I would have given this 3 lipsticks but deducted one due to complete misrepresentation of shades in the swatches on the CT website, which cannot be accounted for merely by “monitor settings”. In fact, there are a couple of pictures of the shade I bought “Dolly Bird” which are vastly different (on the same page). But both of them show a high amount of pink in this shade. I purchased because I thought that either of those shades would be fine with me due to the amount of pink (even though one was darker/brighter). I can wear lighter shades as long as they lean toward pink or red. So when I received it, the pink in this shade was negligible. Especially once on the lips. It looks very colourful on the site, but it turned out PALER on my lips, GREYER, and more brown and dull. I didn’t want to throw it away because of the amount I spent, so am trying to use it up on days when no one will see me (yeah, absurd I know – the psychology of “getting my money’s worth of usage). And none of my friends wanted it. So when I want to look boring and dull and washed out, I will whip out this little gem. Like all the other CT lippies I bought in the same purchase. Lesson learned. Never buy online unless you have seen the shade in real life. Since I’m in Australia, I can’t see the shades in real life and thought I would have to take the risk. No. Don’t take the risk. You don’t need this. There are plenty of other lip products out there you can see and touch in real life, which are just as good. I will say that this has a bit of staying power, without being TOO drying (it is a little bit). But it’s really nothing special. Not to me anyway. Maybe if it had been the right colour I could have ignored some of it’s shortcomings, like it’s unamazingness and exorbitant pricing. Maybe I could give my CT lippies to the local undertaker’s cosmetician, for clients who want the “natural death look”. If you want to waste money and look ugly, pick up this greyish nude today.

I got a small one of these in Too Bad I’m Bad from Sephora and it’s lovely, but not worth the price. Comparable to the Nyx cream mattes.

Awful. I’m a fan of several of her products and have been wanting to try her lipsticks. I purchased 2 of the Hollywood Lips. The colors are beautiful but the formula is awful as other reviewers have noted. It is very drying and leaves a ring of color on the edges of your lips after an hour. The formula is patchy and chalky. Basically it is like an old tube of Avon lipstick you found rolling around in your mom’s purse and decided to try out. Returned to Sephora the next day.

My personal favorite has to be Dangerous Liaison. Its so pretty! And the formula is so so so weird but yet so good! The Dangerous Liaison got me so many compliments from pretty much everyone! It is the prettiest colour ever!!

First thing you need to know: you should swatch the shades before buying because they are not displayed accurately on the website. I bought “too bad i’m bad” and “pin up pink” and they almost look alike. I also dont like the doe foot applicator because it takes up way too much product. It feels soft and pampering on the lips after application but starts to look and feel rather drying after its fully dry. Its long lasting and I love the slight vanilla smell.

I want to buy this in every colour! I’ve purchased many long-wear lip colours but Charlotte Tilbury’s Hollywood Lips Liquid Lipstick is by far my favourite! I put it on in the morning, had a coffee (or three), ate breakfast and lunch and STILL had colour on my lips! It’s not drying or sticky and the price point is not outrageous for a high end brand. Enjoy!!!!

I absolutely love this liquid lipstick and it’s my new favourite. I have it in Screen Siren and it is such an old Hollywood colour. It’s a bit thick. I give it a shake first. After one application I let it dry for a minute. Then a second application and you are good for the day. That’s it. No more application through the day. And… no dry lips.

I purchased Too Bad I’m Bad, Show Girl and Screen Siren.
I purposely purchased the more intense colours as I own a stack of her nudes and neutrals. I own several of her lipsticks (Hot Lips, Matte Revolution and K.I.S.S.I.N.G ). The liquid lipstick formula is inferior to the Matte Revolution so I will not be purchasing any more of these. Application is a little tricky, not as easy as the bullet-style CT lipsticks. The tip of the wand is arched like a foot so it’s useful when you are applying lippie to the large fleshy parts of the lip but you then have to rotate the tip and ‘line’ the lip outline quite carefully.
For reference I’m a NC20, medium blonde with bluey-green eyes. I have full natural lips with no deep lip lines unless I’m dehydrated. I’m 39 yo. My lips tend to be on the dry side so I apply lip balm frequently.
Too Bad I’m Bad: nice bright medium rose, not too bright on my skin tone. The colour has a vintage look to it. It’s more Matte than the Matte revolution but dryer on my lips. Not uncomfortably so.
Show Girl: looks like a muddy 90’s mess (like something Kylie Jenner would wear). It’s not brown, but not burgundy but not very rosy coloured either. I was hoping it would look like a deeper / darker version of Secret Salma but I was so wrong. I mean it looks ok on me but it’s not as flattering as the other 2 colours.
Screen Siren: wow, beautiful neutral classic red. Can’t fault the colour. Formula is just not quite right and I’m a bit annoyed I didn’t order Carina’s Love in the Matte Revolution.
I’ll add some unfiltered photos in natural daylight if this helps. Note that Show Girl is pulling slightly lighter and rosier in camera. It is definitely darker with more of a brownish undertone peeking through

