Sephora has launched 30 new lipsticks in this lovely formula, which I find a wonderful and beautiful change from the plethora of matte lipsticks that have flooded the makeup market over the past years. During the VIB Sale, I purchased the shade Empowered (04), which Sephora describes as a deep red. It’s a bit brighter than the description “deep red” might lead you to believe. It is delightful to wear – hydrating and comfortable. The colour is really lovely and the wear time, for something this glossy and hydrating, is good too and it fades evenly, leaving behind a nice even stain of colour, which is also a nice feature. In many ways, this formula (based on the only one I’ve tried) is very much like the much pricier YSL Volupte Shine Oil in Stick lipsticks but these are about 1/3 the price for very similar performance. I plan to pick up a few more of these. My only complaint is that it’s almost impossible to see what colour you’ve purchased. The teeny, tiny writing on the bottom can only be seen with a magnifier and shows only the # (if you know where to look), not the name so if you have a few of these in similar shades, good luck trying to figure out which is which (I’ll probably stick small Avery labels on these or try writing on the side with a Staedtler permanent skinny marker.
