I was just killing time in the department store waiting for my friend and I saw these at the Shu Uemura counter. I was like “Another tinted lip balm, whateva.” The SA was really pushing for me to try them, and because I still had another 10 minutes, I just let her do her thing. Most Japanese lip products are pretty sheer and understated, more like lip glosses, which is cool, but I sure as hell wasn`t going to spend 3,500 yen on a lip gloss. Boy, was I wrong! I couldn`t believe the color payoff from these: I mean, that “tinted balm” label wasn`t leading up to what I saw in the mirror, which was a deep opaque bright cherry red that felt like a cream lippie and looked like a matte finish. I was like “Whoa! Hold up!” and tried a whole bunch of other colors. I finally bought Cherry Fervor (which is like the happiest, brightest hue of coral red/pink) and Orange Force. They are not as moisturizing as say a Mac Cream Sheen formula, but still not bad. I do recommend wearing them with some balm, but the colors are gorgeous.
So I picked up a couple of these pads in South Korea. One were made for my smattering of women, who truly loved their face masks and were willing to buy them and actually get a handle on it because, well, they are products that are expensive, creamy and make me want to look like Im already an object of lust. If you know how to make facial masks, they have super adorable shades. Right?
So, here is the makings of mine I brought back from South Korea.

Powdered: completely don’t use wax paper or paintbrush and trust me, this is not something that will work perfectly in your face. These are sturdy and ready to go and so I am going to provide some advice here.
Good quality: Not really a mess and I did get them intact. I think it’s just that my skin is going through some damage over time and I have no other method of doing this (duh) so it doesn`t really give me a clue why. Make sure you are using good quality hair or something I won’t fit into your hair ball of hair. Don`t use cheap nail polish that will usually fill in too much. And wash your face with soapy water or water based stuff. You wont feel it, just maybe your iris color will. It`s fine and my very lucky that I find products that are incredibly comfortable to use. I have found last year that it takes 15 minutes for your eye to get used to seeing your face, even when you don`t need to use all your eyelids at once. Even though your hair can look redder than if you were wearing lipstick (even with big eyelashes), it still has a light color and it still just says “Done” in a cute hairdryer. Your skin may return to normal within a few days and change colors after that. It looks hard even when you face stuff in your head and it’s way harder to undo with sunscreen. Even if you didnt lose any hair, your face mask and elastic would still still need to be used in ways that make your forehead that much more sensitive. Be sure not to fold your face mask’s sleeves, spray it, then use them for unpeeling.
Marzipan has been around since my little eight year old days, it does the job very well. It doesn`t

The packaging is really glam – sturdy and shiny with beautiful embossing. The actual product itself is really nice too. It gives a really pretty dose of color and shine and may even be a little moisturizing. The shine isn’t too over the top, it just looks natural and classy. But for the negative: the staying powder is so-so. I find within less than an hour’s time it’s disappeared from my lips, maybe leaving behind a touch of color. Not in an uneven, unflattering way – but still, I expect the product as applied should last longer than this. So I find myself using the tube up rather quickly.

I tried this because I was tired of having chapped lips, and I also wanted to travel lighter. I got #2 shade, which goes well with my light Asian tan with cool undertone. The lipstick is very easy to apply and is slightly sheer, so I was advised to layer it to my liking, which is a big plus since I can use it like a normal lip balm on some days. One minor point is that I sometimes can feel the gloss coating my lips which is slightly disgusting, but that is easily remedied by less layering. It is also slightly glossy and sparkly, apparently, but the sparkle is quite, quite subtle. The packaging is pretty and feminine (more plus points for it!), and the lipstick smells light and slightly fruity without assaulting the senses, so I think it makes a very pretty gift. Most importantly, it works! — it really does make my lips smoother.

So I adore so much about this product, the sheer wash of colour (I purchased dream me nude), the gorgeous shine, the heavy luxurious packaging and how soft and moisturized this left my lips. My big issue and the reason I returned this was the scent. It’s awful, smells like rank sour fruit. I could not stand the scent of it and just could not use it. Too bad, if it was unscented i would have purchased a few more.

