Scored this on a sale and it’s a silky, almost powdery feeling lipstick in a faceted bullet and very very heavy metal tube. The color is TOMATO RED. Will slightly yellow your tooth color. Lasts but feels weightless. Supposedly flatters every skin tone, yes it works. It’s a bright red but not insane to the point you feel, everyone is staring at you. So it can go casual to LBD.

I got this lipstick as part of a Tatcha mini lipstick haul. I like it (for formal evenings only) because it is a definite statement red. I wouldn’t wear it for daytime. It lasts a long time, which is why I would like it for the evening. I think it would last me a long time, which is why I don’t forsee buying a full size any time in the future.

I have purchased many Japanese cosmetics but this one is the BEST of the BEST. I have never seen or felt a more emollient lipstick and I have been wearing them since I was sixteen and I’m 61 now. I had been to Japan and noticed that all the women wore the same luxurious lipstick AND the SAME color and it worked for ALL of them. I found that to be amazing that a whole country could be satisfied by the SAME COLOR but not by the same product since Tacha had just come out a few years prior with their skin care line. I also bought the Tacha entry level skin care line which was absolutely lovely and not at all tiny samples but nice big bouncing “babies” of lovely U shaped crisp WHITE containers that made the products look clear and cleaner than their American counterpart and even came in a rice paper white box that went with the U shaped white jars. I am in love with the skin care line as well as the lipstick but I will try to stay on track for a change and keep my story of seeing the lipstick on nearly all the women from Geishas, who work in the Colgate Palmolive House, where we went every night after dinner to be “taken care of” by their Geishas that worked full time for my Sister’s company where she was a CEO of Marketing and Sales for both North & South America and was in Tokyo as a guest at their worldwide four day/night Convention. I was told not to talk to the Geishas but I did ask about their lipsticks and they basically told me that the Kyoto Red color worked for not only them but even all Americans. To that I was shocked and looked for a really creamy luxurious brand and that’s when I found Tacha while I was there so I bought my set of beautiful skin care trial line plus the piece du resistance my lipstick, Kyoto Red by Tacha. And I went back to our hotel room/Ryokon to be yelled out by my sister for “….spending my money on something as STUPID as makeup, when I could have bought a beautiful woven basket and/or lovely vase of handmade clay; the two most well respected art forms from Japan,” which I just didn’t see how i would wear them home or pack them in my carry on bag, even though my sister’s company pays her well by the selling of their skin care line and, yep you guessed it; makeup, lots and lots of make up of dubious quality which she really has no interest in using on herself! But I love makeup and skincare products because I am proud to have skin that’s 60 look like it’s 46, and when made up I look even younger. So take that Sis! Anyway since coming home from Japan I have let several of my friends try my Kyoto Red and they look just as good in it as I do. Anything named Kyoto has to be great because it’s one of the most beautiful cities in the world! I love the three famous gardens there and will return again and again to see the gardens. Put Kyoto in your bucket list and easily Tachi’s Kyoto Red in your bucket list, which you can do right now.
