Edit 24 hours later: the stickiness became too annoying and I decided to return the entire three pack. This is cheap but still not worth the money, go pick up a Nyx Soft Lip Cream in Copenhagen instead. Ratings adjusted accordingly. So I became obsessed with dark lipsticks this fall (a little late on the bandwagon I know) and I came across this lipstick on a Pinterest board. I was intrigued because I am a sucker for drugstore dupes to high-end stuff and this was mentioned a few times as a dupe to Mac’s Sin. I purchased a three pack of it from Amazon for $7.48 and free shipping (the seller is Beauty Joint if anyone’s interested) and I am wearing it today for the first time. I love the color – it is a DARK blacked out burgundy. Looking at swatches of Sin online the NYC seems to be a bit darker than that. I would call it a satin finish more than a matte finish. I like it a lot and obviously the price is right – really the only issue I have with it is the consistency, it’s STICKY on the lips. But you know, for the price it could be a whole lot worse. I’m wearing it with Kleancolor lip liner in Black Cherry, which I purchased on shopmissa.com for ONE DOLLAR, effing love that site, and they aren’t a perfect match (the KC liner has a little more purple to it) but work very well together. I’m gonna keep a lookout for a cheap tube of Sin on Poshmark and Mercari but in the meantime this will do very nicely.

I bought this because I wanted a similar dupe to Mac’s Viva Glam Ariana Grande and wanted to try the dark wine/plum lipstick trend for cheap. This costs $3.29 CAD at Shoppers Drug Mart.
I wasnt sure if this would look good with my medium skin tone (nc 30), as i thought that these shades were more suitable for fair skintones.
I loved this. The actual shade is lighter when it is applied compared to how dark it looks as a stick. On my lips this appears as a dark wine color, which is dramatic and bold. Yet it is not too dark that it looks like costume makeup. Of course I pare down the rest of my makeup (ie blush and eyeshadow) so that the lips do not compete with the rest of my face. I get a lot of notice when I wear this shade but not in a bad way.
This formula is matte and can be a tad dry. Be sure to exfoliate your lips. Sometimes I dap a little bit of moisturizer on top of the lipstick instead of buying a matching gloss.

A deep red that often appears a bit streaky. I would rather layer a few other lipsticks that I own that are better quality to create the same color, or work with matching shades, but I use Lip Octyl even when using lip gloss.
Using oil to make hot shimmer seems to be quite popular. For a comfortable finish, just add a bit of water after a few minutes to make it hot. After a minute or so, I use a warm blend for the base, and then fill in with warm water for the final shimmer. I’d suggest replacing eyeshadow primer to have the base’s shimmer put on, otherwise this lipstick won’t last long on me.

This purple is insanely beautiful. The best thing about wearing this lipstick is I don’t have to put it on first. Its so fun and simple to add more colors to it to add to it the yellowness of the morning. It looks like a natural primer with the scent and mood of a rich, summery day. It’s smooth, lovely to wear on, and always looks like something cute. Take a free and try it out.
The Mood ~ Lemonmint Signora Powder $8.50
This pink swirled looks very lovely with a dose of likeodoro that is so easy to apply. It has a milky pigment with a very lightly shimmery finish. Apply with a tiny bit of shade and its a lovely warm brown to complement your black lashes.
In my New Year’s counter I set up my normal Liquid Equinox in this rose colored lipstick.
Just like last year, I would always use Lilacs and Lip Gloss for pretty pink makeup to give this lipstick the glow and rich character it craves.
Next time I would try a different basic formula of evenness-y colors such as R! Emma and Embrace Me. However, they seem to only give the very best results when combined with something more beautiful than what this lipstick will provide in the future! I would just use whipped cream instead of acrylics or even lanolins when applying this lipstick. It’s lovely!
Last time I applied my new formula here I didn’t lose the contrast. This time I am returning it for new polishes. Also, since I have also been wearing this lipstick on, I have started using colored tips on this lip gloss to show off its beautiful golden-smelling look. This is just my favorite color!

Applied full force, Mahogany is a rich dark, blackberry wine shade. Very dark maroon with some brown tones. Applied lightly, it can be a “just bitten” berry look, and kind of reminds me of Clinique’s Black Honey.
The Ultra Moist lipsticks are 99cents, very slick and glossy, lightweight texture, slight berry fragrance and don’t last very long on the lips. I have to be in the mood for this color and I don’t reach for it often, I prefer Wet n Wild’s Dark Wine lipstick for a similar look that suits me better. But at this price, why not try out a vampy shade and see if you like it.

I bought this lipstick a couple years ago, wanting to try something new. It appears like a very dark red brown, but it looks like a dark vampy red color on my lips. This lipstick is perfect if you want to try a vampy color without spending a lot of money. The only issue I have is the packaging. It can get messy easily if the lipstick ever gets broken or the cap is put on kind of funny.

I can’t knock this because it didn’t work for me. It’s an excellent color and formula – it’s just too dark. It would be beautiful on some skin tones, but not on mine. It looks almost black on me.

This lipstick is everything. I wear it almost every day, and it’s beautiful on my fair skin. It doesn’t last hours and hours, but I don’t mind reapplying it every once in a while because it’s moisturizing and smells amazing. And for $1, it CANNOT be beat.

I am in love with this color. I don’t really look good wearing bright colors but I loce wearing lipstick so I was super happy when I tried this out. I can use it to tone down my bright reds or wear it alone. Either way it’s a perfect color and is quickly becoming my new favorite.

I’ve been looking for a lipstick in this color for ever, and I found it, for $2! Such a good deal.
The pigment is amazing, but needs to be applied a couple times to be true to color.
It’s super moisturizing, so it’s not a good lipstick to wear if you plan on eating, drinking, or kissing as it rubs off very easily.
and the smell, omg. it smells so good for a lipstick! Kind of like berries.
I usually only wear this lip stick as a tint, since it is slightly sheer with one coat, and two-three coats feels kind of cakey. But all in all, definitely a great lipstick for it’s price, I love NYC lip colors, but this one is by far the best. I just wish they made it in matte. *heart eyes*
