Just got this and I love it. It is absolutely the best of both worlds, it’s so smooth and creamy AND lasts long…amazing. The SA at bloomingdalese chose this color saying it would compliment me. For reference, I am pale with pinky undertones, blue eyes and black hair. I was not wearing any makeup at all and one swipe of this instantly made me look wonderful…LOVE IT!!!!

Bobbi Brown’s new line of lipstick in Creamy Lip Colour is a wonderful blend of moisturizing yet long-lasting with pigment rich hues. Raisin Berry on me is a red/berry/with slight brown undertones and is a very pretty contrast to my ppp/pink undertone complexion. I see no shimmer to this one but the lustre is still there, making this her most comfortable full-colour lipstick. Her semi-mattes are still wonderful but these are less likely to dry out the lips. My only complaint is that it takes a bit of tugging to apply straight from the tube as it is a very thick consistency. Other than that, the sleek, black packaging is signature Bobbi Brown and the slanted tip makes application without a mirror easier. $22 is expensive but these will last and the colour payoff and shine is worth that. For reference I am NC or NW-15, ppp/cool with pink undertones, green/gold/mostly yellow eyes.
EDIT: 2 February 2008; not impressed with how much tugging I have to do to get this on my lips and am finding it goes on streaky.

General/Packaging: Bobbi Brown introduced her new line of Creamy Lip Colors in Spring ’08 in 14 shades. Some are shimmery, some are mattes, but that is also relative, because even the non-shimmery colors have a subtle sheen which is quite lovely. But first things first – what caught my eyes initially was the sleek black metal packaging. I saw the display at Neiman’s where this line was first introduced and had to test them. The product tube underneath the cap has a slanted opening, and the tube itself is a little thinner than the regular BB lip colors (comparable to the BB Tinted Lip Balms) which makes for easy application and protects it against breakage. When I purchased the first one of this line I was very aware that I don’t exactly *need* any more lipsticks, but this formula is definitely so great that I went back twice after I got the first one of the Creamy Lip Colors and now have three already.
Formula: One ingredient is Shea Butter and indeed it is extremely smooth, seems to virtually “melt” into the skin. The feel is simply wonderful, not sticky or gooey, more like the perfect lip balm, combined with nice color. Compared to Clinique’s Buttershines the Creamy Lip Colors are less greasy or slippery and in terms of staying power I found BB’s formula light years ahead of Clinique’s. Lightly blotted they stay put for hours on me and my lips feel hydrated and downright pampered 🙂
Color: Raisin Berry of all the Creamy lipsticks, is the closest match to one of my favorite BB lipsticks which is Slopes. BB describes Slopes as a “flushed red”. It is a neutral muted red with a tinge of brown to it. The perfect daytime lipstick for me, goes with almost anything. For reference, I am neutral/cool toned and have fair skin, blond hair and green/grey eyes, my lips are quite pigmented. So cooler or neutral colors are usually my preference. Raisin Berry is quite close to Slopes with the added benefit of the creamy formula. Color goes on very evenly, and for me it has just the right opaqueness – definitely not sheer. With Clinique’s Buttershines I didn’t like the fact that especially the darker colors would not apply evenly. Ever since I purchased this I have used nothing else on my lips which is quite a statement, given the drawers full of lipsticks that I own. I bought two other shades to “dupe” my Nr. 2 and 3 most favorite BB lip colors and have been alternating between those three exclusively for the past two weeks.
Overall: Bobbi Brown got 2008 off to a fabulous start! A truly luxurious product and in my opinion a real lipstick innovation, firstly in terms of packaging and even more so in terms of formulation. Pricing is also quite luxurious at $22 but since I have never used a lipstick that felt so good AND stayed on so well I feel this is one of the few products that is worth every penny. Lipstick Perfection! Will definitely repurchase.
