Love this one. This is the vampy lip for warmed toned women (while mac cyber is more on the cool side). Looks very sophisticated paired with nightmoth lip pencil and a golden set of eyeshadows, or also with mac coopering! Great winter look that truly makes a statement. Formula is a little drying, and I know this can be a deal breaker for some people, so… there’s that.

Smoked purple is a nice color but fades easily even when your lips is filled in. First time I applied it it seems like it was tugging on my lips, but now it applies well. The shade can also look black depending on whrich Lip liner you shade in your lips with. Next time I’ll get cyber maybe since I love satin finishes.
04-14-16. I applied spice lipglass over it and the texture was nice. Just took the applicator and dab the middle area of my lip once then smacked and rubbed them together.

Has anyone who finds this product patchy and over drying tried it with the Mac prep and prime lip primer first? I use the primer then a matching Mac lip liner to fill in the whole of my lips then use the lipstick on top.. I’ve never found it to be over drying, patchy or difficult to apply when using them all together and a simple top up of just the lipstick keeps it going all night long.. Even when eating and drinking. It’s also a great cover up for red wine lips!

The colour is gorgeous, and it’s a beautiful matte. However, the formula is just awful. The product is hard to even get on your lips because it’s so dry. It applies patchy and has very little staying power. I often warm the lipstick up with my finger before applying it to my lips, and that softens it up slightly. Wouldn’t repurchase again, unfortunately.

I’m such a massive fan of MACs matte lipsticks. For me they’re the least drying matte lipsticks I have tried, they don’t ‘set’ so the lipstick stays creamy on your lips. They also smell divine!
I cannot count the amount of dark purple lipsticks I have and I dislike them all for the same reason. That reason being that I hate the fact they stain your lips bright pink! I have been on the hunt for a dark purple with black undertones that will not leave your lips pink as it comes off through the night/day!
Finally I have found that! Smoked Purple is a gorgeous, almost black, purple – NO RASPBERRY TONED PINK IN SIGHT! Lasting power is a good 5/6 hours like all other MAC matte formulas!
A definite win for me but in my opinion, probably not a colour you could wear to work or school, definitely a night time show stopping colour in my eyes!

Smoked purple is a beautiful dark purple. It is a bit drying but all matte lipsticks are. You need to exfoliate before applying. I wear it with night moth and it gives the perfect gothy chic dark lip. With this color you don’t need to do anything to your eyes except apply a thin line and lashes. It’s by far one of my favorite fall colors.
