This is very similar to Mac Lady Bug lipstick, the only difference is that this one has small gold flecks but the flecks are very subtle, not noticable really. To me this is a sheer tomato / strawberry red that you can wear during the day without looking you are wearing too much makeup. Hot Tahiti, Ladybug and Cockney are my favorite day time reds from Mac that I wear with confidance. It fades beautifully on the lips. It has 2 cons, first one is that it tends to leak into fine lines around your lips , skip this lipstick and Ladybug if you have small fine lines around your lips and the second one is its parfume which I find a little too much. I think Mac lipsticks used to have less fragrance or maybe I got more sensitive to fragrance as I got older.

I feel that, rather than having different experiences from this product (e.g. skin reacting differently, personal colour matching, etc..), people like or dislike this lipstick basing on the same characteristics, so the reviewing work here is, aside describing the lipstick, trying and help you to understand if it’s what you’re looking for.
Description: one thing I learnt about lipsticks is “the sheerer the finish, the less relevant the shade”, so be content with “juicy red”, because this lipstick is borderline chapstick, picture an intense cherry chapstick, and while I’d put it in the warm category, it’s really too sheer on the lips to tell, and to matter (so green light for any undertone!). Just one thing: it doesn’t look ANYTHING like the picture here on MUA, that velvety pink red is the exact opposite of Cockney!
So what final look/effect are you looking for?
– 30s diva? Marylin Monroe? French girl with her statement red lips? You’ll find Cockney too bland, sheer and forgettable, and wonder how you could spend so much for such an inexpensive-looking toy-lipstick. Suggestions for you: Russian Red, Ruby Woo.
– Natural, no-makeup look? NO, why are you even here?? This is too glossy and too red to pass for natural lips. Suggestions for you: On Hold (my beloved HG)
– Fresh Snow White-y look? Just-bit-a-strawberry lips? “Youthful” lips? This is your lipstick, you found it! 🙂
– “Beginner-level” red to ease yourself in the world of the reds (which have always all looked way too loud and blaring on you)? You don’t need an “easy” red: you need a red, Cockney or whatever, and you need an easy situation where you can wear it as you build confidence (you might wear it when you go buying groceries); then, you might want to overall tone down the effect and counterbalance the red with neutral-coloured clothes and dishevelled hair.
My experience: I’m fair skin-toned, probably around nc15, and while this lipstick provides -again- a nice “innocent” red which doesn’t make me look like a toddler playing with mum’s makeup, I find it sort of “disrupts” the no-makeup look of the rest of the face, breaking the spell thanks to which the sheer veil of mineral powder looks like my skin. Plus, while I’d happily spend a little fortune for unique shades of the likes of Ruby Woo, I think this “little-more-than-chapstick” totally ordinary red is something I can find for a cheaper price

Jumping on the bandwagon! Reds have always been challenging for me, picking the right shade for my very light, warm undertoned, yet lots of red in it.. skin. I dye my hair medium auburn (real color is medium brown). I was trading in 6 empties this weekend and asked for help picking a red gloss/lippie for me. At first glance this “looks” way too cool in tone & dark but it goes on lighter/sheerer and I add a gloss on top. It looks great! Like another gal said it, it brightens up my face which is exactly what I wanted.I wear a brightening blush with this and I look “alive” and “fresh”. I wear my Half-Red lip liner with this, I use it lightly. MAC describes as a “sheer yellow red”…no wonder I can wear, “yellow” indicates “warm” & I need warm reds. I would definitely get this color again!

This is the lipstick that brought me back to wearing red. It’s a red you can live in, from work to play. It brightens my NC10 skin and looks fresh and appealing. Love, love, love it. Wears like a dream, moisturizing and soft. HG x 10.

No blue in Cockney! yay! This is a great red…not orange, not brown but no blue in there. I have ventured to the red lippie life and it’s impossible to find a great red that doesn’t lean toward turning purple on me in about 5 minutes…this one is a keeper. I’ve always loved Mac’s Lustres…they are sheer without being ‘gone in a second sheer’ this packs a punch but not overwhelming. With a tan it’s the perfect red..sophisticated yet a SoHo look to it. I suggest it.Mac’s Rhinna is close but has some glitter going on. I’m glad Mac decided to make this permanent!

Beautiful, comfortable red. Almost luminous but subtle and soft. A real find.

now im not a red lippy girl. but i wanted something vibrany but not too bold for an everyday lip. i have 2 red lippies from nyx raisin and chaos but theyre like vampy bold reds.
i have nc30 skin and natural plumish lips and i was looking at all the reds and most of them are the highly pigmented ones (meaning bold).
so the ma chose cockney for me. see im not a fan of lustre but for this one shade, it was love at first sight. i agree with the 2 reviewers below me, its a nice vibrant red but not too bold and its almost like a touch of red that you can wear everyday 🙂

This is a great colour, as you can build it up to a darker red or keep it natural with one coat. Looks great on my skin and is good for my dry lips. The colour doesn’t last forever but then not many lipsticks do. Will definitely buy again and may have to check out the other colours!
LOVE LOVE LOVE!

I was given cockney as a present. I thought ”Oh, well, pretty but it’s just another red lipstick” since I don’t do red lips often and already have- and LOVE- Ruby Woo.
Boy, was I wrong!
It looks bold and bright neutral to cool red with tiny gold flecks in the tube but on the lips goes on sheer at first.
Looks like melted strawberries- vibrant and juicy!
The gold flecks are not really noticeable, but they contribute to the overall glow. I find the glossy finish very beautiful- it’s a good alternative if you don’t like the sticky feeling of lip gloss like me. I consider it moisturizing too.
I have to confess I always wanted to be one of those women that wear red lipstick every day but since I’m pale it’s too in-your-face in my case. Not any more, though! For me it’s the perfect everyday red- noticeable, face- brightening but not over the top.
It’s also low maintenance, since it’s sheer it’s rather forgiving if you don’t achieve the perfect application unlike me beloved Ruby Woo who NEEDS perfect exfoliated lips, lip liner and precise application to look decent. I can reapply cockney even without a mirror!
Last but not least, the color is rather buildable, so you can get bold glossy red lips with a few more swipes.
The only reason I can’t give 5 lipsticks is cockney -like all lustres- wears off too quickly. But still, worth the trouble.
Love this one- it’s so unique!
Edit: Unfortunately I don’t think I would repurchase. I loved the result of this lipstick but not the longevity. I found that Dior Addict Extreme in Fireworks gives the same lovely sheer buildable red glossy effect (maybe a tinge warmer, without the flecks) with 5x lasting power. It’s more expensive but I think I’ll go with this one next time…

This is a really pretty red, not to dull and not to bright. It’s a great daytime color. It has very tiny flecks of gold but I don’t even notice.
