This is my fave red I own. It’s truly neutral not cool not tomato or brick. There is a sharpener on the end which I appreciate! Elf thinks of everything….the texture is creamy for a matte, it does not feel like glue on the lips. Really pretty & universally flattering. If is $3 & elf is a cruelty-free brand. I don’t wear reds often but I love this one. It’s not too garish so I can wear it during the day even. I love all of the SMLC I’ve tried so far. I want to get all of the colors eventually.

A beautiful, bold red.
I bought this at Targget for $4 Canadian. It was the last one left, and I can see why.
This is a universally flattering neutral red. The texture of the lipstick is matte after it sets. It transfers, but the colour remains just as bold.
I find that after about three hours, it’ll begin to settle into fine line sif you don’t wear lipliner. With such a bold lipcolour, I would wear a lipliner just to get the lines perfect anyway. With lipliner, it doesn’t settle into lines at all.
It makes a good classic red, but with a bit of black eyeliner blended into the corners of the lipcs, it makes a gorgeous vampy lip.
The packaging is a sleek, matte black tube with a click cap. The product twists up, and comes with a sharpener on the end.
I think this’ll be my go-to red.

This shade in the Studio Matte Lip colour line is a cool leaning crimson red. An absolutely gorgeous shade, buildable and in my opinion not uttery matte but with the tiniest (and I MEAN tiniest) hint of satin. You can wear it as a stain or at proper full on bold, movie star strength, alone for the matte finish or with a touch of gloss for shine, so I find it very versatile. The thin pencil style tip of the product makes application easy and the product feels light and very pleasent to wear.
Applied to well exfoliated lips with barely a hint of balm I get 4-5 hours before it has faded enough to reapply. Drinking is fine but eating food, especialy greasy food will result in uneven fading and a need to reapply. If you put it on full strength, you definately need to blot well to get decent, even wear out of it; it will fade very unevenly if you dont. In my experience this lipstick is drying if you wear it more than a couple of days in a row, but not too bad… I have worn reds that make your lips shrivel within hours, so I’d say this stuff is remarkably kind to the lips considering it is a matte red.
The packaging is a matte black twist up tube with a click on lid – it seems fairly robust although I’m wary that the product does not look well centred in there.
I’ve been in mourning since my HG red lippy (Revlon Colorburst lipstick in Crimson) got discontinued, but this seems to be a decent alternative. I love it! Will be buying backups.
