I have been wearing Spice it Up since it first came out over 16 years ago. It is a great mulberry red-brown shade. It is a lustre & all that comes with the lustre formula (light, juicy, usually surprisingly pigmented, forgiving but not as long lasting as other formulas). It is a gorgeous, impactful color. It packs more of an oomph than NARS Gypsy…not so much that much brighter, but just more pizaaz. It falls more into the red leaning berry family on me. Other shades in this category for me include NARS Gypsy & Revlon Spicy Cinnamon. Those aren’t “dupes” for Spice it Up, but they are definitely more of that mulberry red with a hint of brown tone to it. Gypsy is more earthy than Spice it Up. Spicy Cinnamon is a bit more red on me. Spice it Up is a bit more siracha than both.
Final thoughts, this has been an instant classic shade for me that I have been wearing since I was 27 years old (now 44). It is gorgeous and impactful but at the same time forgiving on the lips. I love the look of this lip. I tried not to rebuy it recently but there was a void in my collection, so it was recently repurchased. And I am glad to have back in the fold. One of my favorite red-ish shades. I am nw20, deep winter, 3n brown-black hair.

This is my first MAC product, bought because they had a deal going on around Cyber Monday. I have to say, I’m not disappointed in the purchase. My mood was for something sheer, and when I came across the mulled brown berry description, I stopped and shopped.
I like it. There’s no noticeable scent (though I picked up a tiny bit of vanilla the first few uses). It applies like a slightly more slick balm. The color is sheer but buildable. The packaging is sleek and secure with that click to let you know the cap is back in place. It’s not super long lasting because it’s a sheer formula with some slip, but that’s fine because it’s easy to reapply and more forgiving because of the sheerness.
The color is great, too, but in some ways I had hoped it would be a tiny bit more brown on me. It’s kind of a mix of colors, to me — a bit of brown, some red, some berry, etc. — but I still really like it and have been wearing it pretty regularly. Just a swipe and I get a nice hint of color, and then a bit more and it’s a pretty popsicle-like stain on the lips.

I’ve been a fan of this lipstick color for 20 years, it’s my go-to easy to wear safe-for daytime red that works well with my pale/warm (C3) coloring. I would describe this as a sheer warm berry red with coverage that’s buildable. It is a beautiful (and inexpensive) dupe for the famous Face Stockholm’s Cranberry Veil lipstick that Carolyn B. Kennedy was so famous for wearing.

This is definitely a mid-toned berry with brown undertones on my NC42 complexion. It’s quite a sheer product, from the ‘Lustre’ line of MAC Lippies. I think it’s a good every day colour because it’s a subtle, toned down red. It feels very nice on application and doesn’t dry out my lips.
I think you’d have to reapply this more often than a Cremesheen or a Matte, but it’s a pleasant colour — and i think versatile for many occasions. It doesn’t jump out at you and scream ‘RED!’ — but it is red, just a gentler shade.
Packaging and price are good for me. The formulation doesn’t last for ages on my lips, but it isn’t at all dry. I’ve had this shade for a few years and it hasn’t gone off in the tube – so it’s good value for money.

If you have olive skin and are looking for a foolproof red that works for all occasions, then this is your shade. I like the way it looks in the tube, but it’s even better on (I’m a medium olive-toned Latina – about NC 40/42). The lustre finish is perfect as well, and the shade pairs nicely with MAC Spice or any other nude liner. Along with Twig, this is one of my HG everyday picks.

Luv the texture an colour. I just got this today at a Macy’s on my vacay to Philadephia It’s an every day wear. Makes my lips smooth, I have matching lipgloss from MAC in a similar colour, I even get compliments already surprisingly

Love it! This was my very first MAC lipstick. The only lipstick I’ve ever used up, I am on my second tube. For reference I am NC45, with dark lips. It is a very flattering red, with brown/wine undertones. I never wear a lipliner with this and it does not emphasizes, dry, chipped lips. Simply put, it is a very nice everyday red, easy to wear, flattering lippie.

I have a friend who bought this and said she’d trade it out for diva. The colors are sort of similar just a different in brightness. Also being that diva is a matte she liked the dry look better.

Unfortunately this product really disappointed me. I had hoped for a sheer warm berry red, but on my lips this is a rather garish fuchsia shade that looks terrible with my coloring. Such a shame as swatched on my hand it seemed promising and the texture is great- sheer and natural. If reds have a tendency to go pink on you, I would avoid this.

I’ve worn this shade for years, but after when I ran out and just didn’t get around to rebuying it, I’m wondering if they’ve changed the shade or if I’m mistaken. It used to be a lovely dark brownish-red, but now its much lighter. I really should take it in and compare to a sample in the store.
