I’ve bee looking for a red lipstick because I wanted to have one although I rarely wear straight-up red. However, having cut my hair super short I’ve found that lipstick can really lift my face and make me look more feminine! Having tried many reds and decided that bright reds do not suit me, I reasoned that it would make sense to buy one classic red from a line whose texture agrees with my lips, which get very dry easily. My favourite line is Lipstick Queen’s saints, but they are not available where I live. I had one of the EL envy lipsticks (rebellious rose), which is excellent, so I went to the EL counter. Envious is the most neutral, true red and it’s not too blue-based to pick up the slight ruddiness in my complexion. Anyway I would only wear it with a foundation base. The texture is really good, it’s very intense pigment and goes opaque in one swipe, does not dry out my lips although I don’t find it exactly moisturising either. Envious is is a bright red, but not so bright that your lips walk into the room before you do. I find it classic. I use a slightly more neutral lip liner, apply one layer of lipstick, blot and apply a little more. It lasts very well. These lipsticks are perhaps the best I have found on the high street and well worth the money. I’m glad I bought it and now look forward to wearing it more.
p.s. I have ashy brown hair, green eyes, yellow-toned complexion with a bit of redness on the face, NC20-ish, and my best lipsticks are LQ Saint natural, EL Rebellious rose, Charlotte Tilbury’s Pillow talk as a nude (though I find it a bit too drying), Shiseido’s Shizuka red (brick red) and Cover Girl Fervour (brown-rose).

I saw this shade in a magazine and had to have it. I purchased from Ulta and it did not disappoint!
The texture is rich and creamy, but not drying. It applies very smooth and with minimal fuss, which is amazing for a red lipstick. I used the Too Faced clear lip liner to set and it worked very well. It’s not super long lasting but it made it through dinner and drinks without fading to the point I had to reapply.
I’ve worn this out on countless occasions and I always get compliments. It flatters my skin tone and works with my complexion (NC20). Although I imagine this color would be very flattering on most women. The finish is not shiny, but still satiny. I absolutely love this formula and plan on purchasing many more colors!

Ah, gorgeous! I’m a red lipstick lover and although I have found The One To Rule Them All (Ruby Woo) it’s so dry that just cannot be swiped casually on the go. That’s why I’m unfaithful with other reds and Envious has become my go-to for everyday glam.
First of all the formula is divine; intensely pigmented with satin finish, longwearing and doesn’t dry my lips out at all. Also despite being so pigmented somehow it’s very easy to apply evenly with precision and doesn’t even require a lip liner with is a rare occasion with reds.
The color is the one Carolyn Murphy wears in the advertisement; vibrant classic red with a hint of raspberry which manages to look surprisingly modern. The packaging has also been updated and looks very sleek. Love!
