I am nc20 c1. Tried this in Burnt Spice and took it right back to the store to return it. It doesnt look good at all on me for some reason. Everyone seem to love it and i seen the color look really nice on youtube swatches but on me it looked like yellow poopy peach and it was cracked and dry. Application is really nice, smooth and buttery. But after it dries its serious cracked lips. I cant with this lol.

Nice, strong colours in this range but they really need to improve the formula. ALL matte lip colours are generally drying that is a given, however the issue with this range is that u can only use ONE coat. If you try to layer on top of it during the day it starts to crumble and you’re left with lumps on your lips. Really confused why they would make something like this, especially at this price. You literally have to wipe off your lips and start again…. which is ridiculous. You end up looking a mess. I bought the prep + lip primer to see if that made a difference and it doesn’t. I have 3 colours from this range and they all do the same thing. I won’t buy this from Mac again until they change the formula.

I chose Lady Be Good (similar color to the Spice lip pencil I’d say) and I hated it UNTIL I fixed it. The formula is horrible and the color dries different than it starts out. Weird. I tried all different ways to apply it (putting lip balm on first etc) and no matter what was tried it was horrible. Patchy, drying and didn’t spread well because it’s so thin. Ugh, anyway…I got fed up and decided to make it way better. I first squirted some lipmix satin into the tube THEN added some clear lipglass as well and now it’s a gorgeous moisturizing lip gloss: now it is perfect. I love the way the actual tube looks but way too much product comes out on the wand but seeing as it’s not a doe foot but a pear sort of shape that was probably all part of this particular product. I won’t be buying it again but at least I’m now happy with the one I bought and can use it.
One hour later: EDITED TO ADD: it turns out the retro matte formula does NOT play nice with either lipglass or lipmix satin: it would not blend. It applied perfectly on my lips then the retro matte formula would separate into patches while on my lips and would ball up when I rubbed my lips together. Arghhhh! So I got mad and took the stopper out of the tube, removed as much of everything I could from the tube (horrid retro matte formula is so thin it would easily come out past the other stuff I added earlier when the tube was whacked upside down on a paper plate on my kitchen counter) and refilled it with a more generous amount of lipglass, lipmix satin and lip conditioner. I took a clean bamboo skewer and stirred everything before replacing the tube stopper and finally NOW it is behaving, and the color of the tube is still looks the exact same as when I bought it yet it applies with only a tiny tint of the original color and a whole lot of hydration. Now it truly is perfect because it’s mostly three different Mac lip moisturizers combined! Never again and thank goodness this is the only Retro Matte Liquid I bought!

I have Burnt Spice and I absolutely love it. Make sure you use a lip balm first though

This is the only matte lipstick I love and actually works on me and I’ve tried many matte lipsticks including high end and this is the only one I’ll ever buy. Also I have extremely dry lips because I’ve taken accutane, but I can wear this all day and not have to worry about my lips getting chapped. It doesn’t flake or ever dry out your lips. *warning the colours do dry darker, so it’s better to go in store and test the shades.*

Absolutely love these. My favorite lippies. I have this in a few different shades. Lasts all day and is non-drying. To get the most pigmentation, you have to apply multiple layers and let them dry in between. I wish these came in a wider range of colors, but I love the ones I have. Oh Lady and Carnivorous are my favorite shades.

The most awful lipstick I ever bought. You’d think for £18 from Mac you’d get something better quality than a regular high street brand lipstick but this can’t event compare to some cheap versions on the market, it’s so bad ! patchy, feels heavy and sticky … I feel like I’m wearing something bought from a pound shop. Very disappointed.

I have the Carnivorous. The pigmentation is excellent. In just one swipe on my lips, I got a full coverage. I even don’t have to put another layer because it is already even. It wears off when it I ate oily foods, it came off and became really sticky which annoyed me, so I wiped everything off and reapply afterwards. The 8 hour and long-wearing thing that they claim may only be applied when you are not planning to eat oily foods.

I’ve been using this now and then for over a year now. I finally accepted that I hate this formula. It was expensive and I waited on a list to buy it, so I wanted to like it. I also love the color. But it is so hard to use, drying, and also is a complete disaster if you try to eat with it. You have to monitor yourself constantly to make sure it hasn’t gotten weird. The MAC velvetease lip crayons are 10 times better, and they gave you the same saturated color.
