This lipstick really ticks all the boxes: it is handy, very elegant to show off when you apply in public places :o) you don’t waste product as you click to have the right quantity peeking out of the tube, it is a dream to apply, it moisturizes intensely like a lip balm yet it is full pigmented and gives a full, saturated semi-matte finish. And it is really long lasting, leaving your lips full, plump and hydrated.
The only downside is that the shades displayed online are not so true to the real life shades.
I did not know this detail, so assuming it was all fine I bought 2 shades sight unseen.
I now own #30 Chai Latte – a cool toned beige but so pale that is a quite a “concealer shade” (online, it seemed a warm one and not that pale!) – and #29 Orchid Glaze, a cool toned mauve that would be perfect on pigmented lips /ethnic skintones.
At a first glance I was disappointed by the shades – cool toned shades don’t suit me as I have yellow undertones – but I so fell in love with the superb formula and the application that I thought: I must find a way to wear these!
Solution: I layer them with other more vibrant shades … As an example, I layer #30 Chai Latte with Dior Rouge Trafalgar (an orange based intense red) and I get the most beautiful Coral Orange, very wearable very office-friendly. I am ravished!
All in all, I am really a fan, and I am going to purchase one or two more shades (swatching them before)!
So… I really recommend this lippie but if you have the opportunity swatch these babies in store before buying to find the perfect shade for you.

I will repurchase if they can create great nude shades. I got the limited edition in #500, which is rosy with orange undertone, but on the lips, it is rosy, sort of like a rosebud shade without brown undertone. It is sort of a velvet texture lipstick that leans more to moisturizing, medium to full coverage. It glides on like a dream and feels very smooth, but if your lips is dry, you won’t like how it looks on your lips, but that is usually the case for most lipsticks. You don’t need or should I say, it is not formulated that you have to buy Rose balm to make this lipstick work for you.
The tear drop shape to apply on your lips make it easier to reach every curve of your lip and the click, to push the bottom of the pencil push up the lipstick.
If you want to compare this to Rouge Pur Couture The Slim Long Lasting Matte Lipstick, I would have to say By Terry is a lot better, even though the staying power is not as good as YSL Rouge Pur Couture The Slim Long Lasting Matte Lipstick. The texture is softer when applied on and how it sits on you lips.

The packaging of this product is excellent and the main selling point in my opinion, although initially I thought it was a bit gimmicky it is actually more hygienic and easier to apply than your standard lipstick and you don’t need to worry about a misshapen bullet. As for the product itself I am not as impressed. I got the shade 1, Mimetic Beige. The colour is my perfect pinky nude, with just the right balance of warm and cool tones, however the formula actually has small glitters throughout which show on the lips, not what I was expecting. I’m not sure if this is the case with all the shades. The bullet also has the strong By Terry scent, so if that bothers you you may want to steer clear. Overall it applies nicely and lasts well, good pigmentation as well, it’s just a shame about the glitter.

When the Rouge-Expert lipsticks were launched a couple months ago, I was hesitant about trying them out for a couple of reasons. First, the reviews were mixed and even the beauty bloggers who unfailingly profess to ‘LOVE!!’ every single new release seemed quieter than usual. Second reason was it just looked sort of gimmicky – the ‘click stick’ tube and teardrop shape just seemed like trying too hard to be clever marketing tactics.
In the end though, I gave the Rouge-Experts a try. Why? Well, because the swatches on Beautylish were really gorgeous and also because By Terry rarely releases a bad product in my experience. And I am so glad I did give these a go because I love these lipsticks!
My first two were #12 Naked Nectar and #11 Baby Brick, both of which are just stunning. Baby Brick is a great choice if you want to get into red lipstick but don’t want anything too bold/something you wouldn’t end up using regularly. Naked Nectar is gorgeous – a honeyed peach that doesn’t have any beige in it (beige bases are not flattering on my rosy lips, they make me look washed out). I’d describe Naked Nectar as more like a ripened apricot with that soft blush of pink peeping through. Anyway, in short order, I quickly bought three more shades: #3 Bare Me, #13 Chilly Cream and #19 Crimson Click (I’ve uploaded swatches of all five shades I own above). I also have my eye on a few others – the shade range is just fabulous. Also, what you see in the tube is what you get – on my lips, they’re very true to the colour in the tube.
Formula-wise, these are highly pigmented and are perfect for ‘good skin’ days when all you need/want is a pop of colour on your lips and minimal eye makeup. (Which is not to say they don’t pair well with stronger eye makeup – my daily go to is a subtle feline flick and soft smokey neutral eye and I wear the bolder colours with no problem). The Rouge-Experts are also very work appropriate because of the demi-matte, non shiny finish. I say demi because it doesn’t make my lips look flat, like a lot of other mattes tend to do (Charlotte Tilbury’s Matte Revolutions are another fabulous exception). However, there is no sheen to the Rouge-Experts so I wouldn’t call it a satin finish either. Whatever you call it, it’s a winner – sophisticated and polished and ‘grown up’ in a ladies who lunch sort of way.
I can see why this lipstick may not be everyone’s cup of tea as it can seem slightly gimmicky at first and yes, the amount of product (1.5g) is less than generous to say the least. But I can forgive that because of this product’s strengths. Another win from By Terry for me!
PROS
– The tear drop shape is just perfect for achieving a crisp, precise lip without the fuss of lip liner or a lip brush. Application is effortless.
-Fantastic range of colours
-The lasting power is very impressive, around 5-6 hours I would say. (It isn’t the most hydrating formula however, so moisturising your lips in advance or layering balm over the top may be necessary). Will last through various cups of coffee, snacks, etc.
-Doesn’t emphasise llip lines or do that weird ‘crumbly’ thing where the formula breaks down around the corners of my mouth that some matte lipsticks do.
CONS
-May not be comfortable if you suffer from very dry lips.
-Cost is very high considering only 1.5g of product is included