I love this lipstick. It has been my everyday no-fuss makeup for the past half year and I have about a third or a fourth of the tube left. the formulation is great and moisturizing, it smells amazing, the packaging is luxurious and makes me feel special. I usually apply a lip balm morning and night regardless of whether I’m wearing this and I think that works best for me but I’ve also tried it with no lip balm and it works well if your lips aren’t super dry (if they are, I don’t love how the color turns out). I own “touch me red” and I absolutely love it. It is understated while making me look put together. Not sure about repurchasing because it is expensive.

I CANNOT rave enough about this product!!!! For as much as I adore the YSL lip oils, these have them beat by a mile (ok, not really – but by a star for sure). I now own 5 of these glorious lil’ things: Desire me Pink, Dare me Plum, Touch me Red, Seduce me Pink, and Flirt me Coral.
Let me preface this by getting the obvious out of the way… Yes these are ridiculously priced at $34 each. Should a lip balm cost as much as a YSL lip stick (give or take a few coins)? NO. That’s the same gripe I have with the YSL lip oils. But I feel like the moisturization factor of these, in combo with the wonderful tint shades, make these worth the splurge for dry lipped humanoids like me. I utilize these when I don’t feel like dealing with traditional lipstick (or when my lips need a break from liquid lipstick’s drying wrath). Here I get a nice light wash of color and plenty of renewing moisture throughout the day. IMO these are less fragranced than its big sister (YSL tinted lip oil). And can we take a moment to discuss the embossed lips in balm along with packaging? GORG.
IMO, these are 5 star worthy, hands down. They knocked my Fresh balms out of the running and I have since never looked back (and those were my HG). I consider these the more sophisticated version of my beloved Clinique Black Cherry Almost Lipstick (caveat: nothing beats this in my book for unique shade though)… I highly recommend these products – no need to go all OCD of ownership like I tend to do, but do grab one as a lovely treat for yourself and your lips.

So I have the coral shade nr. 7 and I love the way it looks. Very subtle and healthy looking. Not sure if its really worth the price but its just a nice item to have in a “treat yourself” kind of way.

I have this in Dream me Nude. It has a nice lip balm feeling but with a nude mauve shade. I really like how it looks on my lips. Perfect for every day. Very moisturizing and the packaging is beautiful. I took one lippie off for the smell. These smell very floral with some cherry added on top. A bit too much for me.

I LOVE THESE THINGS!!! I currently have 6 out of the 12 colours. They work as a coloured lip balm, whilst the more intense coloured ones will stain your lips slightly. I have no 2, 3, 5, 6, 10, 12. The lighter colours don’t show up on your lips as much, but gives you a more healthier look. The more vivid colours can be applied lightly for every day look, or a few layers for a more intense colour. They are slightly moisturizing only, as I’ve noticed that my lips can still get dry after wearing these for 8 hours, though I have yet to find one that keeps my lips moisturized the whole day! The packaging is stunning as usual, though can attract fingerprints. I like that you can distinguish between the lipstick based on the outer packaging. When first applied, it quite shiny. Doesn’t feel thick and creamy, but quite thin and slippery, something that I dont mind. After half an hour or so, the shine disappears, and you’re left with the colour. I think the moisture mainly comes from the shiny time, which is probably why its not as moisturizing as it could be. The feeling of something on my lips also disappears quite quickly; think after an hour I’m already rubbing my lips together to feel if any product is still left. I find that I have to reapply every 3-4 hours. Some many consider this a downside, however this is advertised as a balm rather than a long lasting lipstick, so I did expect that. As with all YSL lipsticks, it has this quite strong fruity smell, but fades after a while after applying to the lips. The reason why I only bought half of the colour is that I was not keen on nude and light colours, and many of the pinks I already have a similar one at home, if not I would have bought more. These caused some frenzy in the UK when they were first released! I find that I am going through them quite quickly due to increased applications throughout the day. Again possibly a downside for some, but I like to see that I’m actually going through a product.
