So… I found this little gem yesterday night at a F&F sale at Big Lots. BIG LOTS of all places! I picked this up and looked at the shade, not remembering ever seeing this color at my local drugstores in the recent past, so I was curious. And… since I was getting 20% off a lipstick that was already priced at 2 dollars, I figured there was no harm in trying.
The color is hard to pinpoint; I don’t know where they got off putting “chocolate” in the shade name, because I’m not detecting any brown tones whatsoever. What I DO detect is a very bright pinkish-reddish with a mild corally undertone. It’s an awesome shade for summer, and I can see both cool-toned and warm-toned people pulling it off. I applied, stepped back from the mirror, and said, “Whoa!” Always a sign that a product is a keeper.
I really enjoy the texture of SL lipsticks, especially the cremes, and this one is no different. It feels like a balm on my lips — so smooth. I pair it with a clear lipliner, apply straight from the tube, blot, and apply again. Lasting power is pretty decent this way.
Revlon has pretty nice packaging for its lipsticks… they have a good weight to them and they are sturdy and functional. I also like the little window on top of the tube so you can see what the shade looks like. In fact, if it hadn’t had that feature, I probably would have passed it over in the store, because the shade sounded brownish to me, and I cannot wear browns with my pale skintone. Glad I didn’t pass!
Price = dirt cheap. $1.60, I think? I’ll take it.
Ladies, haul yourselves to your local Big Lots and check this one out! It’s sooo pretty.
