This is fast becoming a favourite red lipstick choice for me. I have the shade ‘Take the stage’ a gorgeous classic blue toned red, with a slight pink undertone. The colour is beautiful, but not unique. It’s the formula that i’m absolutely gaga for.
The bullet is really special. It’s flat and slanted. So applying might be a pain, especially if you use your lipstick to line your lips, but I find it ok. The slanted bullet reminds me of their automatic lip liners, a firm favourite of mine.
The smell of this lipstick is delicious, I hope you’re a fan of watermelons and on application I get a slight minty tingly sensation, which pleases me greatly.
Once applied, it sets to a silky powdery velvet finish, absolutely delightful and it’s matte finish ensures it stays like that for most of the day. An important detail is that it’s a very very comfortable matte. Not drying or glossy or balmy. But just right..Goldilocks
I wear it for about 14 hours and it still looks really good at the end of the day. Maybe requires a slight touch up around the edges after dinner. But still good enough to leave on without re applying.
This is a different sort of lipstick from Rimmel, it feels more high end. The formula is really superior to past drugstore lipsticks I’ve tried.
Their marketing ploy says something like ‘This is the only lipstick you’ll need…” Something along those lines and I think they might be right. Over the moon with it. Backup already purchased.

I was in a mood for a lipstick — a constant craving for me, to be honest — and I spotted some of these marked down to $1.80 at a discount store. Looking through a few I spotted Look Who’s Talking, which in the tube looks like it may be a red-brown color. I have a weakness for those, so I threw my two dollars to the wind.
I’m not disappointed, but I’m not blown away.
The pros: One, I got it for $2, so it’s a bargain. Two: The color is lovely. It’s kind of red-brown but looks more like a warm plummy mauve it I apply it lightly to my lips. If I apply it more heavily it’s a vampier red-brown. It provides a beautiful, lived-in matte lip look, especially applied with a lighter hand. It has decent staying power and isn’t drying.
The cons: It may not be drying, but it’s not moisturizing either. It’s comfortable-ish, but kind of rides that fine line between soothing and potentially parching. I can live it, but wearing it a bit longer it does feel somewhat more noticeable and the OCD person in me wants to scrub it off just because I know it’s there and I’m wondering if it’s wearing unevenly or crumbling. So it’s not going to be a long-wear champ to me. One other con: It’s scented. It’s not as strong as some other lippies, like a lot of Maybelline’s formulas, for example, but it’s there. It doesn’t hang obnoxiously heavy under the nose, but I’d still prefer something sans fragrance.
For two bucks it’s a nice little impulse treat, but I’d never pay $7 or whatever it’s suggested retail price may be. I can get other matte formulas that are more comfy for that price.

These are good lipsticks with pretty shades but too drying for my chapped lips. However, I like Rimmel’s non-mattes in this line.

I bought two ,200 salute and 700 trendsetter as the Color appealed to me . I don’t really care whether it was matte or satin but this does dry down to a comfortable velvet finish . I seldom buy lipstick because I don’t really wear them . But I had good experiences with another rimmel range of lipstick ( discontinued ) and thought this looked similiar. My main gripe is that is feathers , upon application . I don’t have dry lips etc but it just does not seem to apply evenly , leaving obvious weird areas / lines which are not painted. Even second or third coats don’t really help because it creates other holes. The next issue I have is that it makes my lips look very fragile and thin , accentuating lines that I never knew existed . I now use this under a gloss ,so that I can enjoy the Color (which is a tad too nude for me ) and yet have lips that look more plump.

LOVE these lipsticks! I have three colours from this range. They go on easily, last ages, transfer little, and don’t tend to settle into my lip lines. They’re not hugely drying either, which might be surprising since they are truly matte. You do need to have decently moisturised lips first, though, unsurprisingly. They have that Rimmel melon smell, but it goes away once the lipsticks settle after about 15 minutes.
500 Take the Stage is a perfect red – it doesn’t bleed outside the lines and while it transfers some, there’s still plenty of pigment left on the lips. It really does wear well. Pity I don’t wear red lipstick all that often.
700, Trendsetter, is one of my favourite lipsticks of all time. It’s an amazing brown-y, beige-y colour that looks great on my skin.
610 High Flyer is just about as pink as I will ever go with a lipstick. It’s a rich, rosy pink, very beautiful without being overpowering. Quite a classy colour.
Love these lipsticks.

