I’ve had this for a long time (not long enough to throw out though) but I really like it.
It’s like Clinique Black Honey, but concentrated (which makes it more versatile). So that’s how I see it, a black honey concentrate from which to extract a bit at a time, and dilute with balm or gloss.
.
If you want the Black Honey effect, you simply dab this on top of balm, and then blot off as you want. That’s the main way I wear it.
.
It emphasizes the mouth without making any particular colour statement, it’s a dark
neutral but for lips instead of eyes. I wouldn’t call it red, brown, or burgundy, it’s just a perfect blend.
.
This is also much less drying than doing that with lipliner+balm would be. I usually found with the Clinique my lips shriveled like prunes, it wasn’t moisturizing at all, despite the balm formula– with this that isn’t the case, even applied full strength.
.For blush, maybe softer lighter colours (like Tarte Paaaarty which I got a mini off and seem not to run out of, or The Balm Hot Mama). I’ve also tried it with Stila’s Petunia (I don’t have Lillium, but that would be better imo).
I’m sure shades like MAC Blushbaby or Desert Rose would work well too. I don’t know what other skintones would do for blush, but I’m about NC40-42.
.
It would look good on most people, I think, as you can sheer it out (makes it last longer than Black Honey, which you have to pile on and even then you have to reapply throughout the day). It is also great for darkening lipsticks, etc.
.
Paramount is:
a great mixing colour,
great on its own,
great sheered out for a tint.
It would look good on all kinds of skin tones, I think.
Also, all ages. I have seen elderly women in this type of shade and they look gorgeous, same with young and middle-ages people.
.
Even men, I’m sure, if any wear makeup and, are on here, you wouldn’t look bad in this. I also love dark lipstick on thin lips, contrary to what magazines say, the right formula can work, so that too, anyone basically.
I doubt I will run out before it goes bad, as so little is used, but for sure this would be something to repurchase if it comes to that.

This is my current favourite lipstick, after long analysis of how much I like the others when I’m using them. I realized that even though I thought it was dark, I hate lighter and brighter shades. When I wear it I feel perfected and timeless and it doesn’t look stupid or wear off immediately. I don’t get that vibe with any of my coral, pink, red, or brown shades. This fantastic brick red/brown shade has literally nothing wrong with it and there is NO dupe for it. I’ve tried. The only thing I would like is to find a lipstick one shade lighter, but with the exact same ratio of red to brown. All other lipsticks are either too red, too brown, or ruin it with purple. This has no purple so it is not a vamp shade. Of course there are a few other lipsticks I will put on for fun on a whim but this is the best thing I have! Using other lipsticks makes me appreciate this one even more.
Update Jan 4/19: I am still rocking this shade. Even when I don’t put on full makeup I wear lipstick and this is the one I chose when I traded in my 6 MAC cases for recycling. I still kept the almost empty one and will use it all up with my lip brush. The new one I carry in my purse.
This shade is unusual in that it looks fabulous in the mirror and to people who see me, but looks too dark in photos. I just don’t care because I feel like a million dollars when I wear it.

As the previous reviewers have stated, this is a very easy-to-wear, brown-red. This shade can flatter anyone, especially when used with a light hand. My favorite way to apply this is over the MAC Prep + Prime lip primer. The color is fantastic, long lasting and it doesn’t settle into fine lines with this application. Highly recommend.

I love this color for autumn, such a pretty warm toned red brown. Unlike most lipsticks it doesn’t turn fuchsia or orange on my lips and it can be sheered out to a stain or layered up for a more dramatic effect. Long lasting throughout the day, a tiny bit drying but nothing a thin layer of lip balm under won’t remedy. UPDATE: Lowered by score slightly because I have found that something about the formula causes pimples along my lip line, which is very frustrating as its such a great color!

This is a beautiful cool red-brown shade. It goes on smoothly and it was my go-to for a long time. I used Paramount for daytime and MAC Film Noir for when I wanted something a little more dramatic.
I stopped using it when I found out that MAC, a company that has always been cruelty-free, is now funding animal testing so they can market in China. Additionally, their website has become an unusable beast if you don’t have a very fast internet connection. It’s worse than Myspace ca. 2009 or so.
But the lipstick itself is great, and it’s inexpensive enough that you can use it all the time with no worries. I do want to be fair and say that I really, really liked this lipstick. I just wish they would go cruelty-free again. I would be happy to purchase MAC products again if they do that.

This is the perfect brown/red shade for me! I pair it with MAC Chesnut lip liner in order for it to become even darker and sometimes, I wear the lipstick on its own. It’s highly pigmented and the staying power is really good.
I find that I wear this colour mostly in the autumn/winter and nights out.
It’s a beautiful shade and I would definitely repurchase again 🙂

I like paramount , del rio and vg III but if I had to choose one id pick paramount they are all very similar paramount being the darkest of the three I find it unique and a nice color its more brown than anything maybe a hint of burgandy but for the most part a nice crisp brown for fall n winter thatI think looks good on all skin tones.

I am porcelain. as. heck. n3, with black hair. Ooph. A winged liner in my go to with bold, arched brows – always. I was looking for a cooler, deep browny red lipstick. Then I stumbled across Paramount and memories (while still very recent) of Daria and Hole flooded my noggin. This lipstick is very 90s in the best way possible. Bold. Creamy/non drying. Applies beautifully and is long lasting. Scrub those lips first, line with Current liner (also by MAC) and you’ll be set. I apply Cubic blush and Malt e/s. I use NYXs Milk jumbo pencil to highlight my Cupid’s bow ever so slightly. Try it out in store. My best tip is, if you can’t do a quick lip scrub in store, kindly ask to apply their pinky purple brush cleaner to the lips with a qtip. I know the alcohol in it is gnarly for the lips, but it’s a quick fix to clean & dry the lips effectively.

This is my go-to lipstick–it’s always in my purse. I have light/medium skin tone with dark brown eyes and dark brown hair. This can be put on directly for a dramatic look or blotted for a nice stained look. It has good staying power but I extend that by putting it over a nude lip liner (Wet n Wild #712).
Matte finish, smells/tastes good, lots of pigment.

This color takes me back. That perfect brown/red from the 1990s. I have dark blonde hair and fair skin with green eyes and this color is a great neutral. I can vary the color intensity by using a lip brush or applying right from the tube. I use a red lip liner under to bring our the red or no lip liner at all if I was a nice brown tone.
The wear time is great like all the Satin finishes. And it does not dry my lips out.
If you re looking for a brown that won’t wash you out or need a bit of red in your brown this is the color for you.
