Adore the color… Until I put it on :/ VERY patchy, does not go on evenly, you rub your lips together and it fades in certain areas… Just, uhhhhh so sad. Not what I was expecting for a $21 lipstick. But this collection is to die for!!

I really wanted to love this lipstick. I love vampy hues, but this just doesn’t perform. The color is beautiful, kind of a black cherry.
There’s a bit of tug, and it feels kind of dry applying it (and wearing it). It does not feel moisturizing at all, but it’s not a moisturizing formula either.
The wear and application are where this really disappoints. I have a couple other KVD lipsticks, and her Studded Kiss Bauhau5 performs like a champ for me, but this, it’s like it’s not related to Bauhau5 at all. It’s hard to apply evenly (and I can apply dark colors with minimal effort and can apply good formulas without liner and get them to look good and even). When I try to clean up edges it makes a mess or rubs off unevenly. Wearing it a short amount of time it fades in patches, wedging into lip lines or just looking a mess. The only way I find I can wear this is to apply just a touch with balm to give naked lips a touch of color.
Like all the Studded Kiss line, it has a slight vanilla scent. It’s more noticeable at first but it fades. The packaging with the studded case is cool, but the lid doesn’t click on that tightly. For the cost I’d say it should be better packaging (and formula), or they should knock the price down. Ideally it’d be nice if they pulled this one from the shelves entirely and left it off until they could reformulate it into something that performs better. I have $2 Wet n Wild lipsticks that work better than this one.

I have a few of these Studded Kiss lipsticks, but this is my least favorite. The color is beautiful — it’s a vampy blackish red. On Sephora it’s described as a matte black cherry. That might be about right. The color is a very deep, rich blackened red. It’s very intense and velvety looking. When it applies right, it’s a beauty, but I find it hard to apply it right. It’s quite dry, even for a matte formula, and it lacks that glide that makes it apply evenly. Usually a really creamy and greasy lipstick can be a mess but this is just as bad as a sloppy lipstick. Other Kat Von D lipsticks that I have — Bauhau5, Wolvesmouth and Lovecraft — all have a wee bit of tug but they do glide on smoothly and evenly. Their texture is more forgiving, where this is too easy to mess up. Most of the time I need either lip liner or I need to clean the edges with a Q-tip so my mouth doesn’t look a mess. It also tends to settle in cracks around the mouth, so it looks like I have little blackened grooves in my lips, which can’t really be seen from a couple feet away, but applying it and seeing it up close, it’s a bit annoying.
On top of that there’s the usual packaging issue with these, where the cap pops off easily. It also has that vanilla scent which fortunately fades quickly.
This is a really pretty color, but I’ve had better performance from lipsticks I’ve scored at the dollar store. It’s simply not worth $21 until they can make a formula that applies and performs more evenly and reliably.

I was a bit disappointed with the color of this. I was expecting it to be more red and less purple, but I guess that’s what I get for shopping online. It does say “black cherry” and that’s what it is but no picture online shows its true color. The quality however is nice. It can tug a bit the first time you use it, but other than that it’s great for me. I hate to say it, but this might be my least favorite of the 6 studded kiss colors I have. Don’t get me wrong it’s still on the top of my list when it comes to all lipstick. I would suggest using with a liner for best results. Overall still a great lipstick, just make sure that’s the color you are looking for before you buy.

I really love the color, but it went on a little chalky and hard to apply…which is pretty standard for a highly pigmented matte lipstick. I prepped with some chapstick before, but after about an hour and a half of wear, it migrated and wore patchy. I think with a matching lipliner, it might stop it from migrating as much, but over all I enjoyed the color. I do however feel the formula needs a little tweaking considering the price tag $21.00