Let me start this review by saying how much I adore Charlotte’s makeup and in particular her lip products in both the Matte Revolution and K.I.S.S.I.N.G formulas, as well as her Lip Cheat lip liners. I find her skincare hit or miss for my skin but I have really come to love most of her makeup and I have happily written a number of 5 star reviews for items from the line. It really saddens me to write this negative review, but the Hollywood Liquid Lipsticks truly didn’t work at all for me.
I have dry lips to begin with, and other liquid lipstick formulas – Dior, Bobbi Brown, NARS – I have tried before didn’t wear comfortably. However, despite it being generally challenging to develop a decent matte liquid lip product, the description of the Hollywood Lips Liquid Lipstick on the Charlotte Tilbury website sounded like she nailed it once again. I was especially looking forward to the advertised non-drying long wear and of course the beautiful finish on the lips. I never thought I could actually wear and like matte lipstick and Charlotte’s Matte Revolution range is fantastic for me. The only other matte line of lip colors that works for me is Tom Ford’s.
I immediately ordered two of the Hollywood Liquid Lipsticks – sight unseen – from her website: Charlotte Darling which on the photo looked like a liquid version close to the famed Bitch Perfect, described as nude, and Showgirl, described as a medium rose. The photo of Showgirl looked like a slightly rosier version of Bond Girl Matte Revolution on my screen. Tilbury Counters around me didn’t have the Hollywood Liquid Lipsticks yet so I couldn’t sample in person and there were no reviews on the company website either. I felt pretty confident ordering those two shades, since the photos had been pretty accurate previously in depicting the shades. Of all the Charlotte Tilbury items I bought so far, I have also really enjoyed the stylish yet practical packaging and I was excited to read about the genius curved applicator of these liquid lipsticks.
Oh boy was I wrong! And sadly, on all accounts.
– Formula and Application: Creamy, wet mousse consistency, quite difficult to apply. The applicator picks up way too much product when you open the tube and pull it out, and it gets quite messy that way, I had to wipe most of the product off the applicator tip before I could even start applying. Pretty wasteful. The curved doe foot feels nice when it touches the lips, but didn’t work particularly well in terms of precision. I ended wiping my lipline with tissue and q-tips. On the second attempt the following day I lined my lips with Pillowtalk lipliner before applying the Liquid Lips but it didn’t help making application any more precise. The formula is quite wet and takes a while to dry on the lips, the finish then looked fine initially. There is a soft, pleasant vanilla scent to the formula, which doesn’t linger.
– Wear: Once the formula had set the look went from ok to dry within the first hour and it also turned from being comfortable to feeling quite dry in the same timeframe. After about 30 minutes without eating or drinking, the product also started to accentuate every lip line I didn’t even know I had and was thus not the worst liquid lipstick look I’ve ever experienced (that was Dior) but also by no means a flattering look. After an hour the product faded quickly and it also transferred noticeably onto my water glass.
– Shades: Seeing them in person I was stunned how far the photos on the website for these two shades are completely off! In short, neither Charlotte Darling now Showgirl worked for my NW15 coloring and pigmented lips: Charlotte Darling came out a brownish orange which was about the most unflattering imaginable on my pale skin and Showgirl is also very brown instead of rose and it is way darker than the photo on the website.
– Packaging: Lipgloss packaging, small opening which smears the creamy formula around from the first opening, imprecise, messy applicator. Overall the tube doesn’t look nearly as stylish as most any of the other Charlotte Tilbury items and just doesn’t appear to be as well thought out as the rest in her line. The only positive about the packaging that I found was the partial clear side part that allows you to see the shade of the contents at a glance.
Verdict: Unfortunately I ordered these liquid lipsticks in an online pre-launch without being able to sample them and at that time obviously there were no online reviews posted on the site for these items yet. Had I been able to look at the colors, finish and application in person I would clearly not have ordered neither Charlotte Darling nor Showgirl. Or any other shade, for that matter, due to the drying feel. In the meantime customer testimonials have been posted on the Charlotte Tilbury website for these which for the most part mirror my own negative experience, especially the reviews written for those two shades. I hope that Charlotte and her product development team consider reworking this item, including the packaging. It somehow feels to me as if the Hollywood Lips Liquid Lipsticks were sewn with a hot needle as they say, and thus launched prematurely. In the meantime I will stay with my beloved, tried and true Matte Revolution lip colors.

