   I just picked this up in the shade Deep Plum Luster and so far, I really love it!
   First off, the color is GORGEOUS. I envision this becoming my HG Autumn plum lip color. Absolutely stunning.
   The formula is thin, but incredibly opaque. It takes quite a while to set, so it remains glossy for quite some time (another reviewer said ten minutes, and I’d have to agree), and when it does dry down, it is super long-wearing but still will transfer, so be cognizant of that when wearing it.
   I love that I can reapply over top if I need to without it fouling up the whole thing or making it look flaky or like plaster.
   I rather enjoy the applicator, though I’d be happier with a standard doe-foot. However, this longer paddle-shaped applicator does make one-swipe application easy. It’s just harder to get in all the tiny spots. I suppose for detailing, a lip brush is in order.
   Thinking of pairing this with my old plum lip pencil from Milani. The two are a near perfect match!
   Over all, I’m quite pleased with this lip color. It’s comfortable, weightless, and long-lasting without being drying. I’ll likely repurchase, possibly the magenta shade since it’s the perfect bright pink.

   I have this lip cream in the color Fig Luster which is a nice mauve. It looks great on my yellow undertoned skin. The cream is lightweight and super moisturizing yet dries to a matte finish. I like the applicator because it’s a flat doe tip so it’s very easy to line your lips and just turn it over flat to fill in the color. In short terms, love and will buy again.

   I really like these for what they are, particularly for the price price, but they’re not my absolute favorite lip product on the market.

   I picked up the shade “Cranberry” because I was craving a deep wine-red at the end of June even though we were firmly in the summer months, a time of orange- and watermelon-red shades. What can I say, sometimes I love shades like MAC’s Lady Danger in the winter and rich plums like Rebel in the summer. There’s a hint of shimmer in Cranberry but nothing garishly frosty. The color is quite deep and dark with a little bit of plum to make it an excellent fall shade. At the same time, it doesn’t lean un-wearably purple, like many plums can be on my NC35-40 skin tone. The color is incredibly pigmented with full, tube-color saturation in one stroke.

   Upon first application the lip color appears quite glossy. In fact, the “matte” finish really doesn’t start to occur until a good 10 minutes later, once the product has dried down. On one hand, the long dry time is a pain if you’d like to be good to go quickly. On the other hand, given how wonky the wand is, it’s nice to have that extra time to fix your application before it sets. If you’re someone who wants the product to be matte right out of the tube or at least moments after application, you may want to pass on these or look at the Stila Stay All Day lipsticks which dry down within a minute or two.

   The applicator on these puppies is the worst part about the product, and my only real source of complaint. It’s a long paddle-brush shaped wand with no real pointy end which can make precise application almost impossible. I found myself struggling to fill in the corners of my mouth as well as my cupid’s bow without making a serious mess. In fact, I spent almost as much time applying the product as I did cleaning up the places where the applicator had awkwardly deposited color outside of my lips’ edges. Thankfully, as I alluded to earlier, you don’t have to work very quickly with this product since the drying time is quite long. Ultimately, it may be worth it to apply some to the back of your hand and then use a lip brush for easier application given how terrible the wand is.

   With that said, the wear time is phenomenal. What I like most about them unlike the aformentioned Stila liquid lipsticks is that they wear off uniformly. After eating a meal, my lips were still cranberry red, just slightly lighter in tone than how they looked immediately after application. In fact I think I like the color it fades into more than I like the initial look. Hee. Stila’s liquid lipsticks on the other hand wear off completely at the center of my lips while everything else remains looking fresh, giving me an awkward ring around the edges of my lips before I reapply. Not a super cute look, if I do say so myself. I imagine Sephora’s Luster Mattes would be great to wear for a dinner party where you can do plenty of eating and drinking without feeling a desperate urge to flee to the bathroom and reapply once the empty plates are taken away. Reapplication doesn’t ruin the first layer either, a new coat doesn’t grab onto the previous coats badly.

   They feel neither hydrating OR drying on me which, in my books is a plus, since 95% of lipsticks turn my lips into raisins. At the same time, I wouldn’t apply these to dry, flakey lips either since lip imperfections like that will start to show once the product does dry. I find the color range slightly lacking, not much nuance to the shades and lots of broad interpretations of colors but that seems to be par for the course with these sorts of brands. I’d love to see a peachy nude, a warmer pink, or a coral that wasn’t so white-based. All in all, I like the product quite a bit, but I just wish they would repackage it with a better applicator.
