Beautiful and classy shade of deep blue but yeah, pretty much feels like I am using one of those old costume glitter lipsticks when trying to put it on gracefully. It will literally make you do things with your lips you thought not possible, and hopefully no one watches you put this on, because it is dry af.
I’m willing to pay extra for luxury and this didn’t feel luxurious, beautiful packaging, beautiful colour, just the worst consistency for a lipstick I have ever encountered.
So would I buy this again? Heck no, but I will continue to try to wear it, maybe incorporating some kind of matte jelly underneath it for easier slip. My overall rating is based on the fact that I love the colour and the packaging, so pretty and so easy to find in my purse, but doesn’t fit in my lipstick organizer.
Moral of the story is, you shouldn’t feel like you are exfoliating your lips with a lipstick, ever. Thats what scrubs are for. Boo.
UPDATE: This lipsticks needs a lip liner or concealer around the mouth it tends to bleed and smudge if touched.

Interesting shade!! It’s a deep blue that looks black from far away! It makes teeth white! Love the shimmer in it too. I took off two lippies because it’s dry as hell and could get patchy, also the lid never seems to stay on.

The color sucks and it’s metallic what the hell was she thinking with this one. It’s so dry I almost broke the stick trying to put it on:( MISS

Rather dry, and moderately difficult to apply. Not long lasting. Incredibly pretty color though. It’s not terribly hard to navigate around its dryness though. Fairly pricy for how much product there is though.

Cool colors, but these are the single most drying lipsticks I have ever tried. One swipe and my lips are flake city!

Just got mine today and wow! Poe, is just what I would want in a dark bold color. Navy blue lipstick obviously isn’t something you would consider for an “everyday look” but this is a lot more classy than I was expecting. I didn’t know is had a bit of shimmer in it, but that’s a good thing! I feel like I could use this crazy color for more occasions than I previously thought. I love it when you can make unusual makeup colors work like this without it looking like a cheap Halloween look. This stuff went on strong and seems to stay on better than all the other studded kiss colors I have. Like always it smells and tastes sweet like cupcakes or icecream. I honestly think anyone could rock this given the right situation. Very impressed!

Poe could really use a lip liner. If anyone has any suggestions of what to use, please PM me because as far as I know there are no navy lip liners that are easy to find. That said, it is a unique shade. It leans purple enough not to be too out there.
I don’t find it terribly drying, but I don’t find it hydrating and I did feel that it tugged a bit at the lips. When I am wearing it, I feel that it is there. It doesn’t slip into the back of my mind. I know I am wearing lipstick.
It is referred to as being shimmery, and it is, but not in your face shimmery and certainly not glittery as far as I am concerned. I do have a high glitter tolerance threshold though. Some people who loathe shimmer would probably notice it a lot more than me, and, likewise, people who love glitter may wish there was a bit more.
I like the packaging. Wish it was a bit more substantial. I feel like they are overpriced a bit. That is all.

Last Christmas, my best girlfriend showed up to a hangout wearing the most spectacular deep blue lipstick. It was gorgeous – wearable, dark, and almost purple-toned. She informed me that it was the Ardency Inn Modster lipstick in Black is Blue. I loved it. And I’ve been on the hunt ever since for something like it. (I’m not into ordering cosmetics online, and it isn’t sold in stores near me.)
Fast forward to this month. I’m on Sephora’s site and see that Kat Von D has a new lipstick line out, which seems to be replacing the older KVD Foiled and Painted Love ranges (thank goodness). I noticed a deep blue shade in the selector boxes and nearly flipped. The image that came up was stunning – a perfect navy with purple undertones and a stunning purple shimmer. I knew I had to try it out, but hadn’t resolved to buy it until trying it on after the nightmarish experience I had with her old lipsticks.
Well, kids, it seems they finally reformulated the old line into something MUCH better. First, let me just say that the finish is fantastic. It’s overall matte in texture, but the shimmer is pronounced, which in a blue shade like this can be a godsend. SO much dimension! Also, it seems to have a good bit of lasting power and doesn’t feather or bleed like crazy like the old line did.
Also, the scent, while subtle, is sweet and pleasant – almost vanilla-like, as opposed to the rotten boiled meat smell of KVD’s previous lipsticks.
The color on my lips is very true to what is in the tube, and it is INCREDIBLY pigmented. Absolutely gorgeous!
The packaging is cute. It’s shiny black plastic that’s designed to look like it’s coated in black pyramid studs. Right up my alley. And it feels sturdy.
Price-wise, it’s more expensive than the previous line, but it outperforms it in every way. I’m not new to paying $21 on a lipstick – heck, I’ve dropped $30 if I thought the product was good. To me, you should know what you’re getting into with premium brand cosmetics. They aren’t cheap, but sometimes, you find colors that are so unique and interesting and would never be found on drugstore shelves.
It does tend to settle a tiny bit into lip lines, but a quick smushing together fixes that right up. No need for a lip liner – it stays within the confines of your vermilion border like a champ!
Overall, I’d say this is a gorgeous shade that is worth adding to your repertoire if you want a brave color that will enter the room before you do.
P.S. This is absolutely perfect when paired with gold eyeshadow, winged liner, and a heavy dose of mascara.
