True, these lipsticks are by no means luxurious, but I consider them a good inexpensive basic “no-frills”
lipstick, ideal for those who want lots of shades on hand but don’t want to annihilate their bank account.
And Colourpop is cruelty-free, which is very important to me.
I have at least half a dozen Lippie Stix and my most used shades are “Trust Me,” a bright true red, and “Heart On,” a bright clear pink with a hint of purple. Both provide opaque, smooth coverage, and last admirably for a product that’s not billed as long-wearing.
Most Lippie Stix seem to have a matte or satin finish; they can feel a bit dry, but a drop of gloss on top helps with that, while compromising the wear only slightly.
At only $6.00 USD, Lippie Stix are a great “staple” lipstick for those just starting out with makeup, or those who want lots of color choices without breaking the bank.

These are overhyped lipsticks. The shades are flat, with no depth or shimmer and they are so DRYING! Maybe they would work on younger lips or someone who falls for the hype and doesn’t know about better lipsticks.

I have this in Lumiere, which is described as “matte dusty mauve pink.” ColourPop is notorious for not photographing their lip products accurately, but this product is fairly accurate in picture and description. It pulls a bit more cool and lavender on me (NW10) than it shows on my computer screen, but I expected that based on internet swatch photos.
As described, this is a matte lipstick. However, it is not drying. The lipstick applies creamy, doesn’t pull at the lips while being applied, or sink into lip lines throughout the day (and this is applied on bare lips).
It’s $6 for 1.0 oz, which isn’t much product, but considering I never finish a lipstick, I’d rather buy a small amount of lipstick for a few bucks than more lipstick for $20 (or more).
I highly recommend brand this line and color. My only word of caution is to search online for swatches of the color since ColourPop’s swatches are typically inaccurate (and there is no return if bought online).

Lippie Stix come in three finishes: matte, matte x, and creme. My favorite of the three is matte— this formulation is one of my all-time favorite lipsticks. I think it’s right up there with NARS’ semi-matte formula, which I’ve worn for years. NARS’ wear time is a little better, but Lippie Stix are less drying, more comfortable to wear, and pill less. Matte Lippie Stix are actually somewhat hydrating, yet they transfer minimally and don’t bleed at all. 5 stars for the lush and longwear *matte finish*.
Runner-up in the Lippie Stix category, for me, is the matte x formulation. It doesn’t feel quite as plush as matte [regular], but rather has a thin, lightweight texture, and a nice slip to it that is unexpected in an ultra-matte finish. However, when I purchase an ultra-matte formula I expect an increased wear time, and matte x didn’t deliver on that at all when compared to the regular matte formula. It in fact faded rather quickly. 3 stars for the slippery *matte x finish*.
Third best in show goes to the creme finish. It’s not a product that I plan to buy again, mostly because I found it to transfer badly, far more so than Colourpop’s creme lipsticks in other formulations like Creme Lux. I feel like it sits atop the lips without ever sinking in at all, so it’s a constant smudge risk. It’s comfortable to wear, though, and of course non-drying. But I feel that the regular matte formula offers these benefits as well, plus significant improvements in wear time and transfer resistance. 2 stars for the high-maintenance *creme finish*.
Price-wise, these aren’t quite as much of a bargain as they appear at a glance. Colourpop doesn’t put very much product in the tube. If you want to try a bunch of colors, this may not matter to you, but if you’re a minimalist who just keeps a few signature shades around I think it’s worth noting that this product gives just 1.0g for $6. Compare that to a NARS lipstick, which is 3.4g for $28— that’s $6 per gram (CP) versus $8 per gram (NARS), probably less value than a lot of people think they’re getting when they order Colourpop. Lippie Stix (the matte ones, at least) work well for me, so I don’t mind.
The Lippie Stix shade range is focused on pinks, reds, browns, and nudes for all skin tones. I can only speak to what did and didn’t work for me: I enthusiastically recommend “Brink” (“matte terracotta rose”) as a deep nude for people with light to medium skin. It has a matching lippie pencil too. I found “Parker” (“matte mid-tone warm nude”) to pull brownish on my yellow-toned skin, thus making it somewhat dulling, although in the tube it looks like a perfect everyday color. “Oh Snap” (“matte muted pinky nude”) reminds me of a pale-lipped 60s mod look, but I think its mauvey cast would be more flattering on someone fairer and cooler-toned. “At Twilight” (“warm muted coral in creme finish”) is a beautiful peachy-coral color that looks lovely on warm skin tones; it also really brings out blue eyes. And “Trust Me” (“matte x vivid true red”) is a classic red shade that quickly fades to a bright pink, which I found to pull cool and to probably be best suited to people on the lighter end of the spectrum.

