5* – one of my favorite red lipsticks. I will often wear it under another red just to give it staying power

I applied this lipstick after using a lip scrub and lip balm. This lipstick did not live up to Stila’s promise of being a “all day” lipstick. It flaked off and looked terrible on my lips after the hour and I tried several type of pre lip preparation and application techniques. To sum it up the formular was a waste of money for me, but the positive is the packaging is nice.

The color is very beautiful shade of red. This red is sooo pretty, and I would say it is in between Retrofuturist from Lime Crime and Ruby Woo by Mac. This is just unique.
Thou the color itself is pretty, the formula is very drying especially on my already dried lips. I have tried many matte liquid lipsticks and this is definitely one of the most drying formula among them. And in inner rim of the lips becomes gross looking white cast if you don’t retouch.

Stila advertises this as a “hydrating” formula which is super misleading because this is the most drying long-wearing liquid lipstick that I’ve ever tried, and I’ve tried quite a few. Application is also patchy but applying more than one coat makes it uncomfortable on the lips and the formula accentuates every fine line and lip imperfection. I will be replacing this as soon as I can with a matte red-orange lippie from another brand. This formulation seems to be working for people in other colors, but Tesoro is just horrible. This was my first purchase from Stila in a long time and the quality of the lipstick coupled with the false advertising has really turned me off from the brand. Just, ugh.
