I purchased this online, and returned it. Granted, it was a pretty pinkish red shade, very balmy and thick in formula, pretty long lasting, too. I wanted it to be a true red, but it wasn’t. Today I shopped my stash, and chose Wet n Wild balm stain in
Red-Dy or Not. Guess what? It’s a great dupe. With 2 coats, it is redder and is long lasting. Doesn’t have the slippery, thick feeling of the MAC Huggable, and costs less than $4.

This lipstick is great! It’s very hydrating and has a wonderful finish. The color is somewhat sheer, but also very pigmented, perfect for daytime/work wear. It has a surprisingly long wear time. In an entire day at work, I only have to touch it up once after lunch. I can drink tea and water with very little transfer and almost no loss of color. The formula is very thick, which is why it kind of “sticks” to the lips wherever you apply it. This lipstick is a must for someone that wishes their lip balm and their red lipstick could have a baby. The color is a true red, and it doesn’t pull orange on me at all. I hope they make more colors in this line, because I would buy more of these in a heartbeat!
Also, for people who have issues with other Mac lipsticks, this is a perfect alternative. I can’t wear their regular line of lipstick because I am allergic to something in it. I have no problems with this line and I wish I had given it a try a long time ago!

BUY THIS NOW!!! I was at the MAC counter yesterday (picking up an eye shadow that is being discontinued) and “just took a look” at the new Huggable lip colours, which had only just been put on display (so they were beautiful and pristine). One swatch of the colour Red Necessity (and the information that these are Limited Edition) and I was asking her to add it to my bag. What a fabulous colour and formula. It’s a sheer true red (not orange or purple leaning) and the somewhat sheerer texture keeps it from being overpowering. If the feel of this one is typical of all the Huggable lipsticks, I will be buying more because these feel very silky and hydrating but they also wear surprisingly well. I’m for sure getting a back up of this colour because it’s just perfect for me on all counts. I seriously wish these weren’t LE because they are more than worthy of being part of the permanent line.
OCTOBER 2015: I just got an email telling me that MAC has finally seen the wisdom in making at least some of the Huggable Lipcolours permanent and RED NECESSITY is one of them. I am so happy – this is a great lipstick formula and Red Necessity is aptly named – this shade IS a necessity for many women!
