Lip Chic is all I ever wear now. Too old for lipstick unfortunately. Can’t tolerate the drying effect, and the color seeps into those vertical craters above my lips. Sigh. At $36, this is ridiculously expensive, but I keep buying it because it is perfect. I consider it more of a tinted gloss than a lipstick, which allows some color. No color is not my cup of tea. It seems to be moisturizing; at any rate, doesn’t dry out my lips. Doesn’t cake up, and stays on for a while. Not goopy or too shiny. I don’t care how old you are; I think that excessively shiny lip gloss is soooo gross. Tube is great, never stops staying together, and is small enough to slip into a pocket. Color is a brownish rose.

This is my 3rd Lip Chic and possibly my favorite. I am NC30ish with very pigmented, mauve lips. Calla Lily is a gorgeous warm brick red which fades to a reddened pink over time. Calla Lily has that same moisturizing formula that Lip Chics are known for. It glides on very smoothly and one swipe delivers enough pigmentation, but you can build intensity with more layers. One application lasts approximately 3-4 hours, which is about as good as it gets for me. The finish is shiny but not overly glossy and looks professional at the office despite the initial intensity (probably because it fades to that reddened pink I mentioned above). I would highly recommend this for NC25 and darker complexions. And since it can be sheerly applied, it would be great for lighter complexions, as well. It is a truly unique and beautiful shade.
One warning, though: Since these have very soft texture, it is recommended that these not be kept in your pockets because body warmth might make your Lip Chic so soft that it breaks. Also, don’t dial it up very high, either, just to keep it more stable. The soft texture of these is a bit of an inconvenience but I’ll put up with that because of how moisturizing the formula is. I would definitely re-purchase!

My mother has this lipstick. She says it’s the best one she’s ever owned, and she has been owning lipsticks since the 1980s. Unlike the others, though, this one is light and glossy. And although it feels like a balm, it is not completely sheer. It is more of a glossy lipstick than a tinted lip balm.
As for the color itself, Calla Lily is a warm brick red that looks very natural on my mother. I think it would look good on all skin tones, actually, because it leans neither brown nor purple. It is deep without being dark, somehow.
The packaging is absolutely beautiful, and the ingredients are safe. In fact, this would have the perfect product if it wasn’t so expensive. The usual lipstick is four grams; this is only two, and it costs thirty dollars. So just imagine your everyday lipstick costing sixty dollars. It’s possible to achieve the same look with less costly products (like Revlon’s dupe of the chubby sticks), so neither my mother nor I will repurchase.

Lip-plumping, luscious formula. Hydrating and extremely comfortable to wear. Marketed as ‘brick red’. But in reality, more of a deep rose red, which then fades to a warm rose. Either way, a subtle yet polished face brightener is achieved.
