Pumpkin Spice is described as a “rustic copper pearl with warm golden reflects”. Against my skin tone, it is a dark copper that pulls a little red. The golden shimmer is there but not overly glittery, more reflective than sparkly. I sometimes pat a gold shadow over the top to amp up the golden shimmer, which looks very nice. This is a unique colour that I do not have anywhere else in my collection.
I have said in other reviews that I think the formula for Sugarpill’s liquid lipsticks changes depending on which shade you pick up. Pumpkin Spice’s formula is closer to Trinket than Kim Chi, which I like. It dries down to matte quickly, doesn’t smear or bleed outside of the lip line, and doesn’t wear away on the inner rim of the lips. It is slightly more drying than Trinket, but it is still quite a comfortable LL. I recommend Sugarpill’s LL to people who want to try a matte finish but have dry lips.
It has a pumpkin spice scent that is quite strong in the tube and when first applied, but it dies down once it dries. I can’t comment on potential skin irritants in the formula, but people with sensitive noses may find the scent a little overbearing at first.
The applicator is nice – it is very similar to the Makeup Monsters applicator. it is doe foot style with a small dip in the middle of the foot that can hold a tiny pool of product (so you don’t need to dip it back into the tube to get enough). It doesn’t fray and you can get a crisp line with it. It is a standard size.
My only complaint about the packaging is that the logo on the tube wears away very quickly. I cover mine with clear nail polish to keep it looking new.
I really like the colour of this product, and despite it being slightly drying I think it is a very comfortable matte with good lasting power!
