#6 Barely There – An excellent MLBB! On me, it’s a mauvish, brownish, grayish romantic shade tinted with rose that is really special. I’m pale with a touch of yellow and MLBB’s can end up orange or too pale, making my teeth look yellow, but not this colour! Creamy, semi-opaque and with a hint of shine. Feels a tich slippery. I use it to layer on top of a tiny amount L’Oreal Bold Mauve with MAC Stone liner and my lips look really juicy. An effect I don’t get with other long wearing products. Alone, I think it comes out a touch gray, but I love it for layering over a rosy or brown lipliner. Has to be reapplied after eating but leaves a cast so it doesn’t disappear completely. I like it. Excellent value for the money.

Essence is another new brand that I am trying out. I just placed my first order and in there was a tube of Barely There. Overall I really like this, it’s a mauvey rosey pink color but for me offers a nice hint of pink without it being too much. I like pink lip colors but they are hard for me to pull off, and many make my teeth look yellow. This one is really nice and is my go to pink right now. My small lip product collect consists of mostly nudes but this is nice for something different. The name suits it well, it’s a color that you may need to build up a little bit to get a ton of color but that works in my favor.
The color reminds me of NYX Butter lipstick in the shade Root Beer Float/Pops, which was a favorite of mine for a while, but I like this one a little better. It’s not quite as pink which works better for me actually. The formula is nice too, it feels comfortable but not sticky or heavy.
At $3 this is a great bargain, I rate 4 and a half stars and would definitely pick this up again. Nice job Essence!

It’s so weird..I bought this color based on pictures I saw of it on people’s lips…most were and almost brown pinky nude. On me it’s mauve..dusty purplish mauve. I have to assume it’s because my lips are cool toned (like my skin) and so this IS a MLBB for me but MLBB for me is not pink it’s mauve…weird. But, I like this formula of lipstick. It’s classic and feels good on the skin. A+

Wow! This shade really surprised me.
I swatched this in-store (yeah, I did) and the color looked more light pink but for the $2.99 price, I thought it was cheap enough to go for and would be subtle enough to get by with.
When I applied it on my lips at home – I was reminded that I have pale lips. It looks much darker pink brown on my lips than pastel pink, which is what it looked like in-store.
This is a good thing. I really love this color. It’s probably one of the first subtle pinks I have that I think I can swipe on and just go (without it looking too pink and needing to gloss it down). I would definitely buy another if I run out. Very flattering and neutral color all in one.

This is a pinky brown (occasionally mauve looking) nude colour that matches my lips perfectly. I find the lipstick creamy on the lips and can be applied without a mirror with its easy application. It does have a slight crayon smell but it doesn’t affect the taste. It did come off with food and drink fairly easily. I’ve heard this is a dupe for mac velvet teddy. I probably won’t be buying this again, while it is fairly nice, I want to try out other brands.

As always, I like the formula – creamy, smooth, and emollient. It feels great on. Once again though, Essence has chosen a poor name. This one isnt barely there in me, it’s a medium toned brown with plummy tones.
With my pale yellow/olive skin, dark hair, and blue eyes, I always feel that brown lipstick makes me look a bit ill. And…I can’t say I don’t feel the same way about this shade – not my favorite and I won’t repurchase. I need more pink tones in the mix.
If you need a MLBB that is a bit pinker and a shade lighter, try Essence’s Cool Nude – it is spectacular.
I graduated in the ’90s…and I’m pretty sure I’ve seen similar colors to this lipstick shade before. I did my brown lippie duty back them…but I don’t feel obligated to do it anymore ;).

I love this lipstick! It is my everyday color, and it works perfectly for my olive skin. It is very pigmented, and although it does not last very long, reapplying isnt too much of a hassle. It feels very light on the lips and it is not drying at all. It is extremely affordable and if you live in Canada, I find that essence cosmetics goes on sale at shoppers drug mart every few weeks or so! Worth checking out for sure!

I love love love it. I am still trying to figure out what skin tone I am (I am a medium olive / tan color – latin background although that doesn´t help since we come in different shades!) but I think it goes well with me, especially if I line my lips with either a nude lip liner or a a bit darker shade to my lips are a bit more defined.
I also purchased 03 come naturally, but have been making more use of Barely There. I am also going to purchase Cool Nude, just not sure if it is more for fair skinned…hmmm.
Overally, the lipsticks from Essence are great and super cheap!!

this was a mlbb for me and I used it to the end. I am sad its done; it was my easy no brainer go to. not super long lasting but creamy and nice coverage.

Tastes and smells horrible, crumbles on the lips and is not very pigmented. The packaging is cheap and it does not last long on the lips.