My favorite lipstick formula,at least one of them.I’ve got this in 5 shades and I love Cookie with my fair neutral skin.Cookie is my all time favorite lipstick.The texture is pretty thick and when I apply it on my lips I pat the out lines so there’s not a straight line.It’s also creamy and very pigmented lipstick.I think I might have it only in matte shades,so don’t know about the shimmer ones 🙂

Aquarius: warm beige pink nude. I love this on top of other lipsticks. This lippiestix can lighten and transform any lip colour into a nude shade without changing the undertones of the lipstick underneath. It’s the best lip top coat. I want to repurchase it. It has a gel-creme finish that is a bit glossy, super pigmented and has no significant scent. Great shade from the youtuber Kathleenlights!
Cami: is a close dupe for Anita by Nars in terms of colour. I don’t love the fake chemical vanilla scent. The finish is super matte (matte X)yet comfortable. The colour is beautiful, a medium brownish pink. It stains the lips and it’s quite long lasting.
Contempo: has a matte comfortable finish so does Lumiere (matte)but it changes colour on my lips after some hours of applying it, turning from a neutral mauvey pink into a bright fucshia. Lumiere is a cool toned rose mauve but it wasn’t flattering on my skin tone (NC20). Both stain the lips but Contempo leaves a fuchsia stain behind as it wears off.
I highly recommend Cami and Aquarius.

Tried 2 different colours and had a horrible demarcation line after about 5 minutes with both so I won’t personally purchase again, however I love Colourpop and think other people have had better luck with these lippie stix (my lips are dry so thinking that doesn’t help?)

I bought the shades “brink” and “love life”, and I’m in love. “Love life” is a matte yet not drying red lipstick which feels so smooth on the lips. “Brink” is pink and has a more satin finish. The packaging is good, except the fact that one of the lippie stix didn’t want to screw up at first, but it all went well. Can’t wait to start using these more often!

For the $5, this is definitely worth it. I have brink in the matte formula and it looks very pretty on. It’s not the most moisturizing lipstick, but my dry lips still feel comfortable when I wear this (even in the dead of winter). They last pretty well for a regular lipstick – I don’t need to touch up after drinking but I do after eating (not that I expected it to last through a meal). It also seems to fade evenly so no weird patchiness in between touch ups either. I also prefer this more precise pencil shape versus the classic bullet. I realize you get less product but I have never, in my entire life, finished up a full bullet lipstick, so this doesn’t bother me at all (especially after you consider the price).
I picked up a few during the recent colourpop sale (along with their eye shadow palettes, which I also like by the way), which they seem to have fairly frequently throughout the year. For the price, I’m really impressed with the formula and pigmentation. I do think the colour swatches online look a touch lighter than in real life, possibly due to studio lighting etc. So something to keep in mind when ordering.
The only thing I don’t like about this is the scent. It’s quite strong in my opinion, but it doesn’t linger for long (only when I apply the product and shortly thereafter). It smells like plastic + vanilla. So it’s a sweet odd smell that I really could just do without.
Would definitely recommend. Love that they’re cruelty free and affordable.

I bought the six piece lippie stix “over brunch” and am quite disappointed. Only one of them has a reddish tint. The other five are in the brownish/taupe color family and barely distinguishable. This is a blah product. Won’t purchase again.
