Let me say something first I own two other shades of lip tars in anime and black metal dahlia and both of these are the most pigmented and great wearing lip shades I own,but sadly role play is a bit of a disappointment,I was drawn to the beautiful metallic red shade in the tube but when I have worn it comes out more watery and patchy than the other two, also it fades much quicker and hasn’t got very good longevity,I think that with this shade they need to reformulate it but as for the other shades I own they are great.

I own several OCC Lip Tars, but Role Play is only my second metallic one. My first was Black Metal Dahlia, which is only the most perfect, beautiful and amazing Lip Tar in the world. So based on that purchase, and because I love red, I decided to buy this one. For me this one is just okay. The formula seems to be thinner than any of the other Lip Tars I have, including Black Metal Dahlia. This formula is more like the clear Lip Tar Primer that they sell. It is a pretty color and might satiate MAC Queen’s Sin fans, as the previous reviewer pointed out.

Obsessive Compulsive describes the color of Role Play as “Deep maroon with red pearl.” That’s fairly accurate, but don’t let the “deep” part put you off. Role Play is beeeyooteefull, and, in my opinion, quite wearable, even for an NW15 such as I am.
Even layered over a lip stain, which is the way I wear all Lip Tars, for the sake of longevity, Role Play turns out more of a “medium” tone on me. It’s the most beautiful softy shimmery berry red I’ve seen since MAC’s delicious “Wild ‘Bout You,” though Role Play is warmer than WBY. In fact, Role Play comes close to being a color dupe for MAC “Queen’s Sin” or even “Port Red.” Compared to the above photo, Role Play comes out on me looking a bit deeper, and the tiniest bit more pink.
Over stain (my choice is Milani “Caberet Blend” Power Lip) and a bit of clear Lip Tar, Role Play looks beautiful and feels comfortable for hours, though, as usual with a Lip Tar, lip liner is necessary to prevent bleeding. I got only a sample of this, but I fell so in love that I immediately ordered a full size, and I look forward to wearing this a LOT this fall. All OCC products are cruelty-free, which is important to me.The $18 price tag may seem a bit steep at first, but since a tiny drop of Lip Tar is more than enough for an application, a single tube will last a very long time. I’m so glad I “discovered” this.
