I was looking for an affordable product I could apply without a mirror and wear every day. This product fits the bill. I got it in the shade Mischievous and it’s a perfect casual color. It’s definitely a dusty rose. In the tube, it looks way too dark for everyday wear, but it’s so sheer that it turns out to be an MLBB shade for me! I’m about NC15 for shade reference. I have to put several layers on, but that doesn’t bother me since its moisturizing. I wouldn’t categorize it as super long-lasting. I can get away with 2-3 hours without eating or drinking anything. It stained my lips a bit, but I don’t mind since I like lip stains. This lippie is super soft though. That is my only complaint. After about a month it has started to lean against the tube. If you’re not careful you could easily break the bullet off. Just use this bullet lipstick with care and you should be ok. Also, don’t leave it in extreme heat like a car or something that sits in the sun. It’s way too soft for that. Overall, I am pleased with what I get out of the lipstick for the price.

I too love Besame lipsticks, and am a sucker for pinks and lighter formulas. I had to get Mint Rose and I’m glad I did. I feel that they are moisturizing while wearing, and do leave a stain after it wears off, which I don’t mind. Next I need the berry shade. Also, FYI, try Portrait Peach and Portrait Pink lipsticks if you haven’t, perfect for summer.

This is a review for Besame’s new sheer lipstick formula. I have 2 shades: Berry Rose and Chocolate Kiss (there is one more shade, Mint Rose). These are super new and part of something called “House of Besame,” which I guess is an extension of the regular line but I can’t tell what its purpose is haha.
Anyway! These deserve a review and there aren’t many out there yet. My relationship with them (over the course of two weeks so far, very summer fling) has been sort of a rollercoaster but I am ready to commit. I pretty much bought them as soon as I got the Besame email announcement (don’t worry, I’ve begun to unsubscribe from all promotional emails) because I am a huge sucker for sheers, and I think the regular Besame lipstick formula is one of the best.
They have the traditional angular Besame bullet shape, which I know is polarizing but I happen to love it, and the tube casings are a light pink (sturdy, not chintzy) plastic instead of gold metal. They have a pleasant minty taste and feel—it’s slightly tingly but it feels natural and not chemically, if that makes sense. I do find them to be *slightly* drying because of that, but it’s not deal breaker level.
The texture is difficult to describe. It’s thin, slightly oily, slippery, but the pigment applies evenly to lips and adheres well for a sheer. It sets. Obviously it will transfer, but like the regular Besame lipsticks (I don’t know how they do this), the top layer is what wears off, and there is a base layer that sticks around, so the wear time is very decent for a sheer. It’s a very elegant formula, to be honest. It defines your lips. The color sinks in and leaves a dewy glow in its wake—it’s really very 1800s Euro, like pressing the juices of flower petals to your lips, except it probably tastes much nicer.
These do seem to depend on weather and the condition of my lips though. (I think most minty things do.) Like…application is even, it doesn’t emphasize dry lips, flakes, etc., wears with grace, but on maybe 15% of the times I wear it I don’t like it. The rest of the time? I LOVE it.
The photos on the Besame site are a pretty accurate representation of the 2 shades I have. Chocolate Kiss is a tawny warm nude that is looking amazing on me this summer, and Berry Rose is super lovely too—it’s pretty bright, actually.
I think these are really well done, and I definitely recommend trying them! There are only 3 shades, but they are well-thought-out, mostly universal colors. I’d rate these a 4.5 just because of the slightly drying factor, but they’re worthy of rounding up to a 5.
Side note, one of the best sheer lip products I have EVER owned is the sadly discontinued Besame Sweetheart Balm in Cherry. I still have more than half of the tub left, since you only need a dab. It’s truly amazing and a testament to a brand that doesn’t make a ton of products or shades, but what they do, they do well <3
