I have a million lipsticks looking for the perfect color and formula!! A friend gave me this and I am obsessed!!! It’s creamy but long wearing. Not too matte or too shiny it’s just perfect. The color is perfect for day or night and I will definitely be buying this again.

If you’re fair/cool toned & want a nude that is almost a greige, then you’ll love this. It’s not fully opaque, it’s like a highly pigmented sheer. I think if you’re darker or warm toned that you may prefer a warm nude lip liner with it.

This is an indeed interesting and unique shade. I can see how others described it as nude-beige with a hint of lavender.
On my NW15 skin, it’s almost *too* nude for me–the color makes me look like a corpse. I do like that it’s a very cool nude–those can be hard to find. It definitely has a blueish or lavender cast to it.
That said, I like the texture. It’s not drying and lasts about 2-3 hours, which isn’t bad for a l/s. It has the classic MAC scent and I like the packaging; what you see on the tube is pretty spot-on for the color in the tube.
The reason I gave this a 4/5 despite it not being the best color for me is because the formula is good and the packaging is also good. It’s really just my skintone that doesn’t work with it. I can see how it would be great for others looking for a cooler nude, and possibly HG material. This is one to try before you buy.

Would definitely repurchase! I love this shade. It is a nude for my light skin tone but with a slight twist. It is a lavender, which keeps it from pulling orange or brown like a lot of “nude” lipsticks do on me, but neither is it gray, taupe, or dead looking. It seems to have just enough pink in it to rescue it from the “dead” category without becoming a bright pink Barbie shade. I used to shy away from purple toned lipsticks because they were either too bright or turned dark brown on me, but Driftwood is changing my perspective. It’s so easy to wear. I am very fair complected so I can’t say what it would do on someone of a medium or deep complexion.
The texture is a little firm with a bit of drag during application, but nothing crazy in my opinion. It applies smoothly for me and seems to soften just a little while being applied, but it is a “thick” formula so it won’t go on like butter. Once it’s on, I feel a slight slip on my lips (but not much), so it’s not going to dry down like a liquid lipstick and isn’t 100% matte, just 90 to 95% matte. This makes for a somewhat long lasting and non-drying wear, but it does transfer easily and will not make it through anything more than light drinking and snacking. Putting a long wearing lip liner underneath does help the wear. I find it comfortable, not sticky, nothing that flakes off or wears off in patches.
The packaging is just okay. Perfectly functional and nice that you can see what color the lipstick is by the color of the container but nothing mindblowing.

A very beautiful colour – a good neutral with a difference. An unique and flattering colour that I would say works for all skin tones.

Not perfect – but pretty great!
I’m very pale skinned with dark hair and very pigmented lips. Anything even slightly dark lip wise on me can look very strong, so I was looking for a nice ‘my lips but better’ daytime look.
Firstly the best things about this lippie:
– the colour is fantastic, really unusual nude ish but with a slight purple/slight grey tone without looking over made up or too obvious. Love it on me for daytime, and paired with different lip liners for darkening up or brightening up when needed
– I love matt lipsticks, and this gives a lovely matt finish without drying out my lips.
– the formula is really interesting for a bullet lipstick. I’ve been into liquid lipsticks for a while for their staying power, and for not transferring onto everything (mugs, glasses, husband etc). It isn’t quite in that league but it’s the best equivalent I’ve found in a bullet lipstick. You can feel it on but it’s light weight and feels nice on and transfers very little.
So on to the negatives – not really bad just more ‘ok’ and what stops it being perfect:
– it lasts ‘ok’, bullet lipsticks don’t last long on me and this isn’t really any exception. Maybe lasts a little longer on me than a normal mac lipstick but nothing amazing. I’ve been spoilt by good liquid lipsticks and it’s not in that league staying power wise. It does fade off evenly and nicely though which is good
– the packaging is ok, feels sturdy and in your hand feels good quality but doesn’t look anything special, and probably looks cheaper than it is. I do like that you can tell which shade it is from the packaging, which has it’s practicalities but just not that pretty
So in short great product – love the colour in particular and formula but would prefer a lttile more staying power….

MAC lipsticks are overall great quality. Definitely my favourite formulation by far and most consistent too. The new Liptensity lipstics are even more creamy and longer lasting than the original ones. Great pigmentation and last longer. Only downfall is the price.

I ended up returning this lipstick. It was my one and only liptensity purchase. I picked it because of the unique color. Unfortunately it made me look dead on my nc30 skin. Pulled too grey. Also to get the product to transfer to my lips I had to press REALLY hard. There was no slip to this lipstick. I don’t know if I got a bad one or what, but I was very disappointed.

Driftwood is a beautiful pink greyed mauve. It applies not too opaque and heavy, but evenly and smooth with plenty of pigmentation. It reminds me of smoother, glossier version of Urban Decay Oblivion. Urban Decay Backtalk is a warmer, pinker mauve compared to Driftwood. There is definitely room in your collection for both. Bite’s Thistle is a cooler, harder to pull off but still in that greyed mauve category. For me Driftwood was one of the standouts from the Liptensity collection. While there are tons of beautiful shades in the collection and the lipsticks feel great, it was Driftwood that stood out and kept calling to me. I am nw20, deep winter, almost black hair, brown eyes, who has a tendency to pull out orange/brown in shades from any shade that has it…in a bad way.
As far as the formula, it feels very nice and smooth, very comfortable and easy.
