My best red lipstick, my son picked it up for me and he is so proud when I wear it, because this lipstick is absolute stunner. It does cover my pigmented lips in two layers and never bleeds. The red looks best on my brown skin tone. True winner, this one.

This is the queen of lipsticks as far as I am concerned. It is a thing of luxury and beauty. I have not found another red like this in regards to shade and formula. It is the perfect shade of red and what I would consider to be a true red. I actually struggle to pick out the undertones in this, in some lights it looks blue and in other pink. All the while it does not even lean particularly strong in either direction I would consider this to be neutral, or at least have very slight cool undertones. It is bright and glamorous and rich with pigment. It isn’t a vampy red nor is it is a muted red. It applies so smoothly, doesn’t bleed and is pretty much opaque. The packaging is what you expect for the price, it stands out and has a decent heavy weight to it. Yeah it may be a bit impractical, but this isn’t your average lipstick. A queen needs a throne.
The longevity of this is phenomenal. While something like greasy fried chicken will nearly always remove some pigment, this remains to be the longest wearing lippie I own. The amazing thing is that despite the drying nature associated with long wearing formulas, this remains to be very comfortable without drying the lips and dare I say may also even hydrate the lips (as much as a lipstick can). The finish is also perfect. It isn’t super glossy yet it still has a lovely sheen. The finish is a slightly creamy satin that it isn’t too creamy that it slips everywhere.
The price is higher than your average department store lipstick, but it is still cheaper than Tom Ford! And I would say it is definitely worth at least owning one rouge g, especially if you are a lipstick lover like me. This is my perfect red and I wore it on my wedding day.

I purchased this lipstick when it first launched. I loved it, wore it frequently, then somehow got away from using it. I don’t remember why.
A few weeks ago, I pulled it out of my lipstick stash box, and fell in love with it all over again!
It is a vibrant, shiny, blue based red, that doesn’t bleed, and wears extremely well.
I honestly think that if I could only have one red lipstick, this would have to be the one I would choose. (And believe me, I own quite a few to choose from!)
It is the epitome of classic elegance, it’s not in the least a drab “safe” red, nor is it a dark, or blood red. Its not a pink red, it’s a true red. It’s bright, but I can’t imagine it ever being deemed tacky or garish bright. If you wear it, you will be noticed!
It is shiny, if you don’t like shiny this could covert you!
Yes, the case is heavy, I’m not really a fan, but it wouldn’t keep me from repurchasing.
Although it was originally a LE release, it is still available at a Nordstrom and Neiman Marcus.
Part of Guerlain’s description is as follows:
“This exceptional object boasts a comprehensive, premium formula containing a star ingredient: ruby powder, which acts as an optical whitener to bring out the color and shine of the shades. The blend of natural active ingredients (Tiger Grass, wild mango butter, Gugul resin used in Ayurvedic medicine) completes the formula to plump up, smooth and bring moisture and softness to your lips.”

Garconne is classic, luxurious, and stunning. It’s the perfect blend of cool and warm, but leaning on the cooler side. The formula is creamy and it applies easily with just the right amount of glide. One application gives even opacity so there’s no need to go back over or layer it on. It’s moisturizing yet it doesn’t make your lips look overly shiny. The wear is the longest I’ve ever experienced, even compared to dryer, more matte formulas. The packaging is really over the top luxury at its best. It’s modern and provides you with a glamourous experience with every use. Seriously, you will command attention when you apply this lipstick in public so be prepared. This is a $51 dollar lipstick and you get a $51 dollar experience- from the formula to the packaging- every time you use it. Not only will I repurchase in the future but I don’t know how I can go back to buying any other lipstick now that I’ve experience Guerlain Rouge G. I cannot recommend enough.

Yes, it’s a red lipstick that costs $50. But it the best formula I’ve ever come across and the color is the perfect blue-based red for me, so I will repurchase it gladly. It applies beautifully and lasts comfortably, no slipperiness of gross lip drying at all. No need for lipliner or balm/gloss, this sets shiny and stays that way through drinking and eating. It’s magical, I’m telling you. Most bright reds tend to fade weirdly, stain weirdly, or just end up looking weird overall after a few hours. This doesn’t, and when I do have to reapply it’s a fancy experience. The packaging is very luxe, albeit heavy as hell. Packaging aside and price aside, I would repurchase this forever.

This is one of my favorite red lipsticks, due to the wear and texture of this l/s. It stays on forever without having to retouch, and doesn’t dry my lips out like a lot of my other red lipsticks. It’s not necessarily a unique red, but it’s a red that lasts and lasts. I’m used to having to retouch every hour or so, but this stays on all night and moisturizes my lips, so it’s a keeper for me. The case is also awesome–makes me feel like a spy with lipstick:)

Garconne is the red lipstick ne plus ultra. I don’t need to use a lip liner or primer or any of that jazz when applying Garconne — I just brush it on with a lip pencil, and I’m good to go for hours. I’m talking about eating and drinking like a pig, folks . . . Garconne just does not budge! I’m not even leaving lip prints on coffee mugs! I’m in love with the color and the formula; this is the most high-end lipstick I’ve ever used, and this product both feels and performs like it. It’s less drying than any other lipcolor I’ve ever used, except for the Revlon lip butters. The product has no scent to it that I can discern. I think Guerlain made this out of baby unicorn tears or something. I don’t even care.
Some may look at the color and think “wow, that is just too red, I will look like a clown,” but Garconne is surprisingly wearable! Somehow, the shade is both bold and well-balanced. It doesn’t seem to clash with anything in my closet, so it’s fairly versatile. I pair it with neutral/natural makeup if I want to look chic and sophisticated, and I pair it with a smokey eye if I want to look capable of killing you in your sleep and getting away with it. (I opt for the latter, perhaps, more than I should. I don’t even care. You can’t stop me. I am wearing The Red.)
The obvious downside is the price. This is the most expensive lipstick I will ever, ever own. However, you can rest assured that I DID look for drugstore alternatives, and found none. (Some colors are similar at first look, but they all wear much differently. The formulas are all deeply inferior in comparison, and many of them have weird synthetic smells.) In this case, you actually do get what you pay for. In this case, I paid to look like a murderous pin-up girl, and I REGRET NOTHING.

How is this lipstick not rated yet???
This is THE best lipstick I have ever owned.
Wearing Rouge G after subsisting on drugstore, MAC, and UD lipsticks is like upgrading from a Yugo to a Rolls; a Swatch to a Blancpain; a McNugget to genuine Kobe beef…
You might think the color is unoriginal and dupable — practically everyone makes a red, right? — but this particular shade is a timeless red, with a hint of blue and gorgeous depth and shine. There’s also the fact that this formula is exquisite: it’s creamy and moisturizing, but it doesn’t feather or bleed or fade or migrate. All of which is to say nothing of the wear, which is fantastic: this shade comfortably hangs on for 8 hours.
All in all, this lipstick is sinfully pleasurable to wear and incredibly low maintenance — no balm, liner, or gloss needed. For me, it’s my sexy, “power” red, with which I only really need some eyeliner, mascara, and f-me pumps. (And I know I struck gold if my SO is offering to buy me backups!)
PS: This is supposedly part of a LE 2011 Fall collection, but I’m still finding it at both Nordstrom (online and in store) and at Sephora (in store). FWIW.
