I like how this is a very pinky red shade, and a very vivid colour, but it could technically go under the name pink, or red. The only problem with this colour is it is very drying, and has started to dry up in the tube, giving little colour payoff, despite the fact its a very vivid colour but it is clearly a drier, patchier formula than all the other mac formulas (it’s a retro matte), including the regular matte formulas. But the colour in itself is very beautiful and vivid, definitely not for the faint of heart. Be sure to use plenty of lip balm before and after using this formula.

I really waited long to get this lippie in my hand. But I am disappointed! Beforehand, I used Jordana Fiery coral as a dupe for this product. I am not ashamed to accept that Jordana’s cheap dupe was much better than the original MAC one. It drags, never sets properly on lips. Very patchy finish, if you apply twice. Don’t spend money on it. Buy Fiery Coral by jordana. Cheaper, but same colour and much more better finish.

The texture of this lipstick is atrocious it drags on the lips goes on patchy and doesn’t wear well at all. It really emphasises any chapped lips but the colour is it’s saving grace it’s beautiful and vibrant shame about the horrible formula. It leaves a stain on your lips that takes some scrubbing to get off. There are much better formulas out there probably a lot cheaper than Mac. Save your money and find an alternative.

If I could marry a bright red lipstick and live happily ever after, it would be this one.

Best of the retro mattes it is not red it is coral very bright and looks good on olive skin tones. I prefer this over ruby woo which that one adds 10 years to my face but RR is perfect and will draw attention.

This is by far the best red lip colour. I am nc42 with yellow undertones and this looks amazing on my skin tone – however baring in mind I use matte lipstick and liquid lipsticks regularly this formula is probably the worse that I’ve ever experienced. It’s far to matte and becomes very bitty bitty on my lips after a couple of hours wear. I also find it gets worse when I reapply – even more dry and flakey. I tried lip balms, exfoliating etc. Such a shame as I’ve struggled to find a similar colour in other brands. Just wish they they look at the formula again!

Great color and texture! It’s a perfect dark pink on me and it lasts for hours without smuding. It’s the first MAC lipstick I’ve bought in years and I can’t remember why I avoided buying them. Wonderful stuff!

I was actually looking to purchase Ruby Woo but the salesperson gave me this instead and I didn’t discover the mistake until I got home and used this.
I instantly fell in love. Ruby Woo may be a cult classic but this is MY colour.
As someone who is called a ghost or zombie by everyone because she’s not attractively pale but more the kind of girl who is given free spray tan stuff every summer by friends of friends and distant family members, it takes a lot to make me look ‘lively’ and let me tell you, this lipstick brings out the non existent pink in my cheeks like I actually have a natural blush!
I’m NC15 so I have a cool undertone (NC13 if I can find it but usually not, and special orders take too much trouble for Mac to order in) so I’m not sure how this fares with NW15, the sales clerk advised me to choose warm colours for my makeup due to my cool tones, and cooler tones (i.e. Ruby Woo) for warmer complexions.
Either way, I have this, Ruby Woo, Russian Red, and Lady Danger. This one is my favourite by far.
Did I mention I’m pale? Yup. Really pale. And my colouring is dark. Relentlessly Red lends me a warmth to my skin. It’s very bright (in a good way), less drying than Ruby Woo but still intensely matte. It smells like chocolate (to me, as does all Mac lipsticks), and I use a Mac Cherry or Art Deco Invisible Lip liner if I want a perfect red lip.
You can actually pull of a smoky eye (a SUBTLE smoky eye) with this lipstick, no more demure eyes and bright red lip, go crazy.
I was never a lipstick person, I love food and I always end up eating my lipstick but this is my go-to lipstick.
I should mention that this doesn’t last very long unless you drink and eat carefully. Without a lip liner, it will smear a little. But provided you eat like a lady and not like me, this lipstick doesn’t need much touching up (check around the 4 hour mark though).
If you put lip balm over this lip, it gives it a slight sheen. Dab gloss in the center of your upper lip and compress your lips a little and it gives a Mac lipglass finish.
Layer, blot, layer for best results (to intensify the colour). More lip gloss (transparent!!!) in the end makes for a ‘brighter’ and SLIGHTLY darker finish.
I would definitely try this instead of Ruby Woo, especially if you’re young. This is more ‘fun’ and ‘vivacious’.
I wear Ruby Woo to seriously expensive high end dinners with my family. I wear Relentlessly Red when chilling with my friends and eating out in town.
One last piece of advice, scrub your lips with honey and raw sugar (gently) before you apply. Because this is matte (and all mattes usually) amply every little crack, piece of skin, etc on your lips.
I don’t find lip primers very useful, and lip balms remove the ‘grip’/texture for your lipstick to stick on, so scrub with your cheap natural ingredients, and go crazy with this lipstick.
And if anyone tells you it’s too red, they’re either really, really old, or really, really jealous they can’t pull it off. Probably both.
You’re a princess. This is your lipstick. Seriously.

I’m probably going to have to give away all of my other MAC lipsticks, coz after wearing this there is no point in wearing any other.
