I picked up Our Pic after scavenging my CCO for Mac’s Exclusive Event or at least something like it. I, unfortunately, did not find EE, but I did found something similar, Our Pick. Our pick is a Taupe-y nude with a bit of brown in it, well at least, on my NC 45 skin. It can appear a bit ashy on me, but with a lipliner such as Cork or Chestnut or maybe NYX’s Chesnut or Toast that problem is gone. It is a satin shade, so it wears comfortably for four to six hours. If given a chance, I would definitely repurchase. However, until I get that chance, I am fine with other Taupe shades such as NYX Perfect Taupe Lipstick, Mac’s Fresh Brew, Lunatick Cosmetics’s Coven Cream and Renegade, NYX’s Butter, OCC’s Sebastian. I could go on and on. So many beautiful taupe lipsticks out here in the makeup world!!

i find myself reaching for this more and more, it really doesn;t look like what it looks like in the tube. i apply lip balm first and then top with pale frosty pink gloss and it seems to go with every makeup look

Fabulous color!!!! the one who compared it to aura is absolutely 100% correct. I was sooo sad when aura was discontinued. Bought this two days ago (found it at Cosmetic Company store) and jumped right on it – it’s gorgeous. I’m a NC50 and totally ROCK IT without looking like a corpse (or so I think, lol…). With the right lipliner and lip base, it’s just awesome and has great staying power. Love it! May have to buy another one just in case.

Yes it looks like mud. Yes it has grey tones in it and yes, it is MAC.
I absolutely love it. Now here is the thing, this has a greyish hue which in my experience is fantastic when you have a heavily pigmented lip and need to tone it down and achieve a really sexy nude mouth… by really sexy I do not mean corpse looking.
this lippie is it. Yes you need a brush to apply it and make it into the most amazing nude lipstick without the dreaded white, pink or peach undertones. It is just a big skin look.. so sexy lip.
love it and am purchasing a back up!
Edit: I just realized this looks like my old Bronx lippie — a color I wore for years!!

I love, love, love this lipstick! The color is a bit scary if heavily applied, and it looks like dull mud. BUT- if you apply lightly to one lip, smudge the two together and top with a clear or slightly sheer pink gloss, it gives the most perfect nude lip color. I find when I wear it this way, my lips are glossy and very plump-looking. I’ve received several compliments on this, and love it paired with MAC Cubic blush and Stila Golightly shadow- a very easy, polished look.

First off, this is probably not a color for all skin shades. I imagine it would look very dead on some people. However, I’m also rocking the Black Knight Cremesheen lipstick, so I’m not afraid of a shade like Our Pick. As with any color, I think your personality has more to do with whether you can wear it than anything. Then again, I have a very neutral skin tone (NC15) that I can wear just about anything with. When I read the description for Our Pick before it came out I was so excited. Grey lipstick sounded so cool.
This is not a true grey. There’s definitely taupe undertone, but it’s not overly green or yellow, just enough warmth to keep it from being cement grey. When I first tested it at my nearest MAC counter I was disappointed because the lighting in the department store made it look like Siss, which is a very golden nude shade I already have. I was really hoping it would be more true grey.
However, after looking at some swatches I decided to go ahead and order it. So glad I did. It looks absolutely nothing like Siss. It’s very unique, and I have an obscene variety of lipstick. This is now my favorite nude. I love the early 90s muted lip look (especially mauves), and this is perfect for that. It’s just unusual enough to be exciting. This actually looks more pinkish on me, so it doesn’t give the concealer lip look. Don’t judge this lipstick based on how it looks in the tube. You always have to see lipstick on yourself, how it interplays with your natural lip color. Lighting also makes a big difference, as with any makeup.
Some people have a problem with the Satin texture, but not I. There’s enough creaminess that it’s not unbearably dry like some of the Matte and Glaze shades. It would make a great Cremesheen, my new favorite formula, but this is satisfactory. You don’t have to apply it heavily, but I do. You can dab it on and put a gloss over it if you feel it’s too thick.
If you have ultra-pigmented lips with a lot of red and purple tone I suggest trying this on. The taupe in this color will work well to cancel out purple and neutralize the lip. I don’t have much lip pigmentation and it still works for me.
I bought two backups of this, and I’m really happy with that purchase. Don’t write this off because it looks greyish. It’s a subtle statement lip that I think looks very cool.

Our Pick definitely isn’t one of the better MAC lipsticks they’ve released. Color wise, it’s a nude/taupe with a heavy grey undertone. On my NC40 skintone, this is just too grey and looks a little off. I’m not completely repulsed by it, but I’m not incredibly won over by it either. This shade would’ve been incredible if it was a lustre and had a little bit of shimmer (instead of a Satin, which just makes it very thick/opaque) .. hopefully I can make this one work by playing with different lipliners or glosses with it. I suspect though, that this will likely end up on my swap list.

Our pick is a true taupe grey lipstick with no warmth in it at all. great with a smoky eye…I find it is nice with nude marcelle lipliner. i then apply our pick…BLOT because it is pretty dark pigmentation and i don’t want to look too grey and then apply either runway fave gloss or underage. either one looks great although underage pinks it up a bit. On its own…a bit too harsh. won’t repurchase.

Years ago MAC had a lipstick color called “Aura” that came out as part of their Earth Goddess collection. It was a deep, grey, plummy-toned taupe that looked cool and edgy, and I loved it so much I almost cried when it was discontinued. I had really hoped “Our Pick” would be a close replacement. It is described as a “cement grey taupe,” but that is not how it applies on my olive NC 35-37 skin. I would describe it as more of a chocolate milk-ish nude, very similar to “Fresh Brew,” but with a more matte, opaque finish. It is quite cool-toned, so I can see why some would have the impression of grey undertones, but this is not the straight-up grey lipstick that I was looking for. (I know it sounds weird and makes a lot of people look corpse-like, but grey-ish lipsticks really suit me!) Nevertheless, it is quite beautiful and I will use it often for a nude-lipped look.

Super unique and suprisingly flattering lipstick.
Since it’s a satin it has a nice shine, avoiding the corpse look, well, because it is a taupe lipstick.
the grey, i swear, makes my lips more plump. great effect. but for sure, the brown in this lip color is a warm brown.
this is not a nude lipstick on my nc35 but more of a your lips but better type of lipstick.
i’ve been looking for a grey-ish lippie for quite a while, so although it’s not too grey, the fact that it has this color is good enough for me. it looks like an opaque fresh brew, which is something i’ve been looking for quite some while.
