FYI as far as I know most if not all of the Rouge Rouge line have been discontinued. However, I bought mine on Hautelook and I reckon unsold stock may eventually end up at your local Nordstrom Rack. That said I purchased 3 shades:
1: Sweet Desire: Shiseido describes this as a peony shade. No. Not mine. This color is straight up mauve. I actually dislike most mauve but this one will look great in Autumn. This has a slight pink undertone but it is mauve with character.
2: Real Ruby : Shiseido describes this one as having the nuances of an actual ruby gemstone. Well, that is what I bought this from BUT the actual color is a mid tone soft warm red. Very wearable, not obnoxious but by no means does it IMO resemble an actual ruby gemstone, synthetic or pigeon blood.
3: Bloodstone : Shiseido describes this as a red with brown undertones. Well that was what I wanted and was hoping for and in many YouTube swatch videos it indeed looked that color. The reality is this is straight up burgundy. Very pretty and wearable on most but I just do not decipher brown autumn ear undertones.
Granted, my lips are not pigmented and I’m very fair complected and all of these colors had a muted vibe.
All have a very creamy texture and pigment saturation is divine. Real Ruby and Bloodstone have very, very fine microshimmer which gives added dimension to the pigments and assist in making ones lip appear plump and supple. All are quite shiny. They can be made matte by powdering your lips but I didn’t do that.
My gripe is wearing the deeper colors is challenging. They smudge and migrate quite a bit even with a lipliner, whether invisible or pigments. As many of us, myself included, have become indoctrinated into matte lipstick the Rouge Rouge finish may feel too slick. I personally don’t dislike this but I will be mindful to frequently check my lips, glass, napkin, fork and cheeks when dining lest I not look inebriated.
I will buy more if HL has another event but I’ll look into pinks and coral reds.
If you see these don’t hesitate to buy if you find a color you love. These are HE and elegant.

I have four lipsticks from this line:
* Murray is a pigmented bright-ish warm coral pink with cream finish.
* Ruby Copper is an intense neutral red with cream/satin finish and great pigmentation. My favorite si far.
* Toffe Apple is a medium pigmentation red mixed with some burned apricot and very glossy finish – almost vinyl-like.
* Crime of Passion is a pink with hints of red and coral depending on the light, shiny finish
All of these lipsticks look beautiful and apply effortlessly while feeling very còmfortable. The packaging is also gorgeous. I’m least satisfied with Toffee Apple; although I love the color it needs more frequent reaplication than the other two and bleeds around the lip line throughout the day.

By far, this is my favourite lipstick formula for cream finishes. It leaves my lips hydrated. I love this so much, I actually purchased three shades over a course of two months! I’m a lipstick collector so I’ve tried about 80% of the lipstick brands in the market and personally, nothing beats this particular line of Shiseido for creaminess and comfort.
Liaison is a pinkish everyday red and my first purchase. Love the colour but this definitely feathers if I accidentally line all the way to the edge of my lips. Using a lip liner solves this. Otherwise, the wear is great.
Rose Crush is THE BEST wearable nude lipstick ever. THE BEST. My MAC shade is NC20 to NC25 (or Nars Deauville) and most light nudes tend to wash me out but not this! This is the perfect brownish rose/plum out there and I find myself reaching out for this over my 40-odd lipsticks often. It isn’t too dark where it looks loud but it also isn’t too light that it almost looks like I have no lipstick on (which is the case for Nars Apoline).
I was intending to buy Bloodstone but changed my mind when I tried out Rouge Rum Punch (which is the third shade I had). I initially wanted to replace my drying MAC Viva Glam I with Bloodstone but while the colour is nice, I couldn’t help myself with Rouge Rum Punch. I was afraid to buy it because it looked similar to Bobbi Brown Luxe Lip in Bond which I also have. However, when I got home and compared, Rouge Rum Punch is definitely a shade lighter (and thus more wearable during daytime) and isn’t as muted. While Bobbi Brown Luxe Lip is supposedly a hydrating formula, I still find there is nothing like the buttery, creamy, soft texture Rouge Rouge.
I’m hoping Shiseido decides to release more colours in their Rouge Rouge line. It is absolutely amazing. This even rates well in Temptalia (and although I agree with most of her ratings, I don’t get the same experiences as her with some makeup). This one though, definitely spot on. Definitely a win.
Would I repurchase? YES YES YES. Right now, I’m already deciding whether to get Sweet Desire or Murrey!

