, they have not led me down the road to enlightenment.

I love the matte finish of this. I have other reds that are sheers or glossy but this is my go to for matte red lips and I feel it would be flattering on anyone. It stays put and I find that I rarely have to reapply. My boyfriend used to not like red lips until I started wearing this and he changed his mind lol. It doesn’t feel dry either, at least not to me. If my lips are feeling dry before I put this one, I will put on a tiny bit of lip balm and then put this on but for the most part, I can use this without any balm underneath. I might purchase this again but I like trying new things so I may find another one that I want to try. But I’m loving this while I have it.

I got this as a free sample with purchase from Sephora, and because it said matte on the label, I never bothered with it. I`m just not a huge fan of matte lipsticks and my expectations were that it would dry out my lips and sit in my lines, which has been my experience with most matte formulas. Today I needed a dark red and my Logona Ruby and Marc Jacobs were out, so in a fit of desperation I reached out for this. I was really pleasantly surprised with how comfortable it felt on my lips despite being so long lasting. It wore well for most of the day, with a slight touch up needed after lunch. The color is gorgeous and such a great contrast with my pale skin. My only gripe is that it doesn`t fade as evenly as I would like it to, and the inner parts of my mouth seem a little lighter than the edges. Otherwise, I loved it and wouldn`t mind purchasing it.