To preface this review, I want to emphasise that I’ve long been a fan of Charlotte Tilbury’s lip products. I own about 30 of her bullet lipsticks; I love both the Matte Revolution and the K.I.S.S.I.N.G formulas, and I think that they’re amongst the very best lipsticks on the market. I also own almost every shade of her Lip Cheat lip liners and have written a rave review of one of my favourite shades, Pillow Talk. Given all of that, I had high expectations for the new Hollywood Lips range. Unfortunately, my experience with these liquid lipsticks has been incredibly disappointing. In fact, I would go so far as to say that this is the most uncomfortable liquid lipstick formula I’ve ever come across. Compared to the top three (similarly priced) liquid lipsticks I own – Smith & Cult’s Flatte Tainted Lip Stains, Burberry’s Liquid Lip Velvets, and By Terry’s Terrybly Velvet Rouges – Charlotte Tilbury’s formula is inferior in every single respect.
I bought three of these lipsticks the day of their release (unfortunately, all of them are consistent in terms of formula.)
APPLICATION:
First thing to note is the (false) claim that the wand/applicator of these lipsticks is innovative and/or special. It’s not. Instead of ‘hugging the curve of your lips’, the much lauded wand is unwieldy and imprecise. Application is a messy task that requires good lighting, a steady hand, and an unobstructed view of yourself in a mirror. Regardless, make sure to have a few q-tips on hand to clean up messy edges. They seem to be inevitable.
FORMULA:
After initial application, the formula takes about 10-15 minutes to set. It feels comfortable enough for about 45 minutes, after which my lips start feeling dry. By the one hour mark, the dryness is so uncomfortable, I’m desperately reaching for lip balm.
The finish looks as dry as the formula feels. Since I’ve started using this product, I’ve discovered that I have lip lines I didn’t even know existed, The formula is not transfer proof and will smudge even after setting. This makes the dryness even more irritating – at the very least, a matte lipstick should stay put. Well, these ones don’t.
The formula does not wear well. Expect to find an obvious ring of colour around the perimeter of your lips after eating. Expect the lipstick to collect around the edges of your mouth, visibly gunked up. Needless to say, it’s far from flattering.
SHADES:
I wasn’t able to see any of these lipsticks in person before buying. However, I strongly recommend NOT relying on the pictures on Charlotte Tilbury’s website, nor the shade descriptions, because neither are accurate. (This is a general issue not specific to the Hollywood Lips formula – Charlotte Tilbury’s bullet lipstick shades are also represented inaccurately.) The colours are so off the mark that I wouldn’t be surprised if the pictures were all photoshopped.
For example, while Show Girl looks like a medium plummy mauve on Charlotte Tilbury’s website, on me, it’s a ’90s brown – there is the faintest hint of rose/mauve but it’s not very pronounced and the general effect is extremely dated. On my slightly paler than N15, cool toned skin, Show Girl is very dark, bordering on vampy (darker than her Bond Girl lipstick).
PACKAGING:
Each lipstick comes in a rounded tube with a clear panel in front allowing you to see the colour inside. The rest of the tube is an opaque shiny gold, and is embossed with a bright red lipstick smooch alongside the words ‘Hollywood Lips’ in large cursive font (also bright red). The shade name is printed on the bottom of the tube. It’s in such tiny letters, I actually have to squint to make them out.
Aesthetically, I am not a fan of the packaging at all. Obviously, it depends on your preferences. I find that elegant packaging elevates the experience of using a product. I like the fluted, rose gold tubes that Charlotte Tilbury’s bullet lipsticks come in and rather enjoy pulling one out of my purse to reapply. Not so with the Hollywood Lips.
FRAGRANCE:
The scent is faintly vanilla-esque although not overly strong. I have no issues with the fragrance nor do these have any sort of taste that I’ve noticed.
FINAL THOUGHTS:
As a huge fan of Charlotte Tilbury’s bullet lipsticks and her lip liners, I was incredibly disappointed with the Hollywood Lips liquid lipstick. They aren’t just mediocre – Charlotte Tilbury’s liquid lipstick formula is the worst one I’ve tried. (In addition to the formulas mentioned in the first paragraph of this review, I have also tried Jouer’s liquid lipsticks as well as the Beauty Bakerie formula). Obviously, I wish I was writing a very different review right now, and I still highly recommend Charlotte Tilbury’s Matte Revolution and K.I.S.S.I.N.G lipsticks. However, I can’t recommend the Hollywood Lips (at least not in good conscience). Although I wanted to love these, they fell short of my expectations. My advice is to give the Hollywood Lips a miss and perhaps pick up one of the excellent bullet lipsticks instead. If you are still interested in this formula – and I believe that some people will enjoy it, as taste is highly subjective – I strongly recommend swatching the shades in person and, if possible, trying out a sample before buying.