This lipstick is 99% perfect. My only complaint is that it bleeds, but for one I don’t wear foundation regularly, so if you do, you won’t even experience this problem, and while it does want to sneak into your fine lines, it doesn’t stain them, so you can easily tidy up your lipline with a tissue halfway throughout the day. Or it can just be worn with a clear lipliner. It also depends on how dry your lips and your skin are, because on me, it bleeds more on some days than on the others.
I got it in Bloodstone; I don’t know about the other shades, but this one must be seen in person in a store. For some reason it photographs much much brighter than it actually is. The colour is a warm muted red with a bronze metallic sheen to it; the best comparison would be a piece of raw beef steak. I usually wear blue reds, but this looks fantastic on me. I can’t think of any skintone this would not suit; it’s a very, very wearable red. That type of red lipstick you can slap on in 30 seconds in your pocket mirror and add some mascara, and then show up somewhere at 6 in the morning, and you’ll just look chic and put together. If your skintone is very deep, I’d really advise you check this out in a store before buying it; it might refuse to show up on you.
The application is incredibly smooth; the lipstick bullet is cut into a small rounded tip, so in my opinion, you really don’t need a lipbrush at all. The formula itself is an absolute dream: stays soft on the lips, is actively moisturising, and yet somehow manages to cling to your mouth so it’s pretty much transfer-proof. You can have a cup of coffee in peace. It doesn’t survive a greasy meal where your lips will be touching the food and utensils a lot, but then again, no lipstick survives that, and as I said, it’s so effortless and easy to apply, you can touch it up without a problem when you’re out. The texture and feel of the lipstick on the lips is pretty incredible; the finish is a soft sheen, not too glossy or too matte, and the consistency is that of a nice smooth lipbalm. It’s practically weightless. The formula responds very well to being sheered out and worn as a stain, if that’s your jam.
The packaging is gorgeous, lacquer-black with the company’s logo in red on the top and magnetised, so it closes easily despite the asymmetric shape of it. The price kinda gives me a headache, but it’s got 24 months of use time and it is an incredible formula, so it really can’t be said that it isn’t a damn good investment. I’d say get this in a shade that you’ll wear very often; it’s the perfect lipstick for all-day-every-day wear because the formula is so comfortable and moisturising. All the shades in the range seem to me like they’d be exceedingly wearable and flattering for a wide variety of personal styles and skintones. There aren’t any extremely exciting or eye-punching colours in it and the range is exclusively in the shades of red/pink, but they’re all gorgeous and very elegant. All of them are on the warmer side of red, though, so that might be a problem if you exclusively wear cold/blue reds and pinks. However, I thought I was such a person, and I discovered a lipstick within the Rouge Rouge range that looks incredible on me, so I’d urge you to reconsider your stance and take a look at these. You might find something fantastic for yourself in there.
All things considered, this is a damn near perfect lipstick and if I can afford it, I absolutely will buy it again, in this shade or in some other.

After losing interest and becoming bored with the matte finishes of the popular lippies out there I found Shesiedo’s Rouge Rouge lipsticks to be an absolute breath of fresh air. They are creamy and stay creamy and have just a little touch of luminescence. This is not a long wear formula, but still stayed on around four hours before I had to reapply. I went back and purchased a second color. Really hoping Shiseido will use this formula in a nude shade range. Very comfortable and doesn’t dry my lips or make them peel.
