It’s a bit difficult to easily acquire Charlotte Tilbury’s products and I’ve been meaning to try Pillow Talk for a while now as I hear it’s a beautiful shade and recently, Flower Beauty arrived in Australia which was exciting as I’ve heard great things about the entire line. I purchased this instead of Pillow Talk hearing lots of buzz of it being a dupe to that lipstick, and might I do say, it has made me eager to try out more of Drew Barrymore’s line! The lipstick is stunningly amazing!!! And for its price (10 AUD) I was blown away by the quality. I own many other high-end brand lipsticks (MAC, Bite Beauty, NARS and more) and it applies and feels better than a lot of them but do keep in mind this isn’t a matte formula, and most of my other lipsticks are matte.
Also keep in mind Pillow Talk is a matte if you’re considering dupes, which is a plus for me as I prefer non-mattes in my makeup (lipstick included) and it looks shiny and pretty on my lips. I experience the slightest tugging, but I find this easier to apply than some of MAC’s lipsticks, those can be a bit dry. Some have said this collects on dry spots on their lips and it’s dry but I really don’t think that at all about this, it might even be a faulty one? Even on dry dry lip days this works completely fine.
It’s quite close to my natural lip colour (NC25), even closer than Velvet Teddy and it makes such a beautiful MLBB colour on my lips. This also isn’t extremely pigmented, but pigmented enough and I don’t think it wants to go for that and I’m completely fine with building up the colour. I also really like the packaging, I know I’ve said this before but for it’s price of 10 AUD everything is just so well thought out and made! The construction of the packaging is really great: the cap is smartly designed, it’s low enough so it can’t be knocked off while rustling in your bag, and the twist up feels very secure and sturdy, the only issue being the cap which is very slightly loose so it jostles a bit if you move it while locked in. It also looks very chic, it doesn’t entirely look and feel like a low-end lipstick, especially next to my other many high-end lipsticks, I really like the cute aesthetic design. It’s also definitely better than other similar priced lipsticks like NYX’s both in construction quality and design, I absolutely hate those ones, everything is so loose feeling like it’s going to fall apart any second.
Just as with the hype with Velvet Teddy, lipstick colour can vary so much and especially on different skin tones so do your research first, I’m guessing in skin tones other than warm it may sallow out the lip colour and make it look worse, which is a popular criticism of both Pillow Talk and Velvet Teddy. For me, I really really love it and it’s making me rethink my purchasing habits as I usually focus on higher-end lipsticks which generally vary 4-5 times the price of this lipstick. If you’re even just half-considering it, it’s a very low-risk investment since it’s so cheap so I think it’s worth to try. I’m not even thinking about Pillow Talk anymore after finding this and I definitely will be repurchasing it! Actually I take that back I can never have too many lipsticks… Otherwise, great job Drew!!

Emily Noel reviewed this as a dupe for CT’s PILLOW TALK lipstick. I bought it and found it to be very flattering on me. I even duped the Pillow Talk eyeshadow palette with 4 of my jillion e/s pans. Love the lipstick – it’s creamy and very pigmented. And, while swatching my lipstick stash, I discovered that SPICED PETAL is an EXACT DUPE for Revlon’s Super Lustrous lipstick in discontinued shade GINGER ROSE! Both are a rather warm creamy pink, an absolutely lovely neutral but still lively enough to bring color to my face. Very pleased!

This was highly raved on youtube and basically everywhere but I personally found this formula to be drying and patchy. It applied in clumps and held onto every dead skin on the lips…I guess I should have expected this from a matte formula, but this was not what I expected from everyone’s “it’s so creamy,” “I put this up there with high-end lipstick!!!” reviews.

I can’t get this is Asia so I need to go to quite some lengths to get it brought in for me and it’s well worth it.
Put this on par with my high end lipsticks from Dior and Chanel, if not better because:
1. Glides on smooth, does not sink into lines or require much precision.
2. So creamy you can just move your lips together and it blends back after water or light eats.
3. Does not dry lips at all so you can wear it daily.
4, Color is a ‘sexy nude’ shade due to the undertones so suited for day or night.
And those points don’t even factor in that this costs way less than branded lipsticks.
I have 7 from this line already! Can’t recommend it enough.

Every Flower Beauty lip stick is superb. Very high end colors and coverage. Unseen Ted, I believe. Love! Better than Bobbi Brown which I have used for years.

I had always overlooked Flower Beauty at Walmart and Ulta after having some weird experiences with their products some years back, but after discovering the wonder that is the Lash Warrior mascara (my latest HG, knocking Too Faced Better Than Sex out of the top slot), I figured I’d look into what other products the brand had to offer. After perusing Youtube to see what was new, I saw that a lot of people were raving about the Petal Pout lipsticks, so I gave it a shot and am SO happy that I did!
I have the shade Spiced Petal, which is a slightly deeper, medium nude with a neutral-to-cool undertone that is just so flattering against my fair, olive complexion. This shade is in the cream formula, and it should be noted that this range comes in both cream and matte varieties. (I’ve not tried the matte, so I can’t speak to those just yet.) Several people have compared the shade choices to be very Tom Ford-esque, and I can see why. When I think of an ultimate nude shade, I think Tom Ford, but with these, you can get the look at literally less than 20% of what you’d pay for their pricier counterpart! There are lighter nudes, which would work beautifully on much fairer complexions, as well as a handful of brighter and darker shades. But Spiced Petal is the nude I’ve been looking for since I ran out of my Smashbox lipstick in “Audition” and didn’t want to splash out the $21 to replace it. This shade is so perfect, as it looks so natural yet so plush and polished. I really love it for all kinds of looks, from a smokier eye to a “no makeup makeup” look.
The formula is lovely. It’s not especially hydrating, but with proper lip prep, it’s not drying either. I don’t find that it accentuates lip lines or causes any patches of lip to show, and it’s quite full coverage despite being so creamy. It’s not a glossy formula; I’d say it’s a bit more of a satin finish, which is perfect for a shade like this. It makes my lips look full and healthy, and I really love that.
The packaging is very pretty and simple, with a clear cap, white bottom, and rose gold tube. The bullet retracts all the way down, and the cap feels secure. At first, I was worried that the cap might come off in my bag, having had that experience with previous Flower lip products, but they have obviously improved on the design and made it far sturdier.
I purchased mine for a little under $6 at Walmart, but I know Ulta carries these lipsticks for around $9, and the Flower site seems to have them for around $7. That’s quite a discrepancy on Ulta’s part, if you ask me, but you’re more likely to find it there than you are at a Walmart, since so few WM’s carry the Flower brand these days. You’re getting 3.2 grams of product, which is slightly more than you get in other lipsticks. Either way, no matter where you pick these up, they are a fantastic deal. They beat out the quality of MAC, in my opinion, and are a fraction of the cost.
I will definitely explore other colors in this range, as well as check out more of Flower’s lip offerings, as this and the mascara have definitely changed my opinion of the brand!
Also, this whole brand is cruelty free!
