I’d previously purchased the regular liquid matte lipsticks from this range when the first released and enjoyed them, but they weren’t necessarily my absolute favorite formula. When these metallic versions were released earlier this year, I was basically disinterested as my love affair with liquid lipsticks had already come to an end.
However, when I swatched this (shade: Scream My Name) at Ulta yesterday, I knew I had to have it. I’m not huge on metallic lips over all, since they can be extremely unflattering on lips like mine (not super full, kind of line-dense, uneven), but with this particular shade, it’s more of a satin, brushed metal kind of look, which is quite pretty! I love this color in particular; it’s a deep, almost goth-y plum. It’s quite vampy, but still wearable, and the finish/color seems to shift depending on the type of light I’m in. It’s very unique, and VERY pretty.
As far as formula, this stuff is pretty ironclad without being drying. It’s very comfortable to wear and doesn’t suck all the moisture out of my lips, which is shocking since it’s a liquid lipstick. If I eat, it breaks down a little, but it actually applies over itself pretty well and doesn’t get too crumbly as long as I keep the layers thin.
I love the packaging. The applicator is a curved doe foot style, and it really hugs the lips. The tip is pointed enough to really get a precise line around the lips as well, which is essential for me.
It’s .23oz of product, which is comparable to most liquid lipsticks. At $21, it’s not exactly cheap, but is right in between drugstore and high-end. I don’t mind the price for such a wonderful product, as I find that the drugstore liquid metallics of this ilk have poor formulas and are WAY too metallic to ever be flattering.
I’m definitely going to try other shades from this range (I’ve got my eye on I Wanna Rock With You, which is a deep metallic burgundy), as well as the suuuuper metallic “transformer” that they have.
