Cosmic is a bullet lipstick in the spring ’18 Weather collection, that the brand describes as a “muted taupe” shade with a matte finish. For once I agree with the site’s product description; it’s a somewhat 90’s take on a nude shade that looks good all year round, that goes with all of my preferred eye makeup looks. I know that the shade shows up as sold out at the minute, but the brand always re-releases everything every few weeks – nothing they’ve done so far has ever been truly once-it’s-gone-it’s-gone, as they always have everything back two to four times per season.
Sound the alarm – I’ve finally clicked ‘yes’ for re-buy on a Kylie Cosmetics item; the brand has upped their quality recently and I hope they do more matte bullet lipsticks, rather then focusing on their liquid matte ones. The matte finish hardly drags during application and it feels weightless – the feel is similar to MAC’s matte lipsticks. The formula has great pigmentation and once it’s on your lips it won’t smudge or bleed, and it hasn’t had a noticeably drying effect on my lips. The other plus is that the lasting power is better then it is with the brand’s liquid lipstick lines on me; about 6 hours, depending on food/drink. I much prefer this more traditional bullet lipstick over the brand’s more-popular matte and velvet liquid lipsticks. One thing which could be a deal-breaker for some is the fact that this lipstick has a fragrance to it; it has a faint vanilla cupcake scent, that is very similar to the scent used in the brand’s matte and velvet lipsticks.
I’ve had no problems with the packaging – it is secure with a magnetic closure, and the metal tube doesn’t look or feel cheap; it has more weight to it compared to the creme bullet one. As the quality of the product/packaging is very good, I didn’t feel that this item was too overpriced, like I feel the other stuff that I’ve tried from the brand has been; of course, postage and import taxes bump the price up, but I knew what I was getting myself into.