This is an overall disappointment for me.
I got a mauve-y rose colored shade in the store which seemed more than fine on my hand. Then on my lips at home the color had so little pay off it seems like a different lipstick altogether. Definitely not pigmented enough for a matte lipstick. Additionally, it is not drying but what that means is that it doesn’t last too long at all. Transfers and don’t expect it to stay on your lips for hours without you having to re-apply. Won’t hold against food or drink.
Its redeeming quality for me is the gorgeous packaging. Sadly that is not enough for me to repurchase. There are lipsticks around that price point which are much more of a hit for me and this was definitely a miss.

Reviewing shade #810 “The Matte Factor”. Purchased after a hunt for a pinky-toned red; this fit the bill.
Color reminds me so much of the Revlon classic “Cherries in the Snow” but an updated, modern version due to the matte (vs super lustrous) finish. Packaged in an easy to find, red plastic tube the cap snaps shut well. The bullet of lipstick is not flat nor tapered but instead on a flat/slant. Makes application surprisingly crisp. It has a true matte finish with no sheen at all, yet is extremely light on the lips. Not a trace of dryness or puckering, nor accentuating of lip lines at all. It’s intensely pigmented, which doesn’t usually work for me (I’ve returned several high end, too pigmented lipsticks), the combination of the soft matte with great color payoff is a winner.
Stays put through meals with a slight fade but still passable. However reapplication is easy and without flaking if need be.
Color is a great winter cool red that brightens my fair-ish complexion.

This lipstick is neither terrible awful nor amazing. I own the shade 700 ‘Trendsetter’ and while the colour is opaque and the wear time is decent (I’d touch up routinely after eating regardless of whether or not I needed to; I tend to just run it across my lips without looking) the smell is awful. My friends and partner enjoy the scent but I find it awfully strong and artificial. I prefer the Avon matte lipsticks and would recommend them over this product.

I absolutely disagree with the review below. She must be sent from a rival company lol. Jokes, to each their own.
It’s one of the BEST matte lipsticks I’ve ever tried. Trust me I’ve tried quite a few from high end brands to drugstore. Most that claim they are matte still end up being a little too creamy.
The Rimmel Only 1 Matte Lipstick has a lightweight formula and gorgeous, gorgeous colours. For a matte lipstick it performs incredibly well. It is not too dry yet it feels powdery on the lips. It does not feather and has lasted 6 minimum hours without touch up, with no signs of fading. It is extremely smooth to apply and even more comfortable to wear. I’ve eaten oily foods and drank water with it and it still stayed pretty well compared to matte liquid lipsticks where the latter just flake off instead of fade into a gradient. I’ve also noticed that it does not bleed into the teeth which is awesome.
Matte lipsticks are a hit or miss usually. They can either be too drying or still too creamy which defeats the purpose of being matte. Rimmel has found the middle ground and created the perfect matte lipstick. For the price, it can’t be beat. I cannot say enough nice things about it. I’m very, very impressed and will recommend this to all my friends.

This is a really terrible product. I have the shade 750 Look Who’s Talking.
SMELL: These have a really strong and terrible sweet chemical smell that is almost nauseating.
CONSISTENCY/APPLICATION: The product goes on unevenly and instantly clings to any dry patches or texture and sits in lip lines, even if your lips have been exfoliated and moisturized. It looks and feels dry on the lips.
WEAR: This lipstick has about an average wear time and doesn’t set slightly like the original The Only 1 formula does. It is very drying and feathers out into lip lines around the mouth as well. It also clings to flaky bits of skin on the lip line making things looks even drier.

Bought today this lipstick in the shade “trendsetter”and love it. It is a Kylie Jenner type of shade for a great price. Paid 7.99 Canadian. No complaints on it being too drying for a matte, it’s surprisingly comfortable and doesn’t settle into lines. I think the shade would look great on any skin tone as well. If your reading this go pick up this shade , I guarantee u will love it. I almost bought a nyx lip lingerie and I’m so glad I didn’t now. LOVEEE

A very nice creamy, but matte lipstick. Doesn’t feel dry on the lips, but can accentuate dry patches, so if you have dry lips I’d recommend that you gently scrub them and apply a little chapstick prior to applying the lipstick. Staying power is pretty good, but touch-ups are needed after eating. I own it in the shade 200 Salute, which is a very nice dusty rosey color. I wear it when i need a subtle flush of color, as this shade is pretty similar to my own lip color. All in all a nice matte lipstick.

This is a lovely formula! It’s a pillowy, matte cream and it is so so good! I just can’t do the crusty, flat, uncomfortable liquid mattes anymore…the color I picked was Keep It Coral and it is a nice peachy pink on my cool toned skin. It’s more orangey on my neutral toned daughter. I am interested in buying more (on sale anyway)…????
